  1. Too bad I can't see it.....
  2. Ah, yes. Our famed Orion Support Group, the 22nd IMB. Of course we're recruiting. Our Marine and Pilot numbers have dwindled down so badly, since people have been having real life time constraints, that we're sorta desperate for them. But also remember that we're still up for a few good commanders. (Remember that marines don't get space craft......) You'd do nicely here in Orion. We've got a great little community brewing up at the Orion Forums. (If the link is down, it may be down for maintainance--the server's in the UK. The time zones make it around 6AM there, at the time of this writing; perfect time for them to run a maintainance. ;p ) Anyway, did you know that $ilk, the Orion Fleet Recruitment Officer just enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps? That's pretty cool, how you've got experience there, IMO. You'll fit right in. I hope you decide to shift to Orion. Contact Fleet Commander Blades ( [email protected] ), and he'll get your paperwork (as in Fleet DB assignment) done. Then he just might send you over to have a chat with me (either through ICQ or AOL IM) for Newbie Orientation. I'll be free tomorrow, so I'll be expecting you. Nova, over and out. 3. Stormshadow, welcome aboard. I think that Firestorm you're so used to playing with won't be following you in Multiplayer. If you join a Fleet, you can only have a Super Carrier if you're high ranking.... If you don't join a fleet, and choose a non-military caste, then you won't get a Super Carrier as an option. But I do tell you. If you want action, head to Orion. On the edge of humanity (much like Wraith Fleet), we defend Sol from our location at Alpha Centauri. The Insurgent super-station, New America is also nearby, and we just might plan on taking action on it one of these days. It may be something to remember. Anyway, like Thomas said. Each fleet has a specialty. So if you like the heavy-combat, join Orion. We're going to have the last laugh in multiplayer. Just remember that the we (and all fleets) do more than just our specialty. We've got lots of opportunities to make yourself known in the BC Online world. I'd like you to just imagine yourself being at your full potential. Even though I can't choose for you, I'd just like you to consider Orion. We take only the best of the best. So if you have what it takes, then by all means do it. Be seeing you. quote:Originally posted by Charles Lindsey: Why? LMAO! quote:Originally posted by Thomas Siemens: Check the Fleets FAQ, and look into some of the sites, usually linked in the signatures. After that, choose wisely! Why not try something new? That old document (Fleets FAQ) is over a year old.... I've created one of my own, that appears to give the newblood a better view of the fleets as a whole. I speak in regular everyday terms, to get the n00bs to understand what a fleet does, to help them choose. I've even included the newer indie groups, Intercorp Unlimited and the (not yet confirmed) Terran Core Systems Police, and also updated information on the various wings and battle groups of the fleets (including the new ISS ones). It's great overall... It's just WIP. Orion Fleet RP Source | New Recruit Info Page (Yes, it's the same link that goes under "Newbie Welcome Wagon", in my sig.) Hm... WIP... Speaking of which, I just might get around to finishing the Orion Fleet Handbook, sprucing around the RP Source site, and finishing up that New Recruit page this weekend..... 4. Here. (bcm1002.exe)Put that link to your system specs in your sig. See the UBB Code Page for more information on this. It should look like this: [ url=http://www.3000ad.com/register/profile.php?id=### ]System Profile Info[ /url ] Replace the ### with the actual number that's in your RegDB system specs link, and take out the spaces between the brackets. Until you do so, you cannot recieve any more tech support. Nova, over and out.
  5. Me four! On to business...... quote:Revised the inflation rate calculation. Good luck generating millions in Earth region Damn! quote:Revised the mining drone mining logic. It now takes 400 mins to fill up completely and can mine up to 10 types of minerals (up from 5) 400 mins? Damn damn damn!!! (He loves torturing us vets, doesn't he? ) Hey everybody! Find more bugs!! Because if he doesn't squash bugs in patches, he'll squash all our favorite loopholes and stuff!!! (I just had to say it. ) At least the SC's done something with the intruders: quote:Intruders will no longer board your ship if the EMD is on or you are in hyperspace Well, good job SC. Bug free since 1.0.02 RC5 for me.... Just don't get too happy-go-lucky with those little tweaks to the BC Economy..... I've still got to earn a decent buck. 6. Well, let's see..... This was 2 years ago. BCM was still a long way away, and SC still had time on his hands. I bet if we pester him enough after Multiplayer, BCM:XP, and whatever, then he just might start to RP a bit again.... (And that I'd love to be around for.) But that's just wishful thinking, and there's still a bit to go before MP and BCM:XP...... [ 12-06-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  7. Yeah, this was supposedly also in the demo, but I couldn't find it...
