I also agree many times in the past I have seen games given quick shot reviews and scores that have marked the game as average or above average and yet when the buying public try the game it becomes imensely popular a classic example was Starcraft most magazines gave it an average review and passed it off as another RTS game(which basically it is I suppose) but it obviously had more because it was one of the most popular games at the time of its release. I Used to subscribe to PC zone but cancelled my subscription when I realised that they were glazing over alot of good titles and prefer to use judgement, some research, demos and word of mouth if I can before buying a game these days.

GCV Andromeda 00:10 James sat in the command chair on the bridge as the Andromeda limped her way through the planets atmosphere, he could feel the tension on the bridge rise every second, the Andromeda was heavily damaged and everybody was awaiting the next system failure, so much so that when the alarm clackson sounded the bridge crew seemed almost relieved. “Bridge this is Engineer Folker, the coolant system to the engine has failed. I recommend putting this ship down in under about 5 minutes or she’s going to fall like a lead pigeon.” “Understood, bridge out!” James turned his attention to his helmsman, “OK Jonese, get us on the ground as quick as possible!” “Aye Sir,” came the reply and the giant ship nosed further down her descent ever accelerating. “Sir we have multiple incoming contacts range 10 miles closing fast!” James’s heart sank he was hoping this wouldn’t happen but he was prepared if it did, he was glad he was now! “Very well, Launch all IC’s intercept orders and activate the PTA system.” Andromeda’s IC contingent exploded from the great ships hull and screamed towards their target. Checking his Tacops display James watched as the Andromeda’s fighters engaged the attacking ships, within seconds three enemy fighters were falling leaving fiery trails as they fell to their deaths. As James watched however a fighter loosed a missile which shot straight past the defending fighters and straight for the great ship herself, “Brace for impact!” James shouted as the missile streaked in from the rear of the ship out of LOS of the PTA turrets and slammed, hard, into the starboard side of the ship. With the force of the explosion she listed to one side and her starboard engine gave out, with no shields to protect her the full force of the impact was felt especially in engineering where the explosion was felt most. James struggled to lift himself from the deck, where he had been thrown by the force of the explosion, and staggered his way over to his helms man, “What’s the bad news Jonese?” he yelled trying to be heard over the noise on the bridge. “Not good Sir, we’ve lost the starboard engine and the engine room seems to have taken the brunt of that hit she’s like piloting a lead brick, however, we are approaching the landing point now I’m pretty sure I can set her down, but it won’t be pretty!” “She’s all yours,” replied James, “Do what you can.” He patted his helms man on the shoulder and fought his way back to his command chair and sat down, securing himself in with his restraints he looked around the bridge. Chaos reigned on the bridge, displays had blanked out, people where thrown across the deck and the overwhelming amount of chatter coming over the com system was producing nothing but an unrecognisable noise that filled the bridge. As he watched people returned to their stations and organisation returned to the bridge, James activated the ship wide com system and address the crew, “This is the bridge all hands brace for emergency landing!” The GCV Andromeda approached the planet surface, a fire raging from her starboard side. As she approached the surface control jets fired as the crew tried desperately to slow the great ships descent, skimming the surface for about 5 KM she then dived sharply down a canyon, As she reached the bottom of the canyon again the control jets fired as her great bulk contacted the ground. As she hit the ground her engine was cut and the reverse AB system was engaged to stop her however even with the system at full power it took almost 2KM for the ship to come to a complete halt. As the GCV Andromeda sat silently, her starboard side a blaze her IC fighters returned streaking down the canyon they flew over the silent form of their mother-ship and then circled around for a second pass. I agree whole heartedly, after working for many years(too many) on various helpdesks and stuff I have come to the conclusion that people in general are completely unwilling to do much(if anything) themselves. They will moan, whinge and generally kick up shit to get their own way and all I can say is my hat is off to SC for telling them all where to go. Often times i would have loved to tell a user/caller to F*** off and do it themselves but if I did I'd get fired and I can't afford that. I envy you SC. Keep up the good work.

Guns are fairly restricted in Ireland. You can not carry a pistol of any kind and to get a rifle or shotgun you need permission from two farmers that you can shot on their land and I believe that you must be a registered member of a gun club. Even then you can only bring it out to specific events other than that it is restricted to having it in your home(and there may even be restrictions on that) Knifes and the like are a strict no! anybody caught carrying same can be arrested on sight pretty much. Emmett.hendrick replied to philgreen's topic in Game Demo Discussions
Thanks for the heads up I am buying one of the Elsa cards this week and I was considering getting the glasses aswell wasn't sure how they'd work with BCM but after reading this I think I will pay the extra money and get them. (now all I need is a BCM voicelink and I can truly get the expierence of siting on the bridge barking orders at my crew LOL) -

My office couch will be working overtime because thats where I'll be sleeping. Wanna get chics? Get a dog (a cute dog) or a baby. [ 10-15-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ] LOL but your not joking SC same happens to me when I go out somewhere with my son, the amount of women that come over and start talking to him/us. I should have had a child years ago would have made dating a lot easier(but isn't that a catch 22 situation?)

Sombody buy me dictionary but other than LOL on what I understand. Fleet command could use the site to generate campaign brochures to verbally abuse other fleets(eg Spectre above)

GCV Andromeda 23:55 James returned to the bridge after spending some time in the brig with the prisoner, he didn't like Gamulans, their cold piercing eyes like they were staring straight through you, made him shiver, even thinking about them now made him uncomfortable, and the fact that one of them was on his ship made him even more so. As the doors to the bridge hissed closed behind him his first officer turned to meet him the young lootenant stood straight to attention and saluted him,"Sir we are approaching the planet!" "Good," James replied "Coms cut that communication we probably have given away our position to much at this stage but I don't want anybody pinpointing our location to easily." he paused for a second and looked out the bridgeview at the view of the planet as it filled the view. He sat down and activated his Tacops display, The display defaulted to the local region CYRON VI, one jump short of Galcom space, so near yet with out a jump drive it may aswell be the middle of Gammulan space. James targeted the planet in the system and zoomed in looking for a good place to set down. Scanning the surface he found a good spot hidden in a valley big enough for the giant mass of the Andromeda to fit and with enough cover to stop them being spot from space. He flicked off his display and raised his head,"New course! Planetfall setup 135 upon entry. Tactical launch a probe set it for silent running I want to know if anything enters the system." Pausing for a second he Turned to his helms-man,"OK Jones take her down......Gently shes been through enough today" "Aye Sir!", came the response and the big ship's battered hull lowered itself slowly into the planets atmosphere.

New toy: Digital Camera
Emmett.hendrick replied to Charles Lindsey's topic in Science, Technology & Health
I bought a digital camera for the wife as a present about a year ago set me back about IR£350 its a nice Kodak one though. Thing that burnt me though is I could have bought the same camera from Gateway with my pc for £50 less. -
I have to agree I haven't been part of a union for years and have been quite happy all you seem to hear over here is another union going on strike. It was rampant last year more people were on strike every week. Unions did have there place once but now they just show the greed of a lot of people out there, I have never demanded a pay rise from anybody I work for I have always got one at regular intervals though. I believe if people are happy with your work you will be rewarded accordingly and don't believe in demanding more than I deserve.

I had good dealings with BMT sent them a mail to confirm my order and I got the same as you did first time "we will confirm by e-mail when the prosuct ships" So I replied asking them to confirm at least that they received my order and I got an e-mail confirming same.
