Protection of shuttles
Emmett.hendrick replied to weegee_101's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
When I'm boarded I usually assign 1 marine(at least) to each shuttle it has served in the past it even saved a shuttle for me when I had to activate Launch control to launch my IC's I didn't realise there were intruders in one of my shuttles but the shuttle did not launch I can only assume they were to busy engaging my marines to try and leave [ 01-07-2002: Message edited by: Emmett.hendrick ] -

Soapbox - Graphics vs Gameplay
Emmett.hendrick replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Battlecruiser Series
I am going to throw my hat into the arena here(and hopefully not loose an arm in the process). I feel that a game does not have to have the latest cutting edge graphics to succeed like Valmorgan I have a few games of note that have remained on my hard disk and I keep returning to BCM(obviously it rocks) BC3K (still there and gets and airing occasionally) The Xcom/UFO series (up to Apocolypse(?) still can take over weeks of my life) Jedi Knight(may have had great graphics at its time but I only bought it about three weeks ago) The only FPS I play which the eye candy adds to the game is Alien V's Predator but other than that I am firmly of the opinion that game play is a lot more important than graphics. I have a large collection of games I have been collecting for years I love the underdogs as they have loads of games that I have fond memories of from my youth and the reason I love them is for Gameplay plain and simple Operation Stealth - good game some bad sub games though. Anyway I'll stop now before I wander off completely. [ 01-04-2002: Message edited by: Emmett.hendrick ] -

Its is extremely possible in fact thats were my ship has spent a lot of time recently(while doing system upgrades etc) its exremely easy too. just change to VTOL mode and tap TAB until your ship slowly lowers itself to the ground you know you've landed when you see "TAXI" on you HUD

His Marines have about one hour left of air, how can I retrieve them to drop them off at the closest starbase? or am I suppose to just let them die? I'm still having trouble registering my game. Agree with $ilk on this one fry em best you can do you can't recover them. quote: Also I captured a base and when I left it, it went up like a Roman candle. What did I forget to do? More than likely an unfriendly blew the station up when you left it than anything you forgot to do. quote: Also what minerals should I stock up on for repairs? How many units of Radine and Plutonium should I maintian? Depends on the engine/reactor you have different ones have different consumption rates check your current levels and then do a jump then check your levels that will tell you how much is used per jump and will give you a guide how much to carry depending on where your going, and upgrade...upgrade...upgrade the basic engine uses alot of fuel per jump. quote: Also how do I keep my probes in one sector and keep them from moving from one sector to another. You probes will not jump from one region to another without being ordered to do so but they will wander/patrol the region you send them to automatically thus their waypoints will change which may look like their preparing to do a jump but will not leave their designated system unless told to do so by your AE/you.

The Official Whad you get for X-mas thread!
Emmett.hendrick replied to Hunted's topic in General Chatter
Lets see what did I get, we'll the better half gave me the money I paid for BCM and my video card a fews months ago as my present(she promised she'd by me both for X-mas but I couldn't wait) a copy of PC PRO(?) and some money to go towards the re-education fund(learning some web stuff ie Flash, etc at the moment) Other than that people just kept handing me beer so I had to be poured into bed X-mas night and crawl out of it Boxing/ST Stephen's day. -
Can't give you a reason why 98 won't read the drive but as far as 95 not readig your new drive it could be if you have a old copy of 95 it will not recognise a FAT32 partition(but it should still see the drive(I think its been a while))

And the minimum supported res will be 800x600x32 heh OUCH! thats gonna hurt better start bargaining with the better half for that upgrade for my PIII 600 now then.

Signs you've been playing BCM too much...
Emmett.hendrick replied to Badgerius's topic in General Discussions
Ok heres one and I hate to admit I'm guilty of trying it. When you hover your finger over the controls of the microwave in work and await the tool tip to appear to tell you what each button does. [ 12-27-2001: Message edited by: Emmett.hendrick ] -

LOL I agree my son is just reaching two now and I'm going to have to invest in some sort of cattle prod to keep him in line(or maybe I'll take a page from SC's book and shove him out the airlock)

Do fighters need Co-pilot?
Emmett.hendrick replied to Malkuth's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
And I Quote from the manual(not literally as I don't have it in my hand) "A fighter requires 1 pilot to fly" So if you man your fighters with 1 pilot each you should be able to launch all 8. -

GCV - Andromeda James stood in medical and looked around as the medical supplies started to arrive much needed medkits were distributed and the worst cases were seen to first. James stood and watched Geraldine as she rallied her remaining staff, she never stopped to amaze him the way she could organise even a handfull of staff into an effective system ensuring everybody got timely and effective care, she was also effectively using whatever extra staff she could get her hands on James himself had got roped in when he arrived in medibay. As he was watching a young MO approached him. "Sir message for you" "Thank you" Smith replied as he went to the main office and flicked on the com link,"Smyth here, report" "Sir unloading of the shuttles is almost complete however commander Jason reports additional Gammulan vessels appreaching the area!" James's face went stern he had a feeling the Gammulans would not let him go so easily Lord David was not that forgiving James had meet Lord David briefly a few years earlier while he was still first officer on the Andromeda and he struck him as a man of conviction. "Repair status!" "Engineering reports we should have main power back in about 10minutes but the other repairs have not even been started yet." "Ok fine get the fighters ready to launch and get the shields back up as soon as possible, launch the fighters as soon as their ready and get them on a escort profile, reload the missile bays and get as many marines as are able armed and ready to go I expect to be boarded this time the Gammulans really are pissed with us this time" "Aye Sir" came the reply james turned off the com link and sat back in his chair after a few moments he rose from his chair and returned to the bridge......