  8. Out-of-context (OOC): So, I'm on Team Two? I wasn't sure at first, but, okay.... This is going to get so interesting.... I'll post soon. [ 12-07-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  9. quote:Originally posted by chris506: TA02 is based around a ground vehicle!!!!!!! TA02 [bCTA0003] EF Marine Elite Force Marine Training Err.. You should have designated which one you were talking about. SC musta thought you meant BCTA0002..... Not the one you're talking about. There's 2 parts to the IA/TA designators/names, so you've got to be careful.
  10. There wasn't anything in the manual, but it's in the appendix... And I think it's the same as the BC3k one. Looks like it to me. But, either way, I'll post an excerpt of it. quote:2328: First colony built on Mars. Consisted mainly of military and research personnel but later expanded to include commercial ventures in the areas of biology, cartography, mineralogy, and military research. 2899: A Terran deep space probe, Voyager 2, discovers extra-terrestrial life in Alpha Centauri. Space research is boosted by 75%. Work begins on new engines, reactors, and spacecraft components. 2907: The first long range MassDrive reactor, which used a mineral mined from asteroids as fuel, is developed. 2910: The android Arianne sends back supporting data of intelligent life from its flyby of Alpha Centauri. 2915: Scientists continue to explore methods of halting the human bodyÔÇÖs metabolism in order that it could endure deep space travel. The first stasis experiments are performed on animals. 2919: Stasis experiments are performed on Terran subjects. It becomes possible to reduce the bodyÔÇÖs metabolism by stasis. Some subjects were in this form of ÔÇÿhibernationÔÇÖ for as long as 5 years with no side effects. It becomes possible for a body to remain in stasis indefinitely. By further expanding on this technology, a device is developed which creates the proper conditions within an environment, such as a space ship, that would allows the bodyÔÇÖs metabolism to progress at its normal rate relative to the distance traveled. This, and the increased speeds of new engines, makes space travel far easier. Traveling vast distances at several times the speed of light, takes a matter of months instead of years. The term light speed (LS) was used in measuring the distance traveled by a spacecraft. Lightspeed is equivalent to the speed of light or approximately 299,800 km/sec. 2925: The first military research spacecraft is completed. The Sphinx class Battlecruiser, Seeker. This craft was fitted with a MassDrive reactor and Syrian Mark IV engines. With advanced hull design and life support systems this ship could withstand the harsh forces of interstellar space on its journey to Alpha Centauri. It is capable of speeds in excess of several times the speed of light. 2926: GCV-Seeker is commissioned for deep space travel. Its crew, all veteran astronauts, were handpicked from advanced nations on Earth. The crew was put in stasis during the long journey. Their mission: to explore Alpha Centauri and ÔÇÿmake contactÔÇÖ with intelligent life. 2928: GCV-Seeker is intercepted by an alien lifeform. Contact is made with mankindÔÇÖs first extra-terrestrials, the Empirians. 2965: The UFN declares the Insurgents an outlaw organization. 2967: The first navigation chart is completed. It divided the galaxy into four quadrants with each being named after the predominant occupying alien nation. 2993: The situation in the Terran quadrant went from bad to worse and the instability in other quadrants threatens to cause even more problems. EARTHCOM is hard pressed to carry out its duties. Galactic Command, GALCOM is formed. 2998: GCV-Stargazer, GCV-Recovery, and GCV-Starsearch are lost in the Gammulan quadrant. 3000: Galactic Command steps up its recruiting campaign as a result of increased conflicts within the Terran quadrant, the disappearance of more vessels in the Gammulan quadrant, and rumors of an invasion by an alien force.
  11. No, I don't think I've ever run into you in AW. I do, occasionally get on, but I'm just a simple tourist. Ep5 and I used to run into each other all the time (especially during the early stages of the little Orion place he set up).
  12. No, not really. It's not strange... But I really don't think anyone would launch a full-scale attack with shuttles as the front-end. Now that would be strange (and funny). And anyway, if they're towing, they've got shields down. If they've got shields down, then they're twice as easy to kill! [ 12-05-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  13. I just got mine, Jamont. Worth the wait.
