  1. Terrorist attack in Israel killed 17, and injured 50. Israel army is moving towards yasas residence. Also they retaliated by firing on known terrorists. Let's see how a second siege on arafat turns out. Also, something to thing about, 17 killed, 50 injured = all civilians. Israel army retaliated and fired on terrorists (not civilians).
  2. Come on guys, the discussion is not on who is stronger or bigger, it's on whether you think Israel will be attacked on the 6th or not. You do know that right now the arabs have missles lined up all along the border between Israel and arab countries and that Bush called the arab leaders today and warned them that Israel will retaliate with nukes if an attack happens on the 6th. I would say wait for Neverwinter Nights.
  4. Do you think Israel will be attacked on the 6th? (I am not going to list the reasons as to why in this thread, because if you have no knowledge in this complex matter then you have no business posting your ammateur opinions.)
  5. It was fun in the begining, but after about 3 hours I just didn't see the point anymore. I mean it's the same stuff, run and blow things up, the eye candy kept me fascinated for those 3 hours, and after that, it got really boring, repetitious, and depressing.
  6. Let me tell you what socialistic system I lived in. I lived in CCCP, or translated to English = Soviet United Socialistic Republics, in America it had a governmet system known as comunism, as you can see however, it has word SOCIALISM in the countrys name, and it was EVERYTHING that you are describing that socialism should be, EVERYTHING. Pretty much "equal" pay, everyone should love each other, common property with no insanely rich people or poverty. What a bunch of bull. What it really was is high officials had their private land outside of cities, huge 5 bedroom appartments with 8" ceilings, and cars. While the common worker, even if he had a university degree with a doctorate was living in a 2 bedroom appartment (if he was lucky, a family of 3 people usually had a 1 bedroom) had to stay in food lines for an hour just to get some food for the week, and use public tranportation for his whole life (a car was just unatainable). Oh yea, I know what you are going to say, it wasn't socialism or the system got hijacked by the government. Well here's my answer, IT WAS SOCIALISM, we were taught from kindergarden exactly the same things that you are talking about, and saw those things implemented, HOWEVER, we also saw how the greedy and criminal people took advantage of the system, got themselfs in top positions (didn't even need to be a high school graduate to get there, hmm.... what a surprise) and lived off the sweat of the workers, enjoying themselfs. So, my point is, I came to America, and yes, IT IS the best governmet system in the world (for now, while it's not fully overrun yet). I can go to school that I can't afford (costs more than my whole family makes in 2 years), own a car (SINCE 16) and have plans for a succesfull future life (something I would NEVER EVER have in Russia or ANY OTHER SOCIALISTIC country). So when I hear people like you talk about socialism, or those bastards who talk on TV, or Radio about changing American ways, be more CONSIDERATE of the poor, and increase social programs, it makes me want to....... That's not what I came to this country for, I didn't come here to rape it of it's economy/resources, but to make a better life for myself and my kids (when I will have some). Makes me sick looking at all those who don't belong here strip this country of everything that would make it great for those who actually want to have their family generations here.
  7. LOL, get BCM. You guys are way too funny. Anyhow, got BCM, got Morrowind. Neverwinter Nights I was planning to get anyway. I just went ahead and traded GTA 3 for Super Power and Rails Across America (anything from Strategy First always rocks, and super power seems like a pretty cool game *after the patch which I am downloading right this second*) So, thanks for all your suggestions. *Rant* Seems Take 2 has changed it's logo from *T2* to an *R* in a yellow square which seemed really familiar on that GTA 3 box. I didn't know what company that *R* was for. Really ticked me off when I found out that I bought a game that had anyghint to do with Take 2. *Rant*
  8. Well, I got Grand Theft Auto 3 today and am not impressed. In fact, I am thinking about returning it and getting something else. Any suggestions. Think along the lines of something that you can play more than once (dynamic), and pretty much any genre. I was thinking about that Jedi Knight or something but then I read a bunch of reviews that said the story is linear, so I immideatly turned away from that. So, anyone have any ideas?

