Well, my holidays have begun, which means that I am finally going to finish (read: remake from scratch for the third time) my game review site. This will be my first website developed with 0% WYSIWYG (to hell with Dreamweaver! ). This thread is for user feedback on the various test pages I'll be developing, which will determine how the entire site will look in the end (if I ever get to the end ). The first of these is a test page for an early version of the main CSS I'm writing for the site. I'm looking for feedback on the colour scheme, type face (paragraphs only), and whether your web browser is configured to override the document's font and colour settings. EDIT: Initial testing is complete. [ 01-11-2002: Message edited by: Menchise ]

Battlecruiser Millennium needs a delete confirmation.

quote:They're talking about a delete prompt in the restore/new game screen. This will be in the final 1.0.02 release. It goes from the bottom of the wishlist pile to appearing in the next patch? Hehe. I'm guessing that the SC got bored for a few hours -
Unless the SC has made the stations twice as fragile as they were in the E2 demo (and why would he do that?), the IOD is low enough. When the integrity gets very low, fire one shot at a time if you have to. You could even let the station's shields go up a bit to reduce the hull damage. [ 11-30-2001: Message edited by: Menchise ]

quote:Hey! Command and conquer (however unrealistic) was one of the better games I've ever played I wasn't bashing Command and Conquer (I like it too ). quote:this game won't last a few seconds once BCO gets out. unless PC Gamer chooses to let Andy Mahood give it another 77%........ I think it would be impossible to deduct marks from an MMOG for lack of multiplayer.

quote:Been there. Done that. Next! Hehe. Westwood's trademark ability to 'play it safe' is astonishing. First, they spend five years developing almost nothing but sequels (and prequels) to Command and Conquer and Dune 2, now they're developing an MMOG that would make Freelancer Online look sophisticated.

*Nick sits in front of a typewriter, typing the same sentence over and over again* Waiting for BCM makes Nick an irritable guy. Waiting for BCM makes Nick an irritable guy. Signs you've been playing BCM too much...
Menchise replied to Badgerius's topic in General Discussions
Signs that you're playing WAY too much BCM: You shut off the power to launch control by removing the spark plug from your car. Your cell phone is calling out "Urgent message received" as it rings. You assign the pot plants to search duty. You watch a rerun of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and you're surprised to discover that the Terrans are getting along with the Credians. When your ship's reactor takes heavy damage, you call the electricity company and demand more power. You start compiling a table of your family members' locations in the house and their fatigue factors. [ 11-28-2001: Message edited by: Menchise ] -

You call that shuttle thing a serious exploit? OK, here's another exploit for you. Commander sees enemy supercarrier being towed at high speed by shuttle. The shuttle's shields are down (they're automatically lowered when the tractor beam is deployed). Commander launches interceptor at the shuttle. Interceptor destroys shuttle. End of exploit.

Are you kidding? His most famous line is when he has to tell someone who he is! Bond isn't an assassin, either.

quote:Every race and caste is in the game and has been in since the beginning. I need to write my posts more carefully. I was referring to the inclusion of non-aggressive castes as player careers in BCM. I'm assuming that those careers were implemented in anticipation of multiplayer. quote:The problem is with PC Explorers and the rest of the harmless castes (exluding the Trader). I mean why not give the PC the ability to do what a NPC can do? NPC Explorers cannot colonize planets. Take another look at the appendix entry. quote:It would just be nice if Explorer vessels (controlled by the player) realy did come with colonize and worker castes so that we could drop them off on a deserted planet/moon for them to build up a new empire. No, it wouldn't be nice. What happens after you drop them off? You're on your own again. What happens next? Do you dock at a station, re-launch and pray that some other colonists magically appear off your starboard bow? [ 11-27-2001: Message edited by: Menchise ]

You didn't sound arrogant to me, but you're welcome.

Since nobody has answered my question and other countdowns are starting to pop up (albeit, bogus countdowns ), the answer is: 37 days (Countdown to the end of the week).

Vogelap, when you link pictures in your posts, please don't use BMPs. Convert the image to GIF or JPEG format first.

In my opinion, green just isn't a police colour.

It seems like a worthy goal for a fleet of assassins with a death wish.

I can't speak for the developers (since I am not one), but I think I can clear a few things up. First, the appendix entry that Zuul refers to describes NPC Explorers, not player Explorers. The castes appendix also describes the state of relations between each caste (eg whether mercenaries are hostile to raiders etc). Secondly (correct me if I'm wrong), most of the non-aggressive castes, including Explorers and Diplomats, were included in anticipation of multiplayer.

Well, the Insurgent starbase is one step closer to readiness. I've started developing the second level of the main building. The turrets are manned (or should I say, shanubia-ed ) and the Command section is 90% complete. Gallion, I need a picture of you for the gallery of high ranking Insurgents in the Command section.
