I agree the ships were badly designed none really "sat" with the star wars feel(except maybe the droid control ship). but the film gave me exactly what I was looking for about 2 hours of entertainment and expanded on what I already believed was a great story(plus the jedi's rocked!)
-
I agree Anakin was a bit whingey but they had to show how being dragged from his mother affected him it will probably make his slide to the dark side more poinent(sp?) when it does happen. I am sure they will expand on his family loss in the following films.

OK I'm sorry but I have to speak up I am one of the few (about 5 last count) that actually enjoyed Episode 1, I bought it on video when it came out and am looking forward to episode 2 when it comes out aswell. I think I was 7(maybe younger) when I saw starwars/ESB first time and I remember the fact that I enjoyed the movie based on the story it told and I liked the characters and I think for the same reason thats why I liked EP1. Jar Jar binks is the latest in a line of comic relief in star wars series(3CPO being the first) but he did have a reason for being there in ep1 so I have to also say I don't hate the character either in fact I laughed at some of his missadventures. So yes I enjoyed EP1 and will go see EP2 for entertainment value not to go and grumble at how bad the effects are or how well it fits in with the rest of the story line(but it is nice to see what happened that lead up to the Galactic civil war!)

Getting error message on startup

quote:Originally posted by Captain He-Man: Thanks for the help.. i'll try getting the service packs, but i don't see how they'll help. And i would so love to just go out and pick up a new video card, but my money tree is bare! Capt. HM I reloaded Win2k on my system recently and didn't have SP2 installed and had problems running some games which used direct X(Jedi Knight wouldn't run even though it would before the reload) so I downloaded and applied SP2 again and they all work again so I can only assume(since I haven't read the updates in SP2) that it extends the Direct X compatibilities of Win2K(among other areas) -
GCV Andromeda 01:15 James approached engineering the huge blast doors into the engineering area loomed ahead just a James apprached the huge doors him com beeped. taping his wrist pad,"Smyth here, report!" "Sir, I believe we have a problem", replied his first officer.# "Explain what you mean!" "A Gammulan Storm Carrier entered the system about 5 minutes ago, it launch three probes and then cloaked, I can only assume they are looking for us. Its marking match the ones of the carrier that attacked us earlier!" "Guess they are trying to finish the job they started,"James replied,"Ok keep me posted, recall our fighters but get them ready to launch again quickly and deploy the marines on the surface, Smyth out" Deactivating his com link James thumbed the control to engineering, the great doors hissed open and he walked in. James was greated by Cheif engineers mate John Sackson,"Commander!" the young engineer smiled extening his hand to shake Smyth's hand,"We don't see you down here to often......HAha!" Sackson laughed knowing that James was a regular visiter to engineering often even just to call down and talk to Roy Folker his chief engineer. James laughed lightly at the young man,"Where's Faulker?" he enquired "He's jsut been taken to medical with some bad burns." "Will he be ok?" "Should be with a little rest." "Thats good to hear. Ok so if your in charge now whats the bad news?" "I have engineers working on the Hull now should be able to do a patch job in about an hour, we have repairs underway to the shield system and weapons systems should be up and running in the next 20 minutes." "That all sounds like good news I know you have some bad news what is it?" James queried with a wiry smile on his face. "The bad news is the coolant system for the engine it needs replacing and we don't have a spare one on board. We also need some parts for the Hyperdrive and the transporter system is offline." "Ok we'll have to live without the transporter for the moment see what you can do about the coolant system, I sent a request out for traders in the local area for some assist hopefully somebody will respond, however A Gam Carrier just showed up so that may cause some problems. See what you can do" James patted the young engineer on the back and turned and left engineering.

OK nobody kill me for this but if you are running the latest drivers i think the SC said in another topic that the option to Disable Adjust Z-Buffer depth to rendering depth if unequal was removed by Nvidia in latter revisions of the drivers. I know I have(now) a 32MB Gladiac GTS with the latest drivers and I don't have that option but I did with the original drivers that came with the card. My advice the EP2 is better and beside BCM is out this week either get EP2 which does not have above problem or wait for BCM.

