That kinda sounds like null space.

Bureaucracy in action.

Got a screenshot? What video card? Have you tried exiting the ship in first person and swiming up to it and then comparing it's depth?

1. LOL 2. When armor gets damaged, the hull underneath it is exposed to space and therefore is wasted too. That's why if you have damaged armour/hull, sometimes some of your crew will get injured, or plain out die from space exposure. My recomendation for that is upgrade your shields, and don't fight a loosing battle (shields get too low, cloak or run). Look at armor as something that keeps your pressurized ship from equalizing with the vacuum of space, and in the worst case scenario, something that gives you a second chance after your shilds drop (after substantial repairs, and crew replacements of course). 3. The option to group/give group orders to marines should be implemented in the upcoming titles. 4. Nope, sorry, can't beam aboard enemy ships, but maybe in BCTC, who knows. (SC might )

I liked it better when posts alternated in color (one post being lighter shade, the next one darker, and the next one lighter again), made it easier to separate each post. Now they kinda run together. Other than that, it's nice.

Hunger factor of 140 is normal. Make sure that you have food onboard, and they will eat when hunger factor climbs (400 is high).

Well, I have an opinion. EP5 has been banned from the forums before for having posted some stupid remarks. Now he is posting some other stupid remarks which he calls his opinions (well, that those are his opinions is a given, can't argue there). However, he is complaining of the forums being empty, I don't understand that part. The forums of every game are full before the release, bursting after, and then thin out to those who are fans after the game has been out for a while. Name any game, same story. It will be the same thing when other titles will be released with the exception of BCG since that one will be online only and will most likely have all kinds of different threads (contracts, news, negotiations ect..) Other thing, is EP5 agreeing with the people who said that the game is unfinished, or some other games are unfinished. While it's a complete lie if it pertains to BCM, it's the truth for the other games. In pertaining to BCM it plainly said on the box that MP is not included, it shipped with everything advertised on the box, and MP is still coming, (those who are complaining about it being 6 months, take a look at Civilization 3, a huge company with millions of dollars to spend, and MP is released almoust a year and a half later). As for other games being unfinished, there is no set release date for those games, they are being worked on, and that's that. Who are they to tell you how to do your business, to work on one game, or work on 2, 3, or 7 games at a time? They are not your boss, nor are they giving you a loan to develop those products, so how you spend your time and money is up to you. However, EP5 being a long member of this comunity I would expect him to say the same thing to them, instead he basically said that they are right (again, his opinion). So, in conclusion, he can talk about BC games all he wants, and obviously those are his opinions, however, with actions done responsibility follows. He was responsible for agreeing with those trolls, but all he agreed with is the game BCM or other (I haven't figured out which they were talking about) being incomplete, and not many people as he would like post in BC forum. So with those things, I don't think they are big enough to warrant a ban. However, in my eyes he is a liability, because when some trolls start really bad mouthing BC, I don't know if EP5 will agree with them (and him being a member of this comunity is like that "rat boy" who joined taliban), or tell them to shove their lies where the sun don't shine.
-
That's right. Don't have the game, what possible business do you have in the lobby or MP? And if you have a pirated game, then you don't even belong to this comunity because you have made no contribution that entitles you to play the game or interact in MP (be it just chating in the loby or playing MP).

People piss me off. They want everything now and they want it on a silver plate. Game development takes years, sometimes a lot of years (Freelancer). So, people growing impatient is the last concern the developer, or the hard core players should worry about. By the way, if you are growing impatient about a game and showing it, that means you have no other priorites in your life other than to sit behind your computer and literally waste time waiting, that's WHY you get impatient. My advice for those people, get something else to do to fill up your time. [ 07-22-2002, 02:55 PM: Message edited by: LordDavid ]

quote:Originally posted by Tac: Itd be like the 60's all over again man! You dig? We are paying for those 60's right now. Their generatin is in power right now, and that's why we have a powerfull country that is falling to pieces. Also that's the reason that we have that child molester rape and murder an innocent child. You probably don't know that he has a previous record of child molestation and was arested and tried in 2 years ago. Well, because of the justice system in place, that was put in place by the 60's generation with their brains all smoked out, he was released, and got a chance to rape and now kill a child. Who is at fault here? It's not only him, it's also those who found him innocent, and the lawyer who defended him, and those who put this curent justice system in place. My point is, people who are in power right now, grew up in the 60's, the era where drugs, sex and anything went. Well, as you can see, they turned this country into their image, and it aint' prety.