  10. Yep, and in capitalsim, those grunts you are talking about DO get rewarded. Majourly. As opposed to socialism where you don't get anything but maybe a higher priductivity margin for next month because the guy who got the job of looking over you saw that you can do better. While in capitalism if that same guy sees that you can do better will give you a raise to keep you doing better and even possibly a promotion.

You will be oppressed. That's feudalism, not socialism. So all those succesfull people in capitalism own their own businesses? As for socialism it's exactly what Jaguar said it is. I lived in socialism, and he is absolutly right, you will be stuck in your own little slot and never get beyond it unless you know some people on top. So in a way it sound a lot like feudalism, the only difference is the government is the czaar, and they don't tell you that.
  12. quote:Originally posted by Dredd: Socialism-take the smart, honest, and/or hardworking people's achievements and give them to the lasiest genetically inferior sh*theads in the world, and say it's for the "good of society". Smart people get sick of it, work less, society is destroyed. Capitalism-take the smart, honest, and/or hardworking people's achievements, and give them to the smart, honest, and hardworking people. Let the lasy, genetically inferior shi*heads in the world starve and die. Society benefits because of increased work ethic so you DONT DIE.Lazy, uneducated, stupid people see the smart, educated successful people live good fulfilling lives. They want that for themselves too. 2 choices are given. Those lazy people can go the hard way and better themselves or they can nag and sue and get the rich people to pay the money to the poor people just because the rich people are more successful than the poor ones. Hmmm.... *sarcasm* sound fair enough. As for genetically inferior I would steer clear of that. Who is genetically inferior? Just because someone is poor or uneducated doesn't mean they are genetically inferior, all it means is they are either not that smart, or just haven't yet learned. Also I am not sure who exactly you categorize as genetically inferior, because a person who has some decease which prevents them from walking or speaking clearly might have some genetic pre disposition to that decease, HOWEVER, it doesn't mean that it will stop them from becoming successful, it just means that they might have more obstacles to overcome. 13. quote:Originally posted by Menchise: Soback, if your interpretation of human nature was true (i.e. that humans are inherently dishonest, greedy, and violent), then that would mean that both capitalism and socialism are against human nature, because in both societies, every single one of those offenders in your stories would have been prosecuted. Why? Because in both societies, their actions are criminal. Your initial argument has not only failed to add anything meaningful to the issue of human nature, it has also backfired as a pro-capitalist position!Actually it proved that capitalism would work quite nicely and socialism would destroy itself. As you will read my conclusion in story #1, if they would CHARGE people for the bicycles while giving them the discount (capitalism) then only those people who would use the bicycles would get it, AND actually USE them. While EVERYONE who could get their hand on a bicycle for .50c went ahead and took it, and didn't care about using it, they probably either resold the bike for their profit (ahem, attempted CAPITALISM in a socialistic idea) or wrecked it for fun. So that proves that is socialism where common property exists people wouldn't give a @#$%@# about that property as long as they got some fun/use/profit out of it, so destroying, stealing that property would be OK, and would be done just because people are fundamentally greedy wanting to have more and better things for themselves then their neighbors have. So read my post and gain some insight on those points I made in each conclusion. Also, note the sarcasm dripping from the last paragraph of "good" human nature. Next point. Remember the discussion where you were saying that people can't hurt each other because that makes them physically sick. Well, story #2 suggests otherwise. Story #2 actually proves that there are times when a perfectly sane person can get so upset that they can actually derive PLEASURE from hurting someone, and not just someone, but their own husband nonetheless. I myself have been so po'ed sometimes, just driving in my car, that if me and the person who pissed me off would somehow get beamed onto the side of the road, face to face, I would literally, without thinking would have fulfilled my anger in unspeakable ways. So human nature is therefore not complacent and kind, but ever-changing and can very well be drastically violent. One more reason socialism would not work, because in order for it to work your neighbor should want the same good for you as he does for himself and his family. However, in capitalism, you that anger can be turned to productive ways, like hating your business opposition would actually force you to make some adjustments to your products to get more $$$. While in socialism the only outlet would be either hurting others or some kind of medical treatments (shock therapy anyone?) Aaaah, and