Well, I'll jump around 25 min ahead to 12:05 (I was at 11:40 last post). Oh yeah, I also added some of my ideas about BC technology here (medibay section, this would go under heat ingame?). See quoted section below. (RP) 12:05 hrs, 19th May, 3008 Modified LRT-15 Transport SS Vulture Meidbay (Speaking to Cmdr Foss) "Okay, I've moved around 8 people, and helped out 4 people with painkiller, antibiotic, and had 1 person that crashed and was near-death." I knew helping out here was a bad idea. "Alright. I need a break." I realized a cut on my arm (from the gun wound), opened again. "Crap, my arm... Have the Medibay computer get me some low density painkiller, and get me the Low End Med-Laser." quote:Description of Med-Laser: The Med-Laser was a device that would first scan your DNA and flash-create skin cells on demand for you, and close nearly all wounds on you, by streaming fresh skin cells and focusing a light-density laser onto the skin, speeding up the scab-to-skin process. Although it was a miraculous device, you would still have to use a higher density, and more complicated version for surgeries on viral organs, like the heart, lungs, or brain. The Vulture's HD Med-Laser was damaged. Great. This made surgery a lot harder. Since I've been a little rusty with my medical experience, I wonder if any new technologies for this have been developed recently for surgery? 5 minutes later... I got my arm healed, and went to my quarters. This was the worst F#*$*% day of my life. Foss noticed me and said, "Where you going, Nova? You know we don't have enough Med Crew here." I replied, "I need some sleep. Besides, I'm no COMmie. I ain't takin' orders from you." {Mumble}"30+ hrs nonstop at work, no sleep. Heh. Hell, I better get paid overtime and hazard pay for this (getting shot by Gams, the extra Medibay work, more other damned bad luck)...."{/Mumble} Foss didn't hear that last comment. Haha. (/RP) Well, I'll let my character sleep until someone posts to around 16:00 hrs, or a major event happens (whichever comes first). I'll probably explain my guy's past, and where he comes from in the mean time (like in dreams, and flashbacks while sleeping). I'm typing it up, and will have it up around Friday. Sorry for the hectic (and short; in my opinion) intro to my character; all will be revealed. See ya, and I can't wait until Blades' next post! ------------------ Commander Alec Nova (Terran/Mercenary) UCV Dark Outlaw (Modified SpaceStar Class Ship) -Independent Mercenary/Assasin for hire. Caine, being a merc has its advantages, doesn't it? Lol........ I wish we had more indies in the RP board, that would be cool. ------------------ Commander Alec Nova (Terran/Mercenary) UCV Dark Outlaw (Modified SpaceStar Class Ship) "To me, luck is useless in life; especially if you've got a bigger gun than the guy next to you." -
Yeah, I know. The save game thing really sucks when you can't restore and/or resume the game. Well, I started my RP life as one of the crew of the S.S. Vulture. So far, I've made 2 posts. Blades said anyone (including mercs and other indies) can join at any time, but just to keep to the confines of the story. ------------------ Commander Alec Nova (Terran/Mercenary) UCV Dark Outlaw (Modified SpaceStar Class Ship) "To me, luck is useless in life; especially if you've got a bigger gun than the guy next to you."