Also, let me ad this to make some things more clear. In relation to some kind of decease (cancer or otherwise) if you condition does not affect you performance then your standing with the employer shouldn't be affected either. However, if it does affect your performance, then the most your employer ows you is your original position back if/ and when you get better. Also, the same kind of tolerance should not extend to drug inflicted conditions (hangovers, high, or something permanent) because those conditions are self inflicted (be it casually, or addictively) and you yourself were responsible for those inflictions.

quote:Originally posted by Race Bannon IV: Soback that may be the most insensitive thing I've heard today. What do you have against Canada? And for your information if you drink alcohol or smoke ciggarettes , you are a drug user. If you have a ciggarette habit you are a drug addict. You continue to use a dangerous drug that will eventually kill you , proof of your chemical dependency. It makes many people comfortable to refer to users of illegal drugs as "druggies" and "junkies" when as I stated earlier alcohol and tobbaco are the deadliest drugs on the market. Lastly, drug addiction is a public health problem. Treatment is paid for by insurance companies and your employer can no more fire you for being an addict than he can for having cancerYes your employer can fire you for having an adiction, or for having cancer. If you are unable to deliver the results you were hired to deliver, or you are a liability, your employer has the right to fire you at any time. Like I said before, that's why some airlines plain out refuse to hire you if you are a regular drinker, or a smoker. If you are a liability (got a DUI), you are supposed to notify the FAA and most likely will have your licence suspended, without the licence you can't fly, and if you can't fly, you are not needed to that airline, therefore you are fired. Also, the reason I brough up cigaretes and alcohol is because those are legalized drugs, and as you can see they very much affect your job performance. I just wanted to plug the hole of some liberal saying that if grass or other drugs become legal, then it's legal to use them and show up at work later on. Which as you can see is bull, and not only for airline industry. Also, some drugs have prolonged or permanent effects, like LSD that messes up your brains forever with repeated exposures. Would you want to be a passenger on a flight with the pilot having trace vision from repeated use of LSD? Would you want to have a guy ringing you up at the cashregister when he used grass or coke or acid an hour ago? So, if you are under effects of a substance, legal or not, and it makes you a liability or just plain out anable to perform your duty (note I wrote A LIABILITY, some people can handle alcohol very well, but eventually they WILL make a mistake while intoxicated), you should and in some industries will get fired. That brings up cancer, if you have cancer, and are unable to perform your job, are you saying that your employer still owns you a paycheck or the standard of work he expects out of you should decrease? If you really think so than that's the biggest heap of liberal dung I ever heard. Like I said, if you are a drug user, and it doesn't matter if it's legal or not, you should bear the concequences. I don't care if you have an addiction, or just a casual user. I don't have to or want to put up with someone who is under the influence or has permanent damage because he messed himself up, nor do I own them a living through my taxes because they messed themselfs up, or were using drugs, got fired and are sitting on wellfare, and think about how many people would get fired for using newly legalized drugs and go on wellfare? That's why I brough Canada into the picture. It's already a mess of a country, becoming more and more like Holland everyday. Social structure decaying, businesses leaving or getting cripled, people getting taxed the hell out of to support the incompetent government, so why not just help them out, legalize the drugs in Canada, and that way kill more than 2 birds with one stone. The DRUGEES can go to Canada to do their drugs legally ( and Canadian industry will have no choice but to hire them, because apparently in liberaly socialistic views those drugees are considered to be ill, and therefore can not be discriminated upon for their "condition" ), get extra income from controling those drugs ( that income will be eaten up by the ever expaning socialistic government ), and US will have a reduction in drug trafficing ( it's easier to go to Canada and do all that stuff legaly, while still having a job and a family *oh what a picture*), reduction from drug trafficing means less taxes spend on fighting drugs, also the crime rate and incompetence should drop. Now what do you have against that marvelous idea?