at last, story #3. Well, you can argue that capitalism forced that lady to store her relatives body in a freezer so that she could get money and survive. I however will argue that she could live on her own paycheck, (which was obviously enough to buy a house and a fridge to store the body of the relative in) and if socialism existed the same thing would happen because there still would be people who are greedy and always want more, and therefore one of the ways to get more would be to turn to crime (since you can't up your income much more from your neighbors by just being more educated, or by inventing something, or having more property, since there is no property, *remember everyone shares everything), unlike in capitalism, where you have the option of making more money by actually bettering yourself, creating your own business, or getting a better education, a system where not everyone is equal. 14. Cool, who cares if it's an add on or another game. As long as it's out and we can play it.
  15. Well, I was in my car, driving along and listening to news. A couple of stories poped up which made me remember some discussions here on the forums about human nature and how socialism is very good and capitalism is very bad. So here it goes. Story #1. Argument - Good human nature, greed/selfishness. A city near Berkley wants to reduce it's traffic congestion and reduce pollution (ok, not a bad idea). So they go about it in pure socialistic way, counting on good human nature. They buy 1,500 bicycles and install parking stalls for them all throughout the city. The idea is, if your destination is in the city, you can come up to the stall, pay 50c. and take the bike out of the stall, then you ride it to your destination and park it in the stall nearby. Then someone else can use that bike after you. Well, here's the outcome --> 700 bikes stolen by the end of the week, all bikes gone by the end of the second week. Conclusion. Did socialistic way work? NO. Is human nature good. NO. A good way to go about reducing polution and traffic congestion would have been... Get the list of people who live in that city. Mail them a cupon with witch they can buy a city selected type bicycle for $50, and the limit is no more bicycles than people in the household per 3 years. Reasoning is, if you pay at least some money for that bicycle you will take care of it, and you will only buy it if you will actually use it (not like you see a bicycle which you can take for 50c and sell somewhere else or just plain out wreck it for fun). Also as you can see from this, human nature is selfish, those people who took the bikes didn't care that other people might want to use it. Story #2. Argument - Good human nature. Wife kills husband. Why? She found out that he was cheating on her with a neighborhood tramp. She cut him up in 10 pieces, put him in a box and set the box on the doorstep of the woman that her husband was cheating with. Conclusion. Let me see, was there an outside AUTHORITY telling her to hurt her husband, to cut him up. Did she get physically sick when she was cutting him? I think she was actually rather enjoying the whole process. So what we have here is good ol human nature at work. (emphasis on good) Story #3. Argument - greed. A woman was collecting social security for her relative. What no one knew was that that relative was dead and stuck in her freezer for 5 years. Yeah, that's right, she stuck his body in her fridge so that there would be no funeral and therefore she could still collect his social security and keep it. (or maybe she was just saving up for his REAL funeral). Yeah, fat chance. Conclusion - People are not greedy. No, not at all, THEY JUST ALWAYS WANT MORE, while screwing others (that was your taxes paying that social security incase someone doesn't know) So anyone here want to discuss how socialism will still work because human nature is basically good and everyone of us wants good things to happen to our neighbours and share equally all our good earned stuff?
  16. By the way, you know that by bilingual support they mean spanish. Why doesn't everyone jump on the bandwagon and sue the government for not having Russian, Japanese, Chineese, Dutch, German, Arabic, ect.... Yeah, lets do that. PS. Hey Menchise, hope you get to read this post and remember me discussing America and how it should be one language, one culture. Well, now you see what happens when too many people don't become Americanized and want to create a piece of their country here. That's my taxes being wasted on those lawsuits, instead of putting them towards homeland security. What have you got to say now?
  17. "Failing to provide bilingual assistance". @#%$%@#$#@%$^@#$@#, if you don't know how to read, speak and write English, you have no business voting. [ 05-21-2002, 23:17: Message edited by: Soback ]
  18. You don't need to look at Superpowers forum, look at ANY forum.
  19. LOL, What is this pressure to go with AMD? $ilk, be tough, stick with Intell. As for Ddram, sounds a bit pricey, $300 for 512? I got my RDram 216 for $100, each 128 = $49.99
  20. LOL, gamespot actually went with their paid membership idea. Now I have to be a member to read previews and such. No end to stupidity, hmmm... Do I pay money or do I find some other free site? Let me think about that one.

