  1. I have said this a thousand times. SO WHAT? What if it does kill civilians? Those are the people that support the Taliban and those are the people that are willing to fight to the death to protect osama. Yes, maybe not all of them, but are you willing to loose American soldiers to protect those people who wouldn't even fight for themselfes and let their government kill their families and then go into other countries and kill civilians, I am not. Well, if they won't fight their government then we just have to clean up this mess and having our soldiers killed is not the way, it's like cancer, you have to get rid of some of the good tissue to get all the bad.

    Hi guys.

Yeaaaaa, I am BAAAAAAAAACK. Here's what I got. Asus P4t Motherboard P4 1.6ghz processor Asus V8200 GeForce 3 T2 w/64mb ddram, 3d glasses some software and some games, apparently this thing can do video capture and some other nice stuff. Creative Soundblaster Live - also had some nice software and a bunch of extras in sound edditing and I can plug a joystick through it. All other things like HD, CD-RW, floppy is from my old computer. I called EB, they said that they will be getting BCM this saturday. Can't wait.
  4. I haven't been able to log on for a couple of days, and the only reason I am on now is because I am at my friends house. Anyway, I read over this thread and it sounds like a bunch of bull. I remember when the demo was released and some people would come in and stir up things by posting phony problems and after a couple of posts you could tell that they haven't even downloaded the demo because their posts were so vague. This looks like the same thing. The guy is so vague that it feels like he is just trying to bug SC and all the vets. If this would come from a vet then I would listen but since this guy offered no evidence then he is either stirring up things or trying to cover up for his friends. Either way he should be banned. PS - My system is almoust done. It's P4 1.6, P4t ASUS motherboard, 256RDram, ASUS GeForce V8200 T2 Deluxe with 3d glasses and some games. Derek, bring on your BCM.
  5. Hi everyone. I haven't visited the boards for 3 days. Got a little bit of a problem with my computer. I was trying to change the 3d card and burned out my motherboard. Can't tell the story right now (don't have much time). Anyway, since I don't have a computer I decided to build a new system and should have it up and running by wedneday or thursday. Also I am taking this "opportunity" to upgrade to P4 1.6 with a GF3 card, so I guess in a way it all works out for the best and right in time for BCM. Well, talk to you all in a couple of days on my new PC. Take care, bye.
  6. As for remotly controlled, if the enemy figures out the frequency and jamms it, then I don't think I have to tell you the rest.
  7. Dodge anti-armour weapons? Where do you get such an idea? Do not translate games such as mech warrior or that game where you wear an armour suit into real life. Do you have any idea how fast a missle or a balistic shell goes? You wouldn't even have time to blink your eye. The only way you would have some warning is if it's fired from far away and you detect it and even then if it's a homing missle fired from the plane take out your bible or whatever you use and make peace with yourself. Enough armour to stop soilder carried weapons? Ever hear of bazooka? Wanna stop that from 200ft? Actually you are right, it will stop it don't forget though, it will stop you too.
  8. Let me make a correction, you don't need to fly the plane between 2 hills for ATC not to see you. You can just fly low enough so that the line of sight between you and the radar is blocked, then the radar will not be picking you up. Radar = line of sight.
  9. You think that you see red dots on radar in real life? Look, all you see on radar is your radar beams being reflected off of objects that do reflect them so if a tank is between 2 buildings and you have a radar, guess what, you are not going to see that tank between them. That's why if you fly an airplane between 2 hills the ATC can't see you on their radar. Life is not like in the games. Second, if you see that tank on radar but he is not in line of sight, then you have to deliver a weapon to that tank. The way to do it is from the top because it's not in line of sight, and if there is something over that tank or the topology around the tank is too steep then how are you going to arc that weapon to the tank? Think about that.
  10. Maybe he just posted in the wrong forum. Ok, a good place to start is to read the product page and the reviews. Hard to belive, but I guess it is possible to totally missenterpret the game.
  11. quote:Originally posted by dnoyeB!: If we banned big businesses, America would be a utopia. Fewer filthy rich but much less crime and starvation. I haven't solved the unfortunate side effect of banning big businesses which is to give us a trade deficit with neighboring countries... This all sounds interesting, why don't you expand on that. Here's the thing though. You ban Albertsons from my neighbourhood where 30 people work. You open up 3 or 4 little food stores where I don't know lets say 10 people each. First of all I don't know if little stores really need that much people, last time I was in one it had only 2 to 4 working in it but also then you have more competition between those stores and then some of them will have to close to leave 2 stores open, then instead of having one big store with 30 people you have 2 small stores with 15 and that creates more unemployment. Maybe I just don't understand it correctly.
  12. Actually if any of you guys are getting popular science magazine, check a couple issues back, I think 3 or 6. They have an article of new armour for the troops. It's basically an outer sceleton. What it does is, it doesn't cover the whole of the body but kinda goes along the sides and a little on the front of the chest. So it got this motorized joints that will help the soilder carry the weight easily, that way he doesn't get very tired. Another type of armour was very interesting. That one was covering all of the body and would allow the soilder to run really fast and yes, jump higher. Not 30ft but I think somewhere along 10 to 15ft and the shock of the landing would be absorbed by the springs in the legs of the armour, they did say it was hard to use and one wrong step could send you rolling like a ball. Also they had this incredible helmets that have night, infrared vision build it. It points out the target and also has a computer build into it so that a soilder can comunicate with the base at all times. So this ideas are incredible. Someday we will see them in reality, and here's my reason why. Did anyone read 3000 leagues under the sea? That book was written by a guy who lived in times where nobody even thought of submarines. Or what about the book (forget the name) where people go to the moon and set up mining colonies. You also have star treck where you see all of them using PDAs and other science fiction books and movies that came from imagination when nothing resembling the stuff in the books even existed. As you can see, people want to excell (well at least some do, some are still stuck in midevil times) and that makes them use their imagination and look at fiction and then say "hmm... maybe we can really do this, whouldn't that be great". Who thought 40 years ago about a space station around earth, it was only fiction, well now we are building one, AND planning a trip to Mars. So who knows, maybe someday you will see mechs as war machines, maybe not on Earth, but what about some planet with low gravity where you can strap on some jets on the mech and make is as mobile as you want.
  13. Tsk tsk tsk, comparing BCM to Homeworld. That's LUDICROUS!!!!!!!!
  14. Yeah, I tried exactly that, but when you grab the waypoint again the screen flips so that you are looking at that waypoint from the top again. I will take the liberty of explaining about the homeworld waypoint placement. You see, in homeworld you ships are so to say dumb, unless you click on an enemy they will sit there and let themselfes be pounded in BCM you have smart pilots who can make their own decisions on what manuever to make and which weapons should be fired and when to fire them and where to fly. In BCM AI controlled units (under your command or not) are able to think for themselfes so you don't need to micromanage every aspect their lifes. Final words, BCM and Homeworld are not even on the same scale, BCM is a simulator, a Derek Smart simulation at that, when did you see a commander telling his fighters how to fly, your job is to set an objective, plan and let your pilots take care of the rest, or you can just jump in the figher yourself, tell them to protect you so they will be your wingmen and go do the mission preciselly the way you want. Man that sounds great.

