A few Questions to you lot if I may........
Urza replied to JAY's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
Or you could get a better computer and play it on a higher resolution. Also, as I mentioned above, isn't the SAS supposed to blink red with your condition, like the CAS? -
Actually, the funny breed of newbie was around for a while. (I remember when I was a newbie ) But now, we're getting this new form of "super-n00b" that could give us a run for our money, come multiplayer.

*bump* Digging out of the basement are we?

I agree. Newbies should be treated with respect. After all, our goal is to increase the number of BC fans. How are we going to do that if people don't give them the respect they deserve? Even though some things may be percieved as rude or harsh, it's either a) joking or enforcing the rules. Good idea for a newbie topic. Would make for a good place to do searches. Also, would it be possible to move newbie Q & A threads into the new topic, so as to aid searching? FYI, SC, you have a { instead of a [ in the UBB code of your last post. Also, I got the following error when I tried to post this message. It said that I should report it to the administrator. quote: Tried to open zero sized thread 000983 in forum 2 at /usr/www/users/galcom/cgibin/ubb_lib_files.cgi line 762. EDIT: I think this happened I tried to post after the thread had been moved (it was moved after I had entered the thread), but I wanted to make sure. [ 12-10-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]

What does that stand for? Something on the front line? [ 12-10-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]

I agree. My last few D&D sessions still had those six kinds of dice, (challege: who knows all six of them?) but with a laptop (and some $20 software) there to aid the more complex functions. Unfortunately, me and my friends have become too busy for much of that anymore, so lately, my computer usage as went up significantly. In fact, the only live games I play these days is strategy night at Wizards of the Coast. Those once-a-week games of Risk, some fancy Risk variation, or a few rounds of Starfleet Battles sure were fun. I say were because I'm not allowed to have a car on campus, so I lack the mobility required to go every week, even though Arundel Mills (mall) is only 20 or so miles away. But I digress. The future is in online games, but then again, the occasional tabletop game where you're actually in the same room with the other players can be refreshing.

I'm going, if I can scrounge up the money. quote: .......Dare I mention 'Dungeons and Dragons'?.... I'm a D&D freak, so I went to see it on opening day, even though I had that sinking feeling I was gonna suck. I hate it when I'm right. In fact, the whole deal with Snails (I think that's his name) getting killed was bogus, because you can just stroll into the local temple with the corpse (which was intact, btw) and 1000 gp and get him resurrected. The only real excuse I could think of was that they didn't have the thousand gold, but then they could just take the corpse with them and start saving, and stop moping as though he's gone forever. The only real fun I had with it was identifying the spells that were being cast. (Dimention Door was used a lot) I know, call me a nerd. [ 12-10-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]

Well, that was decisive.

I've been quite sucessful on Earth, actually. One full mining operation yields enough to max out your upgrades at the very least, and probably with some to spare.

quote: Nah, they weren't that bad. If they were, I'd have killed myself there and then. I don't know, it got something like a 13% at PC Gamer. At any rate, whoever made that game should be ashamed of themselves, as they took a sure seller and turned it into a bug ridden piece of s*it.

Wow, they actually invented a new grade just for that. Reminds me of the old Battlecrusier 1.0 reviews.
-
Hmmm, makes me wish I was an artist.
-
Not a bad idea. I'm a busy man in RL (I'm taking 16 credits, not to mention that band thing), but I'll come to as many as I can.

I saw the new ISS roster. Very nice! And yes, it looks like the Inurgency is looking for fresh blood as badly as we were back in the day. But the Gammulan fleet...
-
They're right. With SC behind it all, it will get better!
-
OK, I'll take your word on it, and move on.

Ready for Duty! Please Read...
Urza replied to Scipio's topic in General Multiplayer Fleet Discussions
Hold the phone, if you really want a super carrier (like mine ), join the ISS. We have more big ships than any other fleet, because of our defensive nature. -
I don't mean to sound rude or anything here (please don't eat me ), but I've been doing all sorts of maneuvering so as to expose different parts of the ship, but it is still completely gutted at 80%. Really, the logistix computer was one of THREE systems above 15%, not including hull/armor (there's at least 20 or 30 total). Even if they blew a hole in my armor, how did they succeed in knocking out virtually EVERY system on the ship?! I've never seen any other ship that, when damaged, was at 5 int (mean of all interior systems). Starstations, for example. I tried even turning off my PTA turrets and focused my IOD on one spot on that station. It's hull was about 20% before it's internal hit 80%. I don't mean to offend anyone, but no one has mentioned that NPC ships lose most of their armor before taking significant internals. Sorry if I seem abrasive here, but these observations don't agree with the way SC says it should work. It's your game, make it the way you wish. Just my $0.02. EDIT: I really need that new keyboard. The S key is still unresponive. [ 12-06-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]

Here's a nickel. Buy yourself some capital letters. Anyway, if someone cloaks near me, I just cloak too.
-
I had already seen some of those.
-
I program too, so I know the hassles of changeing something the game is built around, but still, it would be a nice feature.

I have my own tale to relate, but prepare yourselves, for it is even more bleak than the last one. I was in my Firestorm, minding my own business in the Earth region. I had just launched from GalCom HQ after selling minerals from a mining expedition on Earth. It was very profitable, and I had enough money max out my upgrades at once! My entire crew was very tired, and everyone except the CE and his systems engineers were off duty. My reactor, shields, hull, and engines were at 50% as I had just started upgrading all of them at once, assigning 5 engineers to each. At that point, my radar beeped, and the CAS started blinking red: a Credian Stormcarrier had entered the region! I saw it was targeting GalCom HQ, and since I was near it, I engaged my thrusters to full (at that point I was only going 425 m/s). I then ordered my other officers to their stations (much to their discust). The stormcarrier arrived at the station well before I did, due to my under-prepared engines. It proceeded to attack the station. The station destroyed it well before I got there, but not before it launced several fighters, who also attacked the station. I arrived and proceeded to attack the fighters with my PTA, even though my TO was still hitting the snooze on her commlink, and my turrets were underpowered due to the reactor being at 60%. Then, to my surprise, I noticed that GalCom HQ's shields were down and it was taking hull damage. I quickly ordered my pilots to their fighters, but it was too late. I heard "target destroyed", and a huge explosion filled my bridgeviewer. GalCom HQ has just exploded! At this point, my officers were finally getting back to their stations and my systems were starting to come back to normal. The Credian fighters were eliminated with ease, but their raid was sucessful. I wonder if they had actually timed their attack to coinside with my mass upgrade? On another note, how long does it take to rebuild a station? [ 12-05-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