quote:Originally posted by Epsilon 5: quote:Just legalize ALL of it,Are you CRAZY? Either you are, are you don't know the power / strength of some of those drugs! Marijuana is the softest of them all, yet people are already largely affected by it. Anyway, I don't want to see co-workers shooting themselves at work. Those co-workers won't be using drugs if companies either don't hire drug users or fire them when discovered. And don't tell me that if it's legal then you can do it and your company can't fire you. As an example, some airlines won't hire you if you are a drinker or even a smoker, both of which is legalized drugs. So if you legalize all the drugs, but employes will refuse to hire the drugees, then the drugees will migrate to Canada, where they should also legalize the drugs, but of course the employes shouldn't descriminate against a non drug user and a drug user. Canada is a socialist country after all, where everyone is equal, eh?
-
Maybe Canada should legalize it. That way we kill 2 birds with one stone. Not only will we have something like Holland on this continent, but all the dopeheads will migrate to Canada, that way Canada can have their "revenue" and US will spend less money in grass control.

I don't think that it's that wrong to take a sick day off when you are not really sick. You are alloted a certain ammount of sick days a year, and if you decide to group them with your vacation, then be it. Once those sick days run out, you can't take time off from work anymore, even if you are really sick, so most people just wait untill the reset date (when their yearly alotment resets) and take the days off in the last 2 months or so. My point is, you don't get much vacation time, you don't get alloted a number of days off what you can use up anytime, so taking sick days off when you are not really sick makes up for that. We are people, not ants or bees. As for seeing a company appointed doctor, what are you kidding me. He will probably determine that my temerature of 105 is just temporary and not and indication of a flu. Can he tell when I have a killer migrane and just want peace and quiet? Can he diagnose a stomach ache that would make me want to curl up on the floor and weep? I don't think so. Companies alot sick days by a way of doing business. They determined how many days off a person can have and still make up those days off with profit to the company. So that's that.

Nuclear weapons is the best thing that ever happened to this planet. After their invention, countries that have those weapons realize the conseqiences of using them, that's one of the majour reasons there was no WWIII between Russia and US. There was a cold war instead, which is also good, because "war is the mother of invention". Space race, and thousands of other inventions came about because one country was competing against another. Now, space exploration is stagnating, there's nobody to compete against, no reason to be first. As for China, they are stockpiling their weapons not because they want to match US, but because they are literally running out of living space and eventually will want more territory. Why do you think they are only allowed to have 1 child? Because their country just can't handle anymore people, that's why. It's idiotic to assume that a country with the largest standing army in the world, and a place where everyone over 18 has had military training (it's mandatory), will not expand. What are you? Blind? They are selling their junk here, while using the money to beef up their military, not for research, not to build better products. Their products are all junk, but as long as they sell a lot of them to the fools in the US they still make out with the american $ for the military that can eventually be used against America. It's the same mentality here that we see from people saying that Sadam doesn't care about Israel and US, but just wants to be left alone, while he is siting there and is just waiting for a chance so that he can strike against Israel and US. Anyway, having nuclear weapons is a must. Having educated people who maintain and know how to operate those weapons is a definite must. Protecting your country from potential enemy, you betcha it's a must. WAKE UP, THE WORLD IS NOT A FRIENDLY PLACE. What do you think, those people who travel into other countries and get killed, put in prison, maimed, raped, robbed are just freak occurances? No, it's because you have been cudled here in the US, while the most part of the world is as barbaric and primal as something you would see on discovery channel, probably even worse than that because man is involved, and mans mind has no limit on inventing cruelty.

