You think that it's just a coincidence that Arabic people just happen to come to US and hijack and crash those planes? Do you think it might as well have been a white, black, chineese, japaneese or mexican guy? [ 11-25-2001: Message edited by: Soback ]

  3. No not the FC icon # color. The shipts status. YOUR CC. The huge ship that you fly around in. Is it's status red? Go into LOGISICS and look in the bottom right corner, it will say if it's either red, yellow or green status. If it's in green then don't worry about anything, assign your 2 of your flight engineers to ready the FC and leave it alone for 30 minutes, don't bother them, nothing. If it's yellow, do the same thing, but also repair your CC, the big ship. If it's red, then repair your CC untill the status changes to either yellow or green before assigning flight engineers to ready FC.
  4. I better back up the old files befove I apply that nav patch, if it doesn't work then I will report and put the old files back. By the way, that message 4 posts up, it's not mine.
  5. Hey you know what. I can give you some examples of racial profiling, I conducted this experiments myself and HAVE THA DATA TO BACK IT UP. 1. Majority of drivers for hondas that are suped up, lowered and have racing stripes are chineese. I counted 40 hondas like that fit that description. 33 of out of 40 drivers for those hondas were chineese. 2. I was looking at garden workers, the people who cut bushes and grass in front of houses. Counted about 15 trucks, you know what race those garden workers were? Mexican, yes, that means about 2 to 4 workers per truck and ALL of them Mexican. YES, not all of the hondas that are I described have chineese drivers, and not ALL the garden workers are Mexican, but if a honda like that passes me on the freeway I will bet you $20 bucks that it has a Chineese driver, or if I see a gardeners truck on the street I will bet you $20 bucks that the gardeners are Mexican. I will not win all the time, but trust me, I will win most of the time and walk off with a huge profit. So racial profiling does work. And by the way, YES, the majority of hijackers are Arabic. In the 70s and 80s when US had on average about 1 hijacking every 2 months and had sky marshals on planes if you don't belive me then go do the research for yourself and you will see who the hijackers were.
  6. quote:Originally posted by Tac: [*]Docking on a friendly station will give you free "needed to repair" items (mighty cool!). But they dont speed up the time needed to make the repairs. I spent 2.5 hours repairing 8 systems that were below 50%. That part royally sucked. Good thing I had rented a movie. In MP this would be a major downer. It would be nice if repairing when docked meant your engineers repaired stuff 4X as fast (them having the station grease monkeys to help and stuff). [ 11-25-2001: Message edited by: Tac ] I got damaged really badly once. All the systems were damaged, some were completly gone. I couldn't even hyperjump and could barely fly under my own power. Repaired the whole ship in 2 hours. I like the repair times for a lot of reasons but I will tell you 2 of them. First, it makes you think before taking stupid chances, and I mean really think. Second, the game doesn't have a feel of some arcade simulation that way. For example, I loved IWars flight engine, but I hated pretty much everything else about it. I mean if your ship is damaged and is fully fixed in a minute or 2 then it stops being fun after about 2 or 3 fights, first they become repetitious, you get damaged, you fly away, 2 minutes later you come back, repeat the process untill enemy is dead, second the game had such and arcade feeling it shouldn't even have been called a space simulation, ugh. So as for being able to fix the ship faster, nah, it's fine the way it is.
  7. quote:Originally posted by PegasusJF: 2. I must insist, we need time acceleration. I apologize, but I can be an impatient man and wish to get to the action in all haste. No way. On this I completly dissagree. Not only does the game take enormous ammount of resources to play as it is, can you imagine what would happen with time acceleration. Not only that but I really like the feel of the game when you actually have to PAY for the mistakes you do instead of messing around and if something doesn't work out you can start a new game, deploy mining drones, sit in some safe sector and acumulate tons of money for upgrades. This game is not aiming for some arcade wanabe or some brainless attempts at space simulation that are out on the market right now. It's a SIMULATION, and a DEREK SMART SIMULATION at that.