Getting error message on startup

quote:Originally posted by Captain He-Man: I just redownloaded/reinstalled demo 2, and i get this error when i try to load the game: '"The instruction at "0x004db390" referenced memory at "0x000000000". The memory could not be "read".' Has anyone had this?? I searched the forum (and the faq and vcf with the demo) and i didn't see anything like this, but if i missed it, sorry. EDIT: I forgot to mention that the little 3000AD video loads, and then i get this message after it's done. my system is this: AMD 1.2ghz t-bird 192 megs 'o ram Voodoo 3 3000 16meg agp (with latest drivers) WIN2k (no service packs) DirectX 8.0a Thanks, Capt. HM I used to have a Voodoo 3000 also and EP 2 would not run for me in win2k(with SP 2) I tried some recommendations in the FAQ/VCF but could not get it to work( I have to admit I didn't try to hard as I could play in Win98 and knew I was upgrading my video card soon(thought I'd add this before somebody shoots me out an airlock for not following the VCF/FAQ)). My final solution was to go out and buy a Geforce 2 card and I have never had any problems since everything works like a dream. My error with EP2 was much the same as yours 3000AD intro plays then error and back to desktop. My best suggestion change your vid card you will not regret it! -
GCV Andromeda Planet surface Cryon VI 00:50 James groaned as he awoke, slowly his eyes focused on the room around him. His head throbbed and he put his hand to his head and felt a surgical seal on his head. As he looked around he realised he was in medical. Geraldine was standing at the other side of the room talking to a nurse she looked his way and, realising he was awake handed a report to the nurse and then crossed the room to him. She took his hand and placed her other hand on his forehead, "You gave us quite a scare commander. Luckly for you the medical team managed to get to the bridge in time." She pulled a small light from her breast pocket and shinned it into his eyes, he groaned in pain and tried to pull away,"Stay still!" She ran a couple more tests and then helped him sit up on the bed."Very well commander I am releasing you but take it easy please, if you get any headaches or dizzyness come back here immediatly" "Understood!" replied James pulling himself upright his head was sore but at least he could walk,"better see what the damage is then!" He gave Geraldine a warm smile and left medbay.

Thank you all for your advice I went out on friday and picked up a 32MB ELSA Gladiac geforce 2 GTS and installed it in my system over the weekend and everything looks great EP2 demo ran perfectly in Win2k (after downloading the 12.81 drivers)and really looks well so now all I'm waiting on is BCM but until then EP2 will keep me going as I couldn't really play it up till now.

True and indeed a good point but an expensive way to destroy one or two ships!
-
ooc: Demolition this post happens about the same time as yours GMV Dark star CRYON VI system He walked the decks of the bridge absorbing what had happened so far, his mind concentrating on the days events he didn't even notice as the Dark Star emerged from the jump anamoly and entered the CRYON VI system. "Sir we have arrived at the Galcom carriers last known co-ordinates!" "Scan for ships in the area!" He looked out the bridgeviewer at the sprawling sea of black outside his bridge. "There is no sign of the enemy ship, Sir", Turning he returned to his post and checked his tacops display. Sensor data was feed straight to his station as the massive Storm carrier searched for the Terran ship. It seemed the more he looked the less he saw, his anger grew the more he looked at the screen. He slammed his fist down on his console, his teeth gnashed together. Composing himself he looked up and stared at the bridgeviewer. "Launch Probes send one out each of the Jump points from this system I WANT TO KNOW where they have gone!" he growled, " and cloak we'll wait here for probe telemetry." He raised his strong frame from his post and retired to his quarters, inside he locked the door behind him and went over to the desk. He pulled a long neck bottle with green liquid out from a drawer and poured himself a drink. He sat down heavily in the chair and starting to drink from the glass. Outside the huge Carrier launched three probes and then cloaked.

This isn't so much a war story as a warning to all........ I was flying around in my BK MKIII and decided to go planetside, looking in tacops I found an Naval fleet on the planet and I thought I'd have a look so set a waypoint for just above the fleet and started my descent. Preparing fighters and raising shields and stuff I was ready if something went wrong(I thought I was anyway) I got the lovely Planet entry screen and then the bridge viewer screen reappeared again, and within seconds I was pounded to within an inch of my life. I quickly switch to external cam just in time to see my BC getting pummled from the planet. Returning to the bridge I checked my losses. Almost 50% of systems were below 30% with a good few destroyed. I had lost 3 IC's and all my shuttles and ATV's. My engine was destroyed and my BC was starting to drop like a lead pidgeon. After about a minute the BC hit the sea and I abandoned ship but being so far out to sea there was little chance of swimming to land. So I just swam around for a little while. In all my BC was probably hit for a little over 10 seconds, i had my shields up and was a good height up but I still got pounded so a warning to all BCM is a lot harder

Enterprise: The Night of Judgement...

Mutant X is fairly enjoyable a bit like a series version of X-men but the effects are good and the fight scenes are good also(very Matrix like in style and stuff) If you missed the last episode of the 1st series and the 1st episode of the second series of Andromeda you missed something very cool I personally haven't seen the 1st of the second series yet and can't wait to see it the series finally of series 1 was very good!