  14. It's at the same bcm1002.exe it's always been at. SC's just been replacing that file with the newer one. Go download it. You'll notice the bigger file size than last time. That's how I figured it out. (I've got a copy of most of the patches from 1.0.01 RC3 all the way to the new 1.0.02 RC6. It's there.) [ 12-04-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  15. And that's why you trade: so you can get cash for upgrades. Also, if you've got a carrier, use that cloaker! It may turn the tide of the battle! (And I've found that the pilots really do suck, until higher AI levels, so you're exactly right about them not helping.) My hint is to get the PAD as soon as you can. Get a waypoint at around 100k from the station you're trying to attack/capture, and then try to hit it from a distance with it. Takes a steady hand (with a joystick), and some patience; the PAD isn't the super-weapon you want it to be. (Or what I want it to be, at least. ) Trust me on these little hints. I accidently blew up New America while trying to capture it, using the PAD. New America, people! Watch out Gammula! 'Cuz I'm probably on my way! (Time to use those fluxfields...)
  16. Oooh! Cool! It sounds great, man. Join the RPing ranks of the forums, and keep up the great work. You really should send that to the SC.... Maybe post that on the RP boards, too. I'd like to see what some of the old-timers say on this. Heh. There was a time when no one knew about any of the Alien Nation's social/military structures. Shingen asks this, and then that pops into someone's head, and *bingo*--what do you know? We've got a Gammulan Military being built. (Well, that's from my twisted angle, at least. I missed a whole bunch of the early Gam Military stuff, 'cuz I was out.) (Completely off subject--It's been a while since I read some of the threads in the back-pages of the RP forums.... I had no idea that $ilk was a mercenary.. (See here.) Cool. So the two major Public Relations people in Orion, the Newbie Welcome Wagon and Recruitment Officer, are both ex-mercenaries.... What a concept.) [ 12-04-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ] [ 12-04-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  17. You need to register the game to get into the site (once everything is updated, and said and done). While Laracuente waits for you to get your sig in place, I'll help you out. (SC only said that the restrictions on replying to someone was just for the tech support forums. ) I am the Newbie Welcome Wagon, after all. My favorite trade route is the Pluto->Lyrius->Jupiter and repeat. Jupiter lies right between Pluto and Lyrius, so it's all in one line. Pluto's Gazer1 Starstation has 0% inflation, and HT status, so buy as much HT stuff as you can. (I tend to go to Audio Disks and Equipment because it's right on top, and it's cheap enough for starting.) Wraith HQ at Lyrius has 20% inflation , and I think, RO or AD technology.... Sell those HT items, and don't buy anything. Finally, at Jupiter (I think Earthstar Station), you've got IIRC, 10% inflation. The station specializes in MN, or Minerals, so buy as many minerals as you can. Head off and sell them to the Gazer1. The only reason I use this route (opposed to other ones where you can make profit on all 3 legs), is that it's at the edge of Sol, and gives me nice access to a good portion of the Terran Quadrant. Once you've accumulated enough funds, I suggest going over to Lennen (next door to Lyrius), and capturing the Pixan starstation, if you're a military. That way, you get a ton of early funds. Also, if you've got shuttles, then have them tow any enemies to your friendly stations. A regular enemy (not the Galcom/Insurgent or Terran/Gammulan "arch-enemy" stuff) carrier is worth 1000 EP (experience), and 25000 GalCreds! And if you've got an "arch-enemy" ship, it increases; i.e. you're a Ter/Mil and tow an Insurgent carrier to a station, then you get 2000 EP and 75000 GalCreds! A bigger bonus than just blowing them up. And it doesn't matter if you directly tow them, or have your shuttles do the work.... (Personally, my shuttles are actually shot at only 20% of the time, because the enemy is usually already engaged with someone else.) Easy money. Nova, over and out. 18. Fan sites should also include the following copyright info: quote:Battlecruiser Millennium (BCM), Battlecruiser Online (BCO), Battlecruiser 3000AD (BC3K), and Xtreme Carnage, are all copyright property of 3000AD, Inc. (Not sure if this is 100% right, but it's the one I use on my site.) Edit: Noticed that it still said Galactic Command Online (GCO). I've changed it to BCO, after SC decided to change it's name. 19. It's all good, then. Also, I suggest you read one of the great RP classics, Preemptive Strike. It's a story about a secret attack on the Droidan homeworld. You won't be disappointed.