(RP) 11:40 hrs, 19th May, 3008 Modified LRT-15 Transport S.S. Vulture Outside of Medibay I heard Foss and Jamont talking. Barely anyone had any medical experience, or training. I knew I had the experience they needed (you learn a lot being a hired Mercenary), but I didn't say anything at first. Jamont left the room, and turned to the other side of the hall, and saw someone. I thought nothing of it. He just kept going to the Cargo Bay. I think my conscience was getting the better of me, but I decided to head back into Medibay and help out, but just for a bit. "Sir, Alec Nova reporting for duty. I think you need someone who has medical skills, don't you? Well, I''ve got the skills you need." Foss replied, "Alright. First we need to move all the people with non-life threatening injuries to other rooms; it's too crowded here." "Sure." Archiveian, I have Windows ME too. Alright. I still use System Restore , but you can take it off by using these simple steps: First off, follow this start menu trail: Start Menu->Settings->Control Panel, and click on System. Next, click on the Performance tab Go to File System. Go to the Troubleshooting Tab, and check off Disable System Restore. That should free up a lot of disk space, and to mention freeing up some memory because Win Me watches every change to the Registry and System Files. Also, have you manually changed your Swap File settings? It also helps your Hard Drive usage by making sure the Swap File doesn't change size dynamically, because it can go to over 1 gig on some drives. To change Swap File Size, follow steps 1&2 above, but click on Virtual Memory. Click on Let me specify my own V.M. settings, and then on the minimum and maximum, put the same number down. Put like 4-6 times your physical memory in those boxes (384-576 for your 96mb system), but remember to make the min and max the same. Finally, try Windows Update for some other patches and fixes -- either go to Internet Explorer (if you're not using it), and go to Tools->Windows Update(should be 2nd or 3rd option), or (if you're already running IE), Click Here, or Here. They've got updates on most Windows Drivers if yours aren't current, so thats cool, and also have patches, and bug fixes for most stuff. You only need the ones in Critical Updates (the package has all of those patches), and Device Drivers (get those all, they're updated full versions), and you should get the ones in Recommended, because they have other patches for Direct X, and a Hard Drive cache patch, and the latest version of Microsoft Virtual Machine (you don't need this; its only for Java web sites, you still should, if you use Active Desktop, or surf with IE). (update)You should also go to your manufacturer's web site, and look up your model/make for some patches. I know Packard Bell/NEC does this and so does HP. One more thing to look up is the manufacturer for your major system components (monitor, sound card, and maybe hard drive (you can look up the maker by going to the system properties box, and going to the device manager tab; head down to the bottom for a link if you don't know the site of your company), in addition to the motherboard/chipset, and the graphics)(/update) Also, I discovered the Save Game but no Restore or Load thing while playing too. Hey SC (Derek), what's up here man? It screwed me up while playing; I was at 14:10, just crusing to sell some stuff I got in a container, and then I was goin into the menu, but I accidently clicked Save, and when I clicked cancel, it brought me to the title. (update)Oh yeah, I forgot that NIC's take up memory while you're connected (at least mine slowed my computer when I used to have it connected on cable--we got rid of cable 'cause it cost too much back when I had it in Dec 99). Check for some driver updates there (manufacturer site) as well.(/update) (2nd Update) Yeah, okay. You can find patches for your part at Winfles' Driver Section. Tried the link myself; It so happens that Winfiles was taken by CNet. Umm. You click on the type of part you have, then use the OS Filter, and look at the huge list from there. Hmmm. The original Winfiles was easier to navigate than this. Sorry; best I can come up with.(/2nd Update) Well, I hope something works out. ------------------ Commander Alec Nova (Terran/Mercenary) UCV Dark Outlaw (Modified SpaceStar Class Ship) "To me, luck is useless in life; especially if you've got a bigger gun than the guy next to you." Archiveian, Post your system specs. This might not be a graphics problem, but something else. Do you have any joysticks, multiple moniters, etc. Just give us the processor, ram, any modems or ethernet cards attached, sound cards, blah blah blah; you know. The works. Any PCI or AGP cards, and other options attatched. Also, Windows Version, and disk space would be important too. ------------------ Commander Alec Nova (Terran/Mercenary) UCV Dark Outlaw (Modified SpaceStar Class Ship) "To me, luck is useless in life; especially if you've got a bigger gun than the guy next to you."

