  1. I don't think I was formally welcomed when I was a newbie, either. And if I don't qualify as an "active known member", I'll have to sit out until I get it.
  2. Oh, that would be sweet! My main concern about BCM was the size; there was only so much to explore. But if the galaxy keeps expanding as fast as I explore it... EDIT: Only so much to explore?! Did I really go nuts this time? But if the galaxy expanded, it would be cool. [ 10-03-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  3. I'm eager to try out my station assault tactic in BCM as SC had suggested. I'll also have to give first person a try.
  4. I have a few more questions. Do the players just choose a career and play it, occasionaly bumping into another player, or is it going to me like multiplayer instant action? Oh yeah, that made a lotta sense If people can't make their own servers and each server can only accomodate 16 players, should I be concerned about the total number of people who can be on multiplayer at one time? Or does Gamespy have so many servers that this isn't an issue? Yes Gamespy doesn't host the game Heh, this multiplayer thread has a lot more questions than answers. I think BCM's multiplayer will just tide us all over until the real multiplayer comes out... GCO! Oh, and btw, am I correct in saying that GCO will be a stand alone title? What do you think? Sorry about all these questions, but I'm just clueless about this multiplayer thing. I read that GCO thread that was closed, and I think that I have a lot to look forward to. 5. #20 Systems Engineers will also have to perform routine maintenece on the fecile matter waste disposal units. Otherwise we end up with a ship-wide contamination worse than a radine leak. EDIT: You don't want to know how true this is... [ 10-03-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  6. quote: quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) can you beam personel onto another ship to attempt a hostile takeover? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not in BC3K, and if my memory serves SC decided not to implement it in BCM... That would be cool, even though you can't go into first-person. It would also be cool if you could give the marines specific objectives, i.e. general havoc, kill the commander, destroy the cloaking device. After all, they can do it to you. This is kind of a wish list, I know, but a patch, maybe? Or would it be possible in GCO?
  7. You're right, you do. You also get medals, which was the original point of this topic. As for the top and bottom of the station, I never knew that. I'd try it, but I can't find anymore hostile stations. So now I'm bombarding Gammula with Bungnors. God, I wish I had a RANDOM.
  8. Before even attempting it, make sure you maxed out your shield upgrades. What I did was turn on the cloak before entering the system, then, close up to the station, about 25 clicks. Cut the throttle to nothing. Then decloack and start pummeling the station with your IOD (and Vagrant Missiles if you can afford them). Keep your PTA and EMD on to disrupt fighters and missiles. While doing this, keep an eye on your shilelds. If your shields are running low, hit the retro rockets, backing away until your shields recharge. Then hit the afterburners, closing the range. Repeat until station is crippled. SC, my thoughts exactly! [ 10-01-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  9. Well, let's see... I'm turning 18 on Friday, and I got BC3000AD 1.0 in 1997, so I was 14 when I started playing Battlecrusier.
  10. And I could be Supreme Cmdr!
  11. Not bad, SC! I'm trying to figure out if I'm "advanced" or "elite". Well, I did capture Gammulla... Anyway, I don't think I qualify as "well known", so I'd better hope the mailman isn't as slow as I think he is. EDIT: I wish I could spell better... Not spell better, as in the word "better", but... Oh, forget it! [ 10-01-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  12. My dad's been subscribing to CGW almost as long as they've been around, and he hasn't gotten rid of a single issue yet. (boxes in the attic) Next time I'm home, I'll have to dig up the April '94 issue and see the real thing.
  13. If it helps, after capturing several stations, (including Gammula ) I had at least one of all the medals. (including the Order of the Universe)
  14. Do you know where I can get one of those viewers? Oh, and a quick unrelated question that isn't worth a whole new topic: What does FTP stand for? Thanks in advance.
  15. Hmmm, I'm going to have to go with: Complete Seamless Galactic Warfare Simulator, CSGWS.
  16. What are those files inside the archive? And how do I use them? EDIT: I'm talking about the CGW article here. [ 09-30-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  17. No, I've never used PlayMod. If anyone has captured a starstation in free flight, please see if you have any medals. I did get promoted up to TacOps Commander.
  18. That's true, and I think this change is for the better, but we shouldn't implement the changes until most people here have their hands on it.
  19. I've been meaning to ask this question ever since I've been on this forum, but haven't gotten around to it. After capturing a starstation in Free Flight, I discovered that I had earned some medals. I thought there weren't medals in Free Flight. Is this just an oversight, or is my game corrupted?
  20. Well, welcome to the board, and to the universe of Battlecrusier! I'm still getting settled in myself. (with the forum, not the game) This is a one-of-a-kind... Urza searches for a good word, but can't find one thing that's courtesy of Derek Smart and company. As I've said before, no other developer I know of communicates directly with his fans, as well as making things like the VCF public. Derek's whole operation is geared toward the fans, (I believe I speak for everyone on this forum here) who are very appreciative of his hard work and dedication. A toast to you, SC!
  21. OK, I'm going to be honest. If my life turns out to be like Derek's (being a computer science major who makes calculator games in his spare time, that isn't too unlikely ) I'd be giving myself a round of applause. If making games doesn't work out, I'd probably be making a bundle of money, as there is great demand for someone of my talent. (or so I'm told) However, all that's assuming I can make it through English 101 . EDIT: The possessed keyboard strikes again! [ 09-29-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  22. The Countdowns never stop around here, as soon as one stops, another begins. As long as Derek keeps cranking things out, they'll always be a countdown!
  23. I'd give it a so-so. Nothing terrible, but nothing really great about it. I'll have to see a few more to really judge it. But I think those next few episodes will decide it for me. Oh, and I really didn't like the theme music. It wasn't the music itself, but I didn't think that song fit. The english guy was pretty cool. Probably just the resemblance to a certain other scottsman, who shall remain nameless. Apart from that, It was certainly worth watching.
  24. That reminds me of an old 70's game called "Match Game". I think they're still running reruns on Game Show Network.
  25. And that magical moment will be one of the highlights of my life! If there is such a thing as supreme happiness, I'd have it when I'm starting it up for the first time! (the first of many )
