Wow, isn't technology great? Actually, we're the ones who should already know that!

Is there supposed to be sound? I'm not getting any. But isn't it that Camelot song from the Holy Grail? "Let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place."

I don't know, but I guess it has to do with the physical features of Earth, and its geography. It's different in 3000 than it is today, due to the plates shifting, and different city locations.

This is very exciting news! (apart form the fact that I was technically one day late on my guess) Oh, and great speech, SC!

I had a similar problem once. Since the temperature is low, have you tried going to the BIOS and increasing your voltage? Lack of power can cause widespread instability.

I would have waited for a clean shutdown, but time was a little scarse.

Those of you near Washington D.C. may have already heard this, but here's my story. (I was in Elkton at College Park) World turns white, preparing for a flashback I was at my computer after getting back from class, and it was about 5:10 pm. I went online to check up on this forum when a message flashed up on the screen stating that there was a tornado warning from 5 to 6 pm. Wondering what the weather was doing, I booted up a weather watcher program and went to look out my window. As I did, I saw a car fly by! This was quite astounding, since I was on the 8th floor (the top). I stared in awe at the twister about 5 feet from my window, when the pressure caused all the doors on my floor to slam shut at the same time. A second later, the fire alarm went off. Then I clicked. I franticly shut off the computer (which was still loading up that weather program), ran out the door (forgetting to lock it), and down the steps. I stepped outside (the tornado was over my now) and surveyed the damage. The car I saw was in the parking lot, upside down on another car. Most of the car windows were broken, but the building looked to be intact. I was then told to go inside, that another one was coming. Down to the basement, I went. When I got there I immediately started sweating, as all the people in the residence hall (about 1000) were in the same crowded basement. I was lucky enough to have shoes on (I just got back from class), as two of my friends (they accompanied me for the rest of the day) and many other people were barefoot. After sitting there for an hour, while being deafened by the fire alarm, the alarm went off, but took all the lights with it. It was pitch black and I was in a crowded room, with 1000 other people in the dark. Some started getting claustrophobic, and were screaming. I was getting a little squeamish. Then someone who was prepared got a flashlight working, and took on the roll of lighthouse. After being down in that basement for another hour, we were all moved to the student union, where I found someone who had a deck of cards, and the four of us played a few games of Spades. Those lucky enough to have money (not me) could get food from McDonald's. I sort of enjoyed that, and after we were done (it was 11 pm by now) it felt like I just stepped out of a time warp. I was told that the dorms were open again, and I went home. Flashback ends, and the world flashes back to normal Well, long story short, it was an exhilharating experience today. What a way to celebrate BCM's Gold date! (Only just now was I able to check my E-mail and the forum) Oh, well, I don't have classes tomorrow, so I'll celebrate then.

On my list, BC3k is definately numero uno. Half-life would be somewhere in the top ten, along with Master of Orion, Daggerfall, No One Lives Forever, and X-Com. I'd rather not think of what's on the bottom of the list.
-
At any rate, I can't wait to try it. I've been wondering for a long time what first-person combat was going to be like. Besisdes, if SC's right in that it's going to be relased after BCM goes gold, it won't be long before the whole thing ends up in my eager hands.

I don't think aramike meant to offend anyone here, but he's right. This forum is designed to promote everyone's opinions. If you find something offensive, make your opinion heard, but don't get in a tizzy about it.
-
Have you tried running Episode 2? It has a few optomizations, and it's likely that there's just some disagreement between the demo and your hardware that's been resolved in the next episode.
-
I agree with you, aramike. This picture is targeted twoards alfghan terrorists, not civilians. And we shouldn't close threads based on a few people's opinions. Unless somthing is truly vulgar, it shouldn't be closed. And he's right about another thing: this is a forum devoted twoard (I have no idea how to spell that word ), when you think about it, a very violent game. Think, RANDOM, a weapon that can demolish an entire planet. And think about the little argument we had about BCM's ECRB rating (I'm with SC on that). We come from a rather vilolent generation, with violence everywhere. So let's not let a little grey area get in the way of the fun. [ 09-21-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]

I couldn't hazard a guess... I suppose we'll just have to wait and see... I hope you're right about those extras, jstewart.
-
Well, anyting SC likes is bound to be something I like! I'm off to get the demo right now!

Just proving to myself and everybody that it IS possible.

From demolition's interview with SC concerning BCM's release date: quote: Derek: We're shooting for the 1st quarter of 2001, all things being equal Ah, wishful thinking. The longer it takes, the better it'll be. -
If it already went Gold, then why isn't the SC telling us!? Or are you gonna wait until it's actually started production?
-
I feel like getting out the interrogation chair and wrenching some information out of a few individuals. Oh, well, just have to wait and hope my guess is right.
-
I'm forced to agree with you, $iLk. SC has already told us that he was going to be keeping some things secret. I just hope my Tuesday prediction comes true...
-
Empty? I'm not exactly sure that's a good thing.
-
OK, it's working again. Thanks for your help.

Um... I'm not sure how to say this, or if I'm in the right forum, but the fourth page of "Countdown to Gold" (or pages 2 and 3 for that matter) aren't appearing on my browser anymore. I have no idea why this is happening, because it was working fine a few hours ago, and all the other topics are still working fine. Since then, I turned off the computer, went out for a few hours, came back, and discovered that it wasn't working. It isn't even giving me an error message, just a blank white screen and the word "done" at the bottom of my window (I'm using Internet Explorer, if that helps). Is anyone else having this problem, or is it some weird phenomenon with my computer?
-
Might as well take advantage of this while I can... I just get happier every day as we count down to GOLD!!!

Why do I get the feeling SC's gonna come in here and set rules and regulations about the use of these new smileys? Oh, well, he is the SC, and who am I to argue with him?