Woo hoo! I'm finally going to write my self into the story. I'm a newbie, but I hope you like it all. I'll blend into the actual plot later. Alright, it starts when I'm just a Merc Marine on this ship, just coming back from patrol, on the Vulture, going back to my quarters, when those Gams board the ship and cause chaos. I see the Gams before the alarms go off. [rp] 11:15 hrs, 19th May, 3008 Modified LRT-15 Transport S.S. Vulture Deck 1 Damn COMmies. I was just getting used to this ship, and the crew, and then what happens? We can't leave the ship, contact anyone, or do anything that involves mostly anything outside. I mean, what's wrong with that? I've pretty much never liked Galcom, or the Insurgency for that matter too. I decided to head to my quarters for a break, and some well needed sleep; i haven't slept in over 27 hours. "Crap, I need a better job. On my way up, I was beginning to question joining this ship--but something caught my attention. "What the hell?" I muttered to myself. There were 3 Gammulan Marines down the Corridor. They weren't facing me, so at least they didn't see me. I was fully suited and was ready to attack. "Hmm... 3 vs. 1..." I thought to myself. Of course, they had their equipment too. I tossed a grenade, but it didn't do much to their advanced suits. They saw me, and started shooting. I shot back with my pistol, and I got one in the head, but I was still outnumbered, so I only had one option. I ran as hard as I could to the Command Deck (nearest room), yelling and panicing on my Commlink several times, but all of a sudden I felt a pain on my left arm, and then a weird feeling shot up my spine, as the alarms were just setting off, and I fell on the deck........... 11:38 hrs, 19th May, 3008 Modified LRT-15 Transport S.S. Vulture Medibay I woke up and asked myself, "What the hell happened?" A bit later, I was out cold again. When I awoke, my arm was okay, and so was my back. "Technology isn't as useless as I thought." The Commander Foss or something guy was just getting started about how many people were in Medibay and moving them. I didn't even sit up yet. "S% what a headache." I shook my head, and sat up. "Where the hell am I and what time is it," I asked. Somebody told me I was in Medibay and that it was already 11:40. Damn. Must've been out for a while. I stood up, and headed off to go to my quarters to check on what the hell happened while I was gone, about the Gams. "Oh, yeah. Gimme some more pain killer before I go." He doesn't realize the big ass headache I have. "Sure. ;mumble; merc scum ;/mumble;" He gave me the packs of pain killer. "I heard that!" But by then, I was out the door. Damn COMies; and Insurgents too. I knew I should have taken that fighter pilot job back at Pixan. BCM Demo Episode One release imminent
Cmdr Nova replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Game Demo Discussions
Okay, since this topic won't be valid any longer, CLOSE THIS THREAD. Also, I would like to end this topic off with this question (which will eventually start the episode 2 release thread): So, when can we expect the 2nd Episode Demo? Possibly 10 days +/- 3days (my best guess, since the final game is expected May 7, and we're going up to Demo Episode 6, released around the same time as the game)???? Well, E2 will have the new terrain engine, and will be based on the latest Beta build at the time of release. I forgot the career on it, but that's okay. Hope to see it soon! ------------------ Commander Alec Nova (Terran/Mercenary) UCV Dark Outlaw (SpaceStar Class), Pixan Raider Starstation (Lennen) -Independent Outlaw/Mercenary/Assasin For Hire Will take most jobs from Covert-Ops, and Assasination, to Recon, Trading, and Security Detail. ....except the main title song feels out of place once you are in the game (i think that the main title theme should only be on the main title). quote:That I can almost agree with. But if it's a good piece of music why not include it in the general soundtrack? well, the slow, 70's-80's funky sounding guitar is a bad thing to listen to while in the middle of a fast-paced battle with a starstation. Okay, considering that you can change the track, its okay (but you still have to stop what you are doing, and press the alt-. or , buttons on the keyboard, and then you could lose some time during something important). just an opinion. remember that. I'm not into rpg-ing online, but i'll give it a shot. My fleet DB Registration went through! http://www.bc3000ad.com/fleets/db/profile....form_cmdrid=189 Oh yeah, I almost forgot that i had this list made up: Cool things to do with the demo: 1: Try BCStudio.exe (its in the folder where you install the demo, usually "C:Program Files3000adBattlecruiser Millennium Demo"). You can view the 3d models and rotate them and stuff. You can even map ship textures onto the Personel (people) Models (be sure to not save the files or change them back before using bcm; OR ELSE POSSIBLE ERRORS). 2: Listen to your own MP3s! If you've got some mp3 files you'd rather hear than the regular in-game music, copy them to the soundfxmusic subdirectory of your BCM demo folder, and then you can hear them by changing the in-game song # (alt-, or alt-.). Hey i've been around the boards and looking at all the folders in the bcm demo directrory and have some cool stuff to do. Be sure to add as you like. Here it is: 1: Try BCStudio.exe (its in the folder where you install the demo, usually "C:Program Files3000adBattlecruiser Millennium Demo"). You can view the 3d models adnd rotate them and stuff. You can even map ship textures onto the Personel Models (be sure to not save the files or change them back before using bcm; OR ELSE POSSIBLE ERRORS). 