Fleet Recruitment Reorganization Proposal
peterkist replied to aramike's topic in General Multiplayer Fleet Discussions
quote:Originally posted by aramike: Dang it, forget the pooling idea. That wasn't extremely thought-out on my part. The recruitment idea is primarily what I'm looking for discussion. Oh yeah, and it's only a proposal looking for points of view. At intercorp we have a HR division (for training). All new recruits are placed there, trained so that they get the hang of the different divisions (like trading, mercenary, etc). Only after completing the training they are assigned to a division. They get to choose this division themselves, but have some hands-on experience upon their choice can be based. Could be the same with the fleets. Get new recruits in a training pool, let them see the different aspects of the different fleets and then let them make a choice (at least these frantic recruitment theads are over then ) note that this would _NOT_ affect the already assigned fleet members. I might be wrong, but as far as I understand this is what aramike has in mind (err, you did, now didn't you.... ) -

quote:Originally posted by DeSylva: Okay. We need a new server. Needs to be free. Preferably not too many pop-ups. And accessible to both upload files by FTP and by the web. Crosswinds sucks chunks and I can;t even log in from work anymore. Any suggestions? I use stormpages for the intercorp site. No pop-ups _but_ you get a banner in every html file (that's why I do not use frames). Anyway, its 50Mb and it's free. EDIT: I use the web interface to upload, but I think ftp is possible too [ 10-01-2001: Message edited by: Riga ]

Been away for a few day's, but it was my girlfriends birthday, so I was not allowed much online time Anyway, Rico I managed to update the quickstart page with most of your comments but have not find time to explain the last part (Genesis -> GalCom) yet. Will do so in a few days.

Indeed I'm waiting for that as well before I _dare_ to send the Commodity charter . Ah, about icq: this is why! Otherwise we'd drive everybody crazy with our conversations

I assume that you have seen Emmett.hendrik's post on the RP thread, that would be a good starting point and then maybe later a flashback RP on the Organisation itself. What do you think? Jeffery, I seen Emmett's post and I already sent him an email, but it bounced. I think its a good idea to start here (that's why I mailed him ;p ) I think he wants to start tomorrow, so I would be able to jump in on sunday evening. Furthermore, I've resent the intercorp charter to tacops.

I salvaged pages 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6. I've send them to epsilon, so he can add page 7 to it. Anyone has page 3?

I was posting in the the Countdown to gold thread but I got a white screen with one of those typical webserver error messages (cannot remember which one, could be 'you don't have access...). The result was a thread called 'peterkist', with a post named "11:00" and a content of "11:01 AM or something similar. Second I posted in the 'peterkist' thread, requesting he thread to be deleted. Nothing happened. Third I tried again, and the text of the second post was visible. Since my request (2nd) was visible I left it at that, and headed home without checking the countdown to gold thread. Just logged in again from home and saw in the postings that it was deleted. Dunno if it was my post that caused it, though (but seems likely) Hope this helps. BTW: I also saw this 'reg' thing that was mentioned in the previous post.

Rico, first of all, thanks for taking the time. Now: quote: - Fuel is the most important thing on your shopping list. But that's just a personal consideration. You've got a point there quote: - ISS station/Saturn does have a specialty: See the price level of AD versus HT items? AD being 110% of STDP while HT being 130%; ISS AD level is at 110%: +20%(inflation)-10%(specialty) Maybe it doesn't show, but it does have one. I started bc3k and headed over to ISS, and hit the INFO button in Tradcom. It displayed '-' so I assumed that it had no speciality. But you're right, must be AD. I'll change the ISS text accordingly. quote: - I believe one could stuff 25% extra money with deflector arrays into ones hold than Bugnors. Not 22.5/20 =112.5% My mistake. I took STDP for bugnors, but GalCom price for deflector arrays. Will change it. quote: - From ISS/Saturn, don't go to GalcomHQ with AD items, you'll loose money; buying for 110% while you sell for 90%. Take AD to Genesis instead. Buying at 110% and selling at 120%. Then close the trip by taking HT to GalcomHQ. Mr Riker, make it so... quote: Colors and layout look nice. heh, until I showed it to my girlfriend, who uses netscape 4.7 and had stylesheets disabled Thanks again.

My condolances to you and your family. See you in a couple of days.

Quickly added the economics page to the intercorp website. It contains a short description of the basics of bc3k economics (how prices are calculated) economics page

Hi Jeffery, The problems with my modem only started a few days ago. Today it seems back to the normal level. About Ceasar; was just kidding Let's see what our newest members want first, but recruitment would be a nice job. They might also help out in the HR division. As far as the icq is concerned; it's easier to discuss things using icq, more interactive than mail or the forum. Don't let certain posts in another forum keep you out of your sleep Tac: You're not forgotten, its just that I'm a bit busy at the moment. You'll probably hear from me in about a week.

Rico, just to let you know that I've updated these trading pages, you might want to have a look at it. Comments are apreciated quick start EDIT: Plainly forgot about Nova (sorry, sorry, sorry). Please have a look at it. No screenshots or anything yet, but you get the idea of what I ment. [ 09-24-2001: Message edited by: Riga ]

Different ISP's. office has direct T1 to the university backbone, at home I've got a modem connection. quote: Anyway what do you think about the new rank names I have proposed? Hail Ceasar! They have a nice sound to it. Just that I think the former 'Admiral' rank should be called ... Ceasar quote: Well as you can see from the posts Jigoku and Outlaw are willing to join up, hooray Here's to hoping that they can help us make this Corporation a reality. I think it is great. Dunno about Malleus, but if he joins as well, then there are 5 of us, not bad for a month's work... I hope that they want to contribute in structuring the corporation, but if they just want to be members than that's ok with me as well. BTW: You're on icq?

quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Jeffery Eu: Yes, I got your email three times. Hey, in fact I wasn't planning to send anything to tacops until the game is delivered to me as I'm understandably eagerly awaiting for BCM. Can't wait to get my grubby hands on it LOL, I'll have a look at our mailserver first thing tomorrow Anyway, sorry for being so unresponsive, but I have the greatest difficulties reaching the 3000ad forum from home. Often I get timeouts (about 8 out of 10 pages). Yesterday I tried to respond about 5 times, but only 2 actually were send to the forum, the others timed out. However, from the office the problem does not exist.

quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Jeffery Eu: okay, now that someone is happy with the ranks of Guns For Hire Inc., I would appreciate any other comments on the Charter before I put it up on the Intercorp Website and submitting it to Tacops. Just wait a bit before you send it to tacops, at least until bcm goes gold. I've had the intercorp charter returned with a note to resend it after it goes gold. Yours probably would end up with the same note My comments (if any) are to follow later. BTW: did you receive my email?

quote:Originally posted by Outlaw: Ok now that I am the ONE(pun intended), what next for me? What rank do I attain? Once approved, will we get started in BCM mutliplayer? Sorry lotta questions, but very exited that this corporation is soon becoming a reality. I think that Jeffery is to decide what your rank will be. As for multiplayer: Yes, as soon as it is possible we would like to get the show on the road. However, a lot of ground still has to be covered (economics, our role in the universe, how about the fleets?, etc, etc). Well, unless the SC has a surprice in store (and he has, just dunno what yet) we have to wait for the multiplayer patch.

heh, I use an HTML editor, I just apply the stylesheets by hand. Read the VCF thread, packages mentioned include Homesite, FrontPage 2002 and Notepad (not recommended ).
