  1. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: heh. Anyway, if you recall, I did say that I won't release this patch until that persistent damageFX issue was fixed. Well, its fixed now. So, this patch is going to be cooked for a few more days, then it goes final on Friday. btw, I can assume that your problems have magically disappeared, now that you've stopped using invalid saved games? Yup. Works as sweet as a nut. In fact, it hasn't crahed yet since RC5. A patch a day keeps the bugs away!
  2. Jeez, by the time we have an official 1.0.02 patch out, we'll be up to RC 54!
  3. Oh, okay. I've been doing the same thing on my end. EDIT: Wow, that was a fast download! 20 secs at 200K/sec. I'm just used to slow servers that only have so much available bandwith. ANOTHER EDIT: I need a new keyboard. The S key is getting a little flaky. [ 12-05-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  4. quote:get the PAD as soon as you can It won't be useful until you have enough AI to analyze it.
  5. Raising skeptisism shields... EDIT: Where do you keep putting these patches? I can never seem to find them. [ 12-04-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  6. quote: I believe it's called "Ludicrous Stop" We can't stop! It's too dangerous! We have to slow down first!
  7. you come home from work satisfied that your AI went up a few points... you ask your grocer where you can find the nutripacks... you look in your medicine cabinet for medipacks, cant find any, and ask your wife why she didn't tell you...
  8. Is everyone in the GalCom fleets Terran? There are other GalCom races, you know...
  9. I'll conclude this investigation with a summary of my findings. For officers and pilots, AI starts between 15 and 25. For other crewmen, it's something like 5 to 20 (not certain). AI will increase at a rate of 1 point per 2 hours of work(not necessarily "on station"; as a general rule, if their FF is going up without getting hurt, he is working), give or take 30 minutes. If a crewman dies, and you buy a replacement, he'll start at the standard crewman rate (5-20). If an officer or pilot dies and they are cloned, their AI will be reset to what it was at the beginning of the game (15-25). Therefore, if an officer had a starting AI of 20, he could never have an AI below that. Pilots' DF and BM skills supposedly increase with CMs and CKs, though I have never noticed any change. If any of that is inaccurate, tell me, and I'll change it.
  10. BCM VCF: quote: So, don't hate me. Hate you? After all you've done, how could I hate you? It doesn't really matter to me, as I've restarted my campagn at least five times already. I'm going to reinstall the game, apply the new patch, and start fresh. Hopefully, this will clear up some instability issues.
  11. I never backed up the saves. I don't think the patch deleted anything. I've long since abandoned those saves. And sorry if I've become annoying. I certaintly don't want to become a thorn in the side of this community. Oh, and where did you put that new beta patch? I can't find it. [ 12-03-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  12. [rp] quote: and might I say not the safest place for a lone Valkerie squadron." You got that right! I'm in Alpha Centauri, and if you show up here, I'll take pleasure in blowing you out of the stars. And any Gammulans that tag along. [/rp]
  13. OK, sorry, I'll look into the setup on my end.
  14. No, this was a fresh, brand-new game. Hadn't been running for a full hour yet.
  15. Well said, SC, way to diffuse the bomb!
  16. Didn't think I'd be back here so soon. I am chasing a Stormcarrier going after a starstation. In this case, the station is going to rip the carrier to shreds. But when it's about to blow up... wham! CTD. It happens every time with this save, exactly when the carrier should explode, and I am too far away to do anything to alter these events. This campaign was exclusively on the latest beta patch (only played tonight), FYI. I'll send you the save if you wish. This is by far the best tech support I've ever seen (believe me, I've see many). Keep up the good work.
  17. quote: He's back on the forums finally. He is?! Well, today has been one surprise after another. As for you, PzY, unless you have proof of such allegations, I suggest you keep this to yourself. And saying something questionable on your very first post on this board doesn't bode well. I suggest that you delete that post before SC comes in. Trust me, you do not want to see him mad. I'm not trying to be mean, it's just that posting about something like this without proof will be frowned upon, and more then likely get you banned. Now I'll get out of this ticking time-bomb of a thread before it blows up.
  18. *bump* Out of curiosity, is that designation going to appear in BCM? [rp] I relished destroying that Stormcarrier that wandered into Pluto! [/rp]
  19. No, I didn't cheat, and yes, it's 1.0.01 final. I didn't start that game until I already had that patch. I have some other ones of the same game, if you want them. If I have to start over, so be it. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it. I'm just concerned there may be some issues with the station capture routine. I appreciate your help. Oh, and you caught that alt-E mineral bug. Good show, SC! [ 11-30-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]

    THE GAME!

Whoa, this thead turned into a bombshell in a hurry! Urza puts his pips in his pocket and dives behind a bulkhead I didn't want to start any unrest. Sorry if I seemed a little assuming. DeSylva and Keenan, you both have my sympathy.
  21. I thought that old saves are still valid. Whenever I try to load a save from 1.0.01, I get an error message or a CTD. However, saves from the new beta version still work. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Something that I have learned over the years - no matter what the SC may say - new patch = new game. I always delete all saved games after applying a patch - even if they are not deleted after I apply the patch(es). Why? Force of habit from v1.x days This is a small price to pay IMO. 23. No, this happened the second time. The first time, it worked perfectly. I already posted about this in the tech support thread, and sent you the save in question, for your analysis. The game was played exclusively under 1.0.01. I recently upgraded to the beta, but now it won't load at all. (as opposed to loading, then crashing)
  24. I can see them fine.

    THE GAME!

quote: _I_ don;t have the game You don't have the game?! Come on, even I was able to scrounge up $50 from god knows where! In fact, I thought ahead and set aside $50 a few months ago. No, don't put your CD-key on your sig. Put a hyperlink like the one I have. Just change the ID number at the end of the URL to your own. Hey, this is my 400th post! W00t!!