Yeah, every Simcity was fun, but I found myself playing it for maybe about 3 or 4 days before I would throw it on the shelf. It would just be repetitious, and I don't think that a game is good if it only has 4 days life on your computer. What I am really waiting for is MOO3, IG3, Freelancer, and of course anything from BC3000. I had MOO 1 and 2 and played both of them for months, played IG 1 and 2 for months too, and privateer (that's what they claim Freelancer is going to be like) I played that for close to a year, then left it alone for a year, and then came back and still played it for a couple of months. As you can see, the games that have the longest computer life are the most valuable, and Sims or Simcity are not one of them, no matter how fun they can be in the begining.

An expensive Christmas - The rising cost of games
Soback replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in General Chatter
I bought Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 Professional Edition (exchanged WCIII and threw in some more cash), and I would never complain about it's cost, even if it would cost $140. It's an investment, an hour in the sim costs $70, now that I got MFS I can get pretty much the same result. So it's better if you compare actual games rather than something that can be used to save you money instead. *ahem* Like for example certain cookie cuter games that cost more than $50 but if you didn't know the name you wouldn't even be able to tell it from the other game in it's genre. *ahem* -
When they started showing Chub Chubs I thought they were showing the wrong movie or something, but it looked so interesting that I didn't even want to question it.

Blizard makes kick @ss games, that's why at the end of me previous post you will read a sentece saying that Blizard is the last company I have expected to dissapoint me. I am not going to say that WCIII is a great game just because I liked the previous titles. They screwed it up, and that's that.
-
I (gammulan) would fly up to Galcom HQ, hail them, and say "You guys wanna see what I have".... "Now lets talk about tribute"

I did play on the scirmish map, and yes, the computer destroyed me about 7 times. Eventually I adjusted for the computers strategy, and realized that the only reason a computer will destroy you is because they made it so it cheats more. It gets more resources than you, and when it runs out of resources it gets a certain "grant" every couple of minutes. So instead of making the AI smarter, they riped out the AI from WCII and gave it more resources. Also how can you tell me you like the camera view? What other 3d game can you think of where you can't rotate the view 360 degrees, but instead have it fixed? ( I know you can rotate it 90 degrees left/right, but when you let go of the button the view swings back) Like I said, the only thing that is different in Warcraft III from Warcraft II is better graphics, and new units, but that's about it. And with only new graphics and units it's not worth the $60 by a long shot. The developers of WCIII should take a couple of lessons from the guys developing MOO 3 and IG 3, they are changing their games drastically from the previous ones. Blizard was the last company that I would ever expect to dissapoint me like this.

Here's a great example of a guy that would say that he is as good as a woman at being nurturing and motherly. He has a very soft voice (to a point where you can tell he is actually trying to soften it), his tone of voice changes to mimic something that of a female gender, he bends his hands at the wrists and seems to make a habit of holding one hand in the other. That is a guy that would stare you in the face and tell you that he can offer the child just what a mother can if not better. The truth is, why do you think he is obviously trying to act feminine (doesn't matter if he is gay), the answer is, because even if he doesn't realize it, he wishes he was a female, and that wishing makes him mimick womans actions, or at least what he thinks a woman acts like, and that's why I said show me a guy who says that he is as nurturing as a woman and I will show you a full blown homosexual, or someone who just wishes he was born a woman. That's also why a family has a male and a female in it, because one can not replace the other, a father is an example of a male, and a mother is an example of a female, therefore they behave different and treat their kids differently. What I don't understand is this movement towards unisex, where people are saying that a man can fulfill a role of a woman, or a woman can fulfill a role of a man. That's just plain bull. While one can act like the other, they will never BE the other. "Why not be oneself? That is the whole secret of a successful appearance. If one is a greyhound why try to look like a Pekinese?" - Edith Sitwell