  20. I personally think that it was the Galaxians that did the Syrions and Droidans all along. The appendices don't really drop any clues, so I'm just taking a wild guess here, but think about it. The appendix states: (Regarding the Syrions: ) quote:No one quite knows where they came from and since only Syrions themselves are allowed anywhere near their highly restricted home base, speculation is high. (Regarding the Droidans: ) quote:This race is closely related to the Syrions but it is not quite clear how. Where the Syrions are part machine and part living tissue, the Droidans are all machine. No Droidan has ever been encountered outside the Syrion quadrant. They have been known to join in against the Gammulans in defense of the Syrion quadrant. It is certain that the Gammulans, and pretty much every undesirable entity in the galaxy are interested in learning the secrets behind the Syrion and Droidan nations. Due to the high level of security within their territories, it is impossible to venture into any restricted section of the Syrion quadrant without being intercepted. quote:There are those who believe that the Syrions and Droidans are responsible for linking the galaxy with wormholes and flux fields the way it is now. These claims have not been acknowledged by either race. Okay. The little bit about them joining up against the Gammulans with the Syrions basically nulls out any of that "Droidan vs. Syrion" stuff you came up with. That much I do know. The mystery of how they came to be, and the one about the wormholes and fluxfields could possibly be linked. Now, Obsidia, the "secret" planet is unique. It is linked to Alteris by a FluxField. Those aren't common; trust me. And on the other end of it's space, is a wormhole that leads to a Supernova. The planet is barren, and is inhabited by a single, lonely Galaxian probe. If I didn't know better, it looks like the place has been RANDOM-ed. Kinda fits along with the fact that the Galaxians are nowhere to be found anywhere in the known galaxy. Unfortunately, there are no facts supporting this, at the moment. Just a theory. So this is all my 2 cents, on this subject. If anyone else has other ideas, I'd be interested. I'm researching the Galaxians throughout the galaxy, and this is one of the things that may be linked. I'm guessing the SC's going to keep this under wraps until BCO comes out.... He said that the Galaxians may play a major role in one of the upcoming games..... Oooh.. [ 12-03-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  21. SC, here's something I noticed while playing yesterday. If you give a tow order for a shuttle to tow an object that's in hyperspace, it'll go to the destination, and get ready to tow it, right? Well, I had my shuttle on a "halt", while I waited for a carrier to come out of HJ, so it would be a bit closer. (They always seem to fly towards the ship itself, even though they're right on top of the HJ exit point.) Well, just as the ship arrived, I gave it the tow order again, and there it went. I had the shuttle follow me through a jumpgate. After I had gone through, I just noticed that the ship seemed to be cloaked. But when I checked the Tacscan, it said the ship was still in hyperspace, with "ETA: 00:00:00". I wasn't worried, so I had my shuttle disable the tow, waited for him to get out of HJ. It didn't. I mean, the FX for coming out of HJ appeared on the exterior view, and he was visible again, but the timer was still HJ at 00:00:00. So (foolishly,) I decided to tow him again, and then went on. The Tacscan viewer jumped the timer to "ETA: 47:21:23", and stopped moving. I'm guessing it has something to do with interrupting the exit HJ sequence, but I don't know. Just wanted to bring this up. And if you need, I have a screenshot for this.
  22. If we were having this in Active Worlds, we could spawn enough Shanubia for everyone! ....But too bad we're not.
  23. What a cheap way to get votes. I had to be the Newbie Welcome Wagon before people started really voting for me.... But I'll give you 4/5. Vote Nova, all the way! [ 12-02-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  24. Heh. No ship can demonstrate supremacy better than the Supremacy. Spacestar all the way! If you want to know, I like it's speed, manuverability, and armor. I'm kinda like a fighter pilot with a huge ship, the way I fly when I attack....
  25. In the long-gone days of RP, there used to be a bit of RPing in Active Worlds..... (This was before even I was around.) Now it's just a ghost town, where only a few head to. I'm hoping someday we can do something there. And another RP "did you know?": The SC used to RP, back in the day before BCM was in high gear development? (See Orion Lounge.) Welcome aboard, Barron.