  16. quote:Originally posted by $iLk: We need to put Michael Savage in charge of this nation. Oh yea, then you would start seeing some major changes taking place. Hypothetical situation. Let's say that when you file your taxes you have like this 5 or 10 page booklet with all of the fields or social programs and other ways your money can be spend. So you have to check the check boxes next to them if you want some of your taxes to go there. Then we would see fast what is considered unneeded by the people and what is not. So that a program that few think is needed will get less money than a program that a lot of people support. That's just a less extreeme kind of way for those who don't like my hardcore, fist through the wall remarks.
  17. You need to add "... untill it was too late."
  18. There's one big plus going for mechs. If you destroy it, then the nuclear reactor powering it will blow spreading radioactive stuff over enemy territory. So not only does it kill the enemy when it works, it continues killing after it's destroyed.
  19. Originaly posted by $iLk __________________________________________________ The intention of the founding fathers of America wasn't to start a hundred social programs to take care of freeloaders, yet because it's going on now __________________________________________________ Yeah, in my view Democrats are just like comunists. The people who make $200,000 a year have to pay 50% taxes to take care of the people who have 10 kids or pay social security for people who haven't worked here a day. I know that this is on a side note, but if you have 10 kids and don't belive in birth control or abortion then OBSTAIN from you know what instead of taking money from someone else who is trying to provide a better life for their kids or maybe wants to put off having kids untill he has a couple of grand a month to put away so that he can raise one and give them a kind of life they should have. Lets say you make $100,000 a year, and you don't have to pay for all the free loaders, that will be about 5% less taxes, that's 5,000 you can spend on your kids school, or whatever else they might need. I am not even talking about all the beurcratic, wastefull, unneeded social programs you have sucking money out of the government. Also understand that I am not talking about wellfare for 6 months or student grants and other helpfull things. If someone lost their job and needs a little help to get back on track that's fine, but if you receive wellfare for over a year then you are a bloodsucking tick. How long does it take to find a job? If you are a student who wants a better education and learn more then you should have all the money to do so because then you will be able to better contribute once you educate yourself. But because of all the other things taking money away from where it really needs to go, people who want to have a better life, learn more, and provide more for thier families have to suffer.
  20. I think there is going to be a little something going on between the T'pal and the engeneer guy.
  21. Ok, fired up EP2 demo, tried setting altitude, have no idea how. Altitude seems to be changing on it's own. Must have been thinking about something else, sorry. I guess if you want to attack something then just set it as a valid target and leave it to the descretion of the pilot.
  22. You mean to tell me it's not possible? What am I thinking of then? BC3000 AD or something else. I am going to go try doing it and see what hapens. I could swear that I distinctly remember setting altitude for something. Gonna go try.
  23. Yeah, it might be well armoured, but still, when there's 10 bazooka missles hurling at your chest, how much armour would you need?
  24. Silk is completly right. I would say the same thing but with stronger and very upseting words. So I am just going to say that Silk is COMPLETLY right.
  25. Ok, lets say we can build mechs and they are cheaper then planes. What would be easier to aim and destroy, a plane that is at 25,000ft and looks like a small dot or a huge hunk of metal walking down the street?
