  1. You don't even wanna know. Its got Sam Jackson and Eugene Levy in it.
  2. Did you order the new manual and keyboard sheet?
  3. We've concluded in Area 51 (with the one tester who was able to reproduce this) what I suspected. Everyone read this please.
  4. There seemed to be a problem with the latest Starforce protection in this patch and which caused some menu slowdowns on some machines. We have traced this to the new Starforce protection method. I have now re-released this patch using the previous protection method. Even if you already upgraded to 1.00.05 previously (before you read this) you need to download this refresh; just in case. To do this open the settings.ini file in Notepad Edit the version=1.00.05 line to version=1.00.04 Save the file. Close Notepad Run the Updater again
  5. No its not. They've just moving data. The game does not handle real-time positional updates.
  6. Do me a favor. If you can't be exact, DON'T POST. Now we've got that out of the way. Which is it. Did it fix your problem or did it seem to fix your problem. And while you're at it, tell me this. WHAT is the difference in those two statements? *sheesh*
  7. We took the little one to see this and I was pleasantly surprised. For a relatively unknown UK animation studio, it was really well done. Lots of family fun. 10/10
  8. Rubbish. 'nuff said. 2/10
  9. Absolutely LOVED it!! Not on par with those other Exorcism movies (of which the first was the best IMO) but very good and believable nonetheless. A must see if you're into these kinds of movies. 10/10
  10. Calling all guinea pigs If you have having this issue, download *file deleted* and execute it (it is self-extracting) into your game folder, overwriting the existing files. Then let me know if the problem is solved or not. I reverted to the previous Starforce config as I suspect that this is probably what is causing this on some machines (probably those that are quite possibly overclocked). 11. Obviously not impatient enough or you'd have ordered it by now.
  12. Here is why our next game (KnightBlade) is coming out first on the XBox360. Finally!! A console with the power to fuel my insane ideas.
  13. Hold off on that. I think I might have an idea wtf is going on. I remember that Starforce had an SDK update recently, so something's definitely changed. Looking into it now. Standby.
  14. So anyone still getting this slow menu business with 1.00.05?
  15. Use the game Updater to download and apply the patch. The online VCF has also been updated. NOTE: If this is the FIRST time that you are downloading a patch for this game, and your original CD-ROM is v1.00.01, be sure to download the latest Updater tool before using it. This replaces the original version included in the first release of the game. [ 09-12-2005, 08:08 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

All you need to do is fine the correct URL for UCAWA and update your sig with it. As to this slow menu issue; as I said, we're investigating it.
  17. The latest ATI drivers are Cat 5.8 (v8.162.0.0). Neither of the two of you are using those drivers as far as your sig goes. I have an ATI X800 and don't have a problem.

I suggest updating drivers, defragging your hard drive, and replacing any components that may be of iffy quality or are too old. In short, get your ducks in a row before you install. It has already cost me 1GB of Corsair XMS for $123.00. You have been warned! More will cost $10.00, are you serious, I upgrade my computers on average once every 6 to 12 Months!?! Yes, he is serious. The fee is for abject abusers. However, judging by the looks of your sig, you haven't upgraded your system since Clinton was president. So what - exactly - are you clamouring about? Though the initial activation only gives two, I am pretty flexible in re-issuing new keys for upgraders. I've had to do that a few times already (including for - would you believe - Shingen). I had the option of making the keys expire after more activations, but two is the industry standard; and it works just like winXP. Eventually, I will release a patch which invalidates the activation key; but that will be about six months or so. Remember, we couldn't go with a disc based (StarForce HW, SafeDisc) protection scheme because BMT Micro don't have the special equipment required and because there are several versions of the game using different DRM schemes. I have already discussed this at length. So, there is no need for panic.
  19. There's an open item in Area 51. We're looking into it. I can't possibly imagine why only some people are having it and not others. Odd. If you've messed with the game's config options (e.g. you enable AA), try using the defaults and see if that changes anything.
  20. Yeah, I know whats going on now actually. While you were testing, I was checking this. I was right. The line/collision intersect routine is so fast now, that some crafts which have turrets in which their gun/turret vector is at an optimum orientation (e.g. Violon), will perform the calculation and the shot so fast, that its faster than can be registered by the graphics pipeline (which affects the visuals of the turrets, the graduated HUD displays etc). So, unfortunately, this is not just a matter of disabling or tweaking something in order to fix. So, I have temporarily disabled those optimizations. The turrets are firing normal again (they *were* firing, but you couldn't *see* the shots because of the speed of the test) for now. Download new EXEs from the Beta folder. Note that I have not changed the game version numbers. Once I get a definitive fix, I will roll out a new patch to address this. These optimizations are too valuable to just disable them because we can't see the shots on some crafts. So I have to think up something. I'm on it. 21. So its the optimizations then. Now we have to figure out why it only affects that ship. As I said, the MK3 (for ex) looks just fine. Can you run some tests with other carriers and cruisers please, just to be sure; before I go off on a Red Herring hunt? Try the Nightstar. I'll explain later.
  22. I didn't do ANYTHING with gun firing. Nothing at all. I didn't modify the attributes of ships either. You have GBS-IV, go compare OBJDEFS.SCR to GBS-III and see for yourself. Weird thing is that the MK3 behaves just fine. So, I dunno why it is ship specific. It could be because of the placement of the guns on the Violon. Dunno. btw, those performance improvements appeared in 1.00.03. So, I dunno how you managed to have this issue in 1.00.02 (as you mentioned above). To get to the bottom of this (as I'm curious in figuring out wtf is going on), try this. Uninstall the game. Kill the folder. Re-install v1.00.01 from the CD-ROM Run that SG (it will work) again. Patch up to v1.00.02. Repeat the test. Note that 1.00.02 was just an INI file revision. No source code change. Do the same for 1.00.03 and 1.00.04 and lets figure out which version has this issue. Don't use the in game Updater. Download the patches from the patch server if they are not already in your game folder (which is where the Updater will put them). If you already have the patches, move them out of there before you re-install the game. [ 12-29-2005, 03:24 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  23. Special Advance Access Offer is now online btw, in case you didn't know, BCM and UC Gold will be on GameTap upon release; with UCAWA to follow in Q1/06
  24. quote: Originally posted by Darkling: I think that's what I'll do, I keep going back and forth between .03 & .04 and under .04 it almost seems as if it's working under Software Acceleration instead of Hardware Acceleration. If its just the menus that are affected, that won't bear any relevance to anything, since they don't use 3D acceleration. Also, if you invalidate your CD-KEY, you won't get another one without paying $10 for it. You are only allowed to install the game on one computer only and the activation is pretty conservative in what HW changes it will expire the activation (of which you only have two).