    Morrowind

I thought that it would be pretty easy to put in MP for Morrowind, just would take time, but I am no programmer so Dereks explanation pretty much closes the whole thing. Anyhow, I uploaded some more pics from the game, they are on Morrowinds official forums in the thread named "My experience in Morrowind" so if anyone wants to see, they know how to find it, or I will just come back in 30 minutes and post a link here.

    Morrowind

By the way, gotta bring this up. Take Diablo and Diablo II for example. They are not very deep games, they don't have very pretty graphics, the only thing that made that game a major hit was it's COMBAT MECHANICS, I mean it was just awesome, the animations, the style, the BASIC FEEL of it just felt right, and that's why people kept coming back and playing it over and over again. MP didn't detract from it's SP and developers didn't try to cut down their work by making up excuses that it would. So just by comparing one RPG to another you can tell what points make a good RPG, and from that you can also tell that Morrowinds combat really leaves A WHOLE LOT to be desired.

    Morrowind

Of course getting the multiplayer into this game is difficult, I never said it was easy, but it certainly can be done. Redo the inventory so that the game doesn't pause during MP when you access it, and redo whatever else needs to be changed to play in MP. Look at Derek, he is redoing many aspects of BCM in order for it to work in MP. It's like having 2 modes of play, one SP, one MP, it's not easy, but it can be done, so they just didn't want to put the time into it, what should be done is at least have the MP released later on in a patch, but saying that it would detract from SP is not only plain out lying it's stupid. Next point, I have to agree with Picaso on the combat part. Yes, the target receives different ammount of damage depending on strenght and style of a swing, but come on. The animation of combat is plain out ridiculous for this day and age, it literally looks like you are swinging at the air and not your opponent. Also when you do score a hit the "blood splat" that you described doesn't even look like it's coming from the target but rather an area around him. It doesn't take a genious to figure out that the game has been very much rushed in it's development and designers concentrated mainly on graphics leaving very little to the gameplay mechanics itself. Granted, there is a storyline, but even that is somewhat poorly done because there is no really measurable rewards for most of the missions and besides all the talk about it being deep, it's not. So while I am captivated by this game for now, I know perfectly well that once the novelty of looking at the scenery wears off, there will be nothing left to make me continue with this game, for it has poor game mechanics (combat, rewards) and only somewhat interesting storyline. As for running fine. You can check my specs under my signature. I am reporting no lags, the only slow downs I have is during transition from one mission zone to another, after it loads the game runs very smooth with no choppy/laggy graphics. Morrowind

I can take you on anytime. Doh, there is no multiplayer. And get this, their stupid excuse is that it would detract from the single player. Why can't they tell the truth and just say that they didn't want to put extra time in it.

    Morrowind

Me overlooking Sedya Need from it's lighthouse Guess what race I am playing Me with the helmet off Climbing a treeactually improves your acrobatic skill. That big insect looking thing is a silt rider that you can use like a taxi between cities. This is a drowned guy I found in an underwater cave. That's him again. And this is the night sky that I was talking about in my review. Ok guys, with my persistence I learned how to upload pics so that other people on the net can see them. If you want to see more and really cool places just say so, also if there's any requests I am thinking of creating the same type thread for BCM so that people can post their pics. This is great.