  8. Don't worry about the number changing color. Just make sure your ship is not on red status, set the, and have patience.
  9. Set 2 flight engineers to ready it and forget about it for 20 minutes (+/-5) and see if that helps. I had my flight engineers drinking beer and talking on the job a couple of times so you gotta give them some slack. What can you do, can't shoot them cause you need them, but they sure are lazy.
  10. Yes, and that happens because they refresh TOO FAST. Anyway, for now you can select the mission zone you want from the menus to the left in the TACOPS view. Later, it will be fixed so that they flash slower and you will have time to see all of them and click.
  11. Ok, if you are talking about BCM then those rectangles flashing are mission zones, they should be flashing like this (appearing and dissapearing) it draws you attention to them and is not a bug. If they are flashing a little too fast to select them (known and will be updated so that they flash slower in a later patch) then you can select it from the menu you can find to the left of the screen in TACOPS.
  12. quote:Originally posted by Sadistic: Well, see that's my point. If there's absolutely no use for Cigarettes and whatnot then why did Smart even put em in the game? [ 11-25-2001: Message edited by: Sadistic ] He put them there so that traders can buy them at one station and sell them at another for profit. It adds variety to the ammount of items you can trade. How would you like to trade an item named "ITEM 1" and "ITEM 2" and so forth.
  13. Ok, the crash after 10 to 15 minutes problem, solved. My mistake was to copy my saved games from the old install when I was playing with the beta patch and transfer them to the new install updated with the new patch. I got rid of those old save files in the save folder and the game doesn't crash anymore. Here's the odd thing though. Now that I have started a new game and deploying mining drones, when I deploy a drone on Gamma-1, then check the status of how full it is from Tactical, it says that the drone is deployed at WRM-18. Then for the drone I deployed at Tyrinis it says that it's deployed at JMP-60. What's that? I distinctly remember that in my previous games it was listing the correct planets for deployed drones. Now it just lists these gyberish names.
  14. That's what SC is here for. He is one of those developers/publishers who ACTUALLY CARES about the problems people have with the game.
  15. I can reproduce mine everytime (read second post from the top). All I have to do is start a new game and wait for 10 to 15 minutes. Don't even need to do anything. It's weird because it didn't use to do it pre-patched. Reinstalled the whole game, patched it up properly, still does it.
  16. quote:Originally posted by Captain Dread: Hey, when your time is up and you have to retire, will there be an option to start a new game in the same world you retired from? That way all of your hard work capturing enemy starstations and making them your own won't be wasted. Yeah, but you yourself wil probably be so old and slow that when the CO says "MARINES ENGAGED IN COMBAT ON DECK 3" a minute later you will say "WHAT DID THAT GENTLEMAN SAY?" But you can always leave the save game for your kids to finish.
  17. quote:Originally posted by Tac: BC3K: Getting rammed by an enemy station (*cough*), and having massive damage to my bridge... and only ME, the Commander got hurt..with life down to 3% . I think I still have a pic of that perscan lol. RP I am the commander, I decide when I need seatbelts and when I don't. Don't I look cooler without them too? RP.
  18. NOTE: CRIMINAL and SERIAL KILLER are different. So you have different profiles.
  19. Jeez Captain Dread, the name suits you.
  20. The drones move so fast I can't imagine having to chase after them in a shuttle if you would have to be within a certain distance to pick one up.
  21. Yeah, you don't need to know exactly where they are to pick them up. You do the same thing as when you drop them off, but reverse the command for pick up and don't worry about where you place the waypoint, if you droped the dron off in the north, you can still pick him up in the south.
  22. LOL, toggle off intruders. RP. Hmm, I don't feel like being boarded today. Why don't we post a huge sticker on the ships. "NO INTRUDERS ALLOWED. RP.
  23. You can use the tab to use the afterburner in reverse.
  24. And if they don't regenerate, could you make a patch so that when you apply it it renews the minerals on the planets? But could you do it before those 65 years are up.
  25. I like seeing those littel bugers floating around the station.