2: Listen to your own MP3s! Hey, E5, I clearly said that Dx8 was needed for the game (check above if you don't beleve me). Well, glad to help, and yes I think this game rocks too. Cool things to do: 1: Try BCStudio.exe (its in the folder where you install the demo, usually "C:Program Files3000adBattlecruiser Millennium Demo"). You can view the 3d models adnd rotate them and stuff. You can even map ship textures onto the Personel Models (be sure to not save the files or change them back before using bcm). 2: Listen to your own MP3s! One more cool thing to do is: If you've got some mp3 files you'd rather hear than the regular ones, copy them to the soundfxmusic folder of your BCM demo folder, and then you can hear them by changing the in-game song # (alt-, or alt-.). But I think you all would probably not, isn't that right? Just kidding, I'm not trying to be sarcastic; the music is pretty good, except the main title song feels out of place once you are in the game (i think that the main title theme should only be on the main title). Cool! lol, some of it is pretty funny (people with ship textures, starstations with jetpack textures). E5, remember, DirectX 8 is required for the game. You can choose what direct x 8 version you need here: Direct X EndUser Downloads #1: Tell him to try closing everything else off before starting the install. Close everything other than windows, and press Control-Alt-Delete and end every task except for explorer and systray. Also, since he is running a server, tell him to either exit the program (and take down the network) or if it's important, MAKE SURE TO NOT CLOSE IT. #2: The restart screen is required, because bcm needs to install a newer version of windows installer on most computers. After pressing that restart button on the win install updater, the computer should restart and continue with what is a traditional install, after booting up to windows. I run ICS on win me, and its okay. I'm not sure about the french windows version, but everything else should be working. Maybe tell him to go to Microsoft Windows Update and downloading all the required and important updates (there are some updated hard drive windows drivers there and direct x updates) Check with him, and post some update if it worked or not. Yeah, I love my sig too. Outlaw: Trust me. In BCM, we'll make everyone see that you don't have to be in a fleet to be successful. Watch. Lots of people will be joining Mercenaries, Assasins, and other castes instead of fleets. I also absolutely know that official permanant alliances and other partnerships will occur with indies like us. That is a must. We have to stick together, or fall, once a fleet puts us on their list (somehow I get the feeling I'll be a GalCom target soon). My first personal goal is to get enough cash, and weapons, so I can capture a station for Mercs, Raiders, Assasins, and whoever can dock at my station (its in the fleet faq, i just can't remember exactly who can dock where). BCM ships May 7 at EB Games! Get it, and go multiplayer! Remember my sig, I'll work for anyone, anywhere, if there's enough cash invloved. Hey! Has anyone tried BCStudio? It's cool. Yeah, I found it out when I was looking around the folder for the game, and I saw the exe, and thought "I wonder what that does?" and opened it. You can view all the 3d models, rotate them, and see all the cool ships and things (black holes, and stuff), not in the demo! It's in "C:Program Files3000ADBattlecruiser Millennium Demobcstudio.exe" or the folder where you installed the game. if anyone can clarify the radar issue, maybe someone on the 3000ad team, or derek? press Z to increase radar zoom press shift-Z to decrease radar zoom Ctrl-Z to set maximum radar zoom (smallest visibility, you can only see things that are crashing into you; its that close) the gameplay is much better than lots of other games i've played, like allegience, and slightly similar games like homeworld. it's so much simpler to use, but it gives a great challenge AI wise. multiplayer is coming peeps...... watch out for me........ so i'm not late. not until 6:45 central. i'll see you all around 3 o'clock central (4 east) ------------------ Commander Alec Nova (Terran/Mercenary) UCV Dark Outlaw (Garid Class), Pixan Raider Starstation (Lennen) -Independent Outlaw/Mercenary/Assasin For Hire Will take most jobs from Covert-Ops, and Assasination, to Recon, Trading, and Security Detail. Scrivener, In BattleCruiser 3000, the space to planet-fall transitions were cinematic sequences of your ship (fighter, shuttle, or BC) flying into the planet. It would activate at around 150 thousand km from the planet/moon depending on the size. It only showed cinematics for the craft you were flying. Also, the max speed of your craft is slightly reduced in planet/fall mode (just your normal drag situation). I can't wait until I see BCM's new terrain engine and planet-falling with the new looking craft! ------------------ Commander Alec Nova (Terran/Mercenary) UCV Dark Outlaw (Garid Class), Pixan Raider Starstation (Lennen) -Independent Outlaw/Mercenary/Assasin For Hire Will take most jobs from Covert-Ops, and Assasination, to Recon, Trading, and Security Detail.
