  1. Yes, I sucessfuly captured another station. Unfortunately, the game CTDs minutes afterward. I already posted about this in general issues and am awaiting the results of SC's analysis. Until then, I can't play that career anymore.
  2. I just captured a hostile station, launced then saved. Thereafter, the game CTD within a minute. This is the first time I've experienced a CTD with any regularity. No matter what I do during the minute, the game always crashes. I can send you the save in question if you wish.
  3. Did you register the game? If not, you can't get tech support. If you did, just post on the approprite board.
  4. In that case, I'll just consider myself lucky that none of the intruders damaged anything. I guess my 40 marines were too much for them. Once I had to personally fend off an intruder who found his way to the bridge. I had to do some serious medibay time for that one. quote: might finally add that option to XP1. This way, you can send marines to search a particular deck. It requires a major code change and thats why I never even considered tackling it. Ack! This would be a wonderful feature, and definately one I'd like to see. You have my support! [ 11-30-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  5. *bump* Come on, newbies report here so Nova can straighten you out!
  6. I already posted about this somewhere. Oh, well, I already voted. I, too, was surprised to see BCM on the list of nominees.
  7. quote: A smarter crew is better able to deal with intruders. You forgot to mention that as the game progresses, the intruders get smarter, too. See this thread. SAS diode- that reminds me, if you're at condition red or evacuate, shouldn't that little light on the bridgeviewer be red, like the CAS? As it stands, it just blinks dull green (as opposed to not blinking). It does blink yellow, however. [ 11-30-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  8. And will we be seeing those 3D dice along with them?
  9. I have a Firestorm, and my IOD is pretty darn powerful. But Melanie may be right. They may be shooting their own station, as that would explain why I don't even get the standard fare EP for destroying it. quote: You could even let the station's shields go up a bit to reduce the hull damage. Hmm, I haven't thought of that. Unfortuately, by the time it's that low, the shields are probably wrecked.
  10. Hmmm, I might have to hop in my FC and run a few... tests on my CC.
  11. OK, I'll try to be a little more clear this time. If you are in a Commander career, jumping out the airlock with alt-E will reset your fuel mineral levels to the default loadout. In my case, that's 1000 radine, 100 plutonium, and 75 iridium. This is all regardless of what they were before. Theoreticly, if your CC was out of radine, you could hit alt-E and get refueled. If you want to see what I mean, start a new game as a commander (rase/caste/ship don't matter). Sell all your fuel (of all types). Launch, press alt-E, then immediately turn around and get back in your CC. Your fuel levels will be back to where they started. EDIT: sig test [ 11-30-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  12. Uh, what was the question?
  13. The low intensity fire doesn't work. It isn't low enough!
  14. I've found this to be extremely difficult. But not because of the station; I could utterly annihilate almost any station with little effort. The trick is getting it to emit an SOS. This entails getting it very low, then shooting it one shot at a time. Here's the problem: My ship's just too darned powerful. That last 10% IOD shot blows the thing to smithereens. I tried letting the PTA do it, but it's difficult to get one shot at a time with that thing. I even resorted cutting power to all turret arrays except for the primary one. Even then, it was too much. Complicating the problem is I noticed that there's a delay between the shot being fired, and the damage actually being registered on my bridgeviewer. Once it gets to a critical level, I switch off the weapons, but then the last ones hit their mark, blowing it up. Any help or general information would be appreciated.
  15. I heard intruders also damage systems, but I've only had this happen once. The rest of the time, the made a beeline for the flight deck, and stole whatever they could find. Has anyone else had intruders actually damage the ship?
  16. I just noticed something. If you exit your CC in FP mode, then re-enter it, your fuel levels (radine, plutonium, iridium) will be reset to the default loadout. The only thing I'm not sure about is wether it happens on leaving the ship or re-entering it. EDIT: This is just jumping out of the airlock with ALT-E. I don't think it happens when using the transporer, for example. [ 11-29-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  17. It still has to be analyzed. And that requires AI.
  18. Did you have any intruders? Perhaps it was stolen. Or maybe they didn't quite steal it, check your shuttles. How long did it take to get the necessary AI? [ 11-29-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  19. If you say so, but my experience was that that thing got my ship smashed into the side of a mountain more often then it landed (and even then, with a few bumps). I'm not trying to mislead him, just sharing my personal experiences. But everyone has their prefrences, he should do it the way he wants to.
  20. I know how you feel. I'm into calculator programming, and some bugs eluded me for so long, yet when I found the solution, it was very simple. I just had to think of it a certain way.
  21. That auto-land system doesn't work. I just activate the VTOL, hold tab, and when I'm a few feet off the ground (VTOL won't let you touch down) turn the VTOL back off. You should gently fall to the ground. Oh, and make sure your throttle is at zero.
  22. Heh, I wonder what an Insurgent's dossier on me would look like "Armed and extremely dangerous. Avoid at all costs!" Oh, and is that where all those new screenshots are going to go? [ 11-29-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  23. OK, sorry if my example was a little too general.
  24. My examples were when I had maxed out my armor upgrades.
  25. So, if my total hull is 18000, it would take about 1800 damage concentrated in one spot to score any significant internal damage. That's as much hull as some crusiers! On another note, what's the difference between armor and hull? I've never seen the two meters on the bridgeviewer not be the same.
