[rp] Commander Urza Personal Log GCV Weatherlight HULL: 100% SHIELD: 0% STATUS: Red My main computer crashed yesterday. Me and my engineer are working feverishly to get it back online. Fortunately, this happened during a planetfall operation on Mars. Hopefully noone will notice us just sitting here, completely vulnerable to attack. Mars is a relatively safe place, so that really isn't much of a concern. The real problem is that it took Logistix and Tactical with it, making the repairs that much more difficult. Also, it crashed the power allocation, and the only thing with power currently, is life support, (albeit only minimally). Some my crew are already reporting illnesses, making these repairs doubly important. Quite tragic seeing an otherwise fine, new ship, crippled like this. As for what caused it, we were boarded by hostiles a few hours before the incident, so we suspect he may have planted a virus. Those gammulans may be ugly, slimy, and stinky, but they sure know how to mess up a computer. [/rp]

Sorry, I've been AWOL for a while. Happy Holidays and all that. My computer isn't working and I'm posting this on my dad's machine. Furthermore, I'll be in Miami this coming week. My flight leaves at 7 AM tommorow morning. Best of all, this vacation is free! Yes, totally and completely without cost. Why, you ask? For those who don't already know, Maryland is going to the Orange Bowl. And the band (of which I'm a member) is going. In fact, the athletic department turned it into a lovely vaction package. What a better place to bring in the new year than one of America's warmest cities. Really, I keep getting wowed at all this free stuff marching bands get. Being in the Ravens Band is like having a free season ticket every year, not to mention marching on the field at PSInet in front of over 68,000 people! (half of which are probably in the bathroom, getting snacks, etc.) And working at the theatre means I get to see all the movies for free! Since it has 24 screens, all the American movies ever made end up going there at some point. (at least the ones worth seeing) The only downside is I have to work strange hours, like 12-8 on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (time and a half, btw), or 5pm-2am on Fridays. But I digress. All right, I saw it. Without a doubt one of the best movies I've ever seen. In fact, I'll likely be seeing it again (for free!) in our state-of-the-art theatre. Especially so I can see the five minutes I missed when my bladder just said "Ahhhh, I can't stands no more!" Bag End was just perfect. I read the book, and it was just like I had visualized when I read it (it was a few months ago in anticipation of the movie). Also, all the creatures were perfect, with good acting and good casting. The hobbits looked just right, the elves looked like elves, and the dwarves, well, looked like dwarves. The Orcs, the troll, that fire creature (can't remember what it's called) all looked like they meant business. All in all, it ranks up there in my list of Top 10 movies of all time with Die Hard, Star Trek II, Goldfinger, and Ben Hur.

I'll be seeing it tonight... for free! God, I love working at the theatre.

That makes me wonder, I feel spoiled, being in the Eastern US time, syncronized with the official board times. The weekend might be iffy, as I work in a movie theater, especially with LotR.

Not bad either, I'd say. You scored a 90 on the technical, which you definately deserved. As for the graphics, I agree. They don't wow me like some other games, but they're decent. All in all, good review.

So many people have said so many things above, and I don't think I can say anything that hasn't been said. I'm all for starting an unofficial gathering place, but I'm going to miss being in touch with the game's designer. Most likely, this will be one of my last posts on this board.
