I find him to be amusing at best.

Need I say more? At least now we know how he gets the money to make these travesties.

Serves them right. I mean seriously, this country is getting out of hand with the crap on gaming.

Recommended High-End Hardware for UC AWA
Supreme Cmdr replied to sckid1108's topic in Universal Combat Series
My baseline gaming rig in my sig runs the game just fine at 1024x768 with all options on high. Anything above that and I have to drop stuff like lighting and AA down a notch. -
Universal Combat : A World Apart - NOW ON SALE!!
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in News
Your best bet is to get it from BMT Micro. We are having problems with TryMedia's ActiveMark protection system and unless they resolve it, I won't be releasing the game on their service. -

...I have no clue what he's talking about either.

Yeah, I have it running on a 64 Bit machine here and which I tested on 64 Bit Windows. Works fine. But like you said, lack of drivers for more peripherals is making 64 Bit Windows a bit slow on the adoption side. Especially for gaming. Glad to hear about the sound accel seeming to solve the crashing problem. I suspected as such.

Actually I lowered my sound accel. settings down one notch since UC. It helps a lot with stability in most games. For our next games (after UCAWA and the upcoming UCG), we're switching to a different sound engine (OpenAL) instead of using the basic DirectSound/3D in DirectX. As for the terrain. heh, just WAIT until you see the new improvements being targeted for the next game. btw, anyone played the EFP campaign through yet? If so, there is a thread over here.

quote: I've been playing for a while in roam mode and have been having crashes on and off (roughly every 15 to 20 minutes.) I can't put my finger on what is causing them though as they seem to be random crashes.Running on a 64 Bit processor, your guess is as good as mine. While the game does run on 64 Bit machines (I have one), it is NOT supported and is NOT part of the game's sys requirements. Anyway, I will upload a debug EXE to Area51 later this week and if you can reproduce the crash, at least it will give me an idea of where it is occuring. I'm quite certain that any/all crashes of this nature, would be in the video/audio drivers; since they are probably not 64 Bit video/audio drivers Anyway, I just tried your test and it works just fine. btw, NPC crafts emerging from a planet will usually pick a random planet/moon to emerge from IF there is more than one in the region. This has always been the case and I never got around to doing anything about it because it is non-fatal and doesn't affect the player's egress to space. quote: Originally posted by Andergum: ** note: I did save the game a couple of times during my test run Probably related to an issue (which I just fixed and noted in the VCF) related to saving games with planet set as targets. I have reproduced and fixed this. In fact, its been in there since UC. The SFM is not supposed to have an asset; hence the reason the cargo table is not implemented. Apparently nobody noticed that if you docked with the SFM, then pressed the cargo button, the game would crash. [ 09-12-2005, 05:45 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Random and inconsistent CTD issues
Supreme Cmdr replied to Matchoo's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
Whoa!!! Looks like we were both posting at the SAME time. How weird is that? -
As previously mentioned, I recently decided to have printed manuals done for those who want to have it. BMT Micro will start shipping them out on August 29th. These are in limited quantity, so if you want one, now would be a good time to pre-order one as I don't intend on doing another production run. You can order over here.

UC AWA and future game 64 bit support?
Supreme Cmdr replied to FishGills's topic in Universal Combat Series
I have no plans for future 64 Bit support; especially since 32 Bit games work just fine on 64 Bit machines. At least my games work just fine on my 64 Bit systems. -
Based on saved game that was sent to me, I was able to reproduce and fix this problem. The VCF has been updated. Basically, if you SHIFT+9 to a planet, then saved the game during the HJ transition (I have NO idea why anyone would want to even do this), restoring the game would cause a crash when the craft emerged from the HJ and is about to set the planet as its waypoint. Random and inconsistent CTD issues
Supreme Cmdr replied to Matchoo's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
Did you select an asset for the SFM? And please don't hijack a thread again. Create your own thread with a conclusive report. Next time, the post will be deleted. EDIT: I have reproduced and fixed this. In fact, its been in there since UC. The SFM is not supposed to have an asset; hence the reason the cargo table is not implemented. Apparently nobody noticed. OK, this is just sick. This movie is gonna be AWESOME!!!
-
Saw this one on the big screen last night and I just couldn't help thinking: cheesy action flick. Dunno though, it could be good.

Quite short, but watchable. For some it might seem rather abrupt, no plot twists or anything of the sort. But its a worthy thriller (if you can call it that). 8/10

Stargate SG-1: The Alliance
Supreme Cmdr replied to Captain McMahon's topic in PC Gaming & Technology
Thats nothings changed and that Namco didn't sign a new deal for the game; they already had distribution rights through JoWood. And that unless the matter is resolved, Namco don't have rights to the game. -
Random and inconsistent CTD issues
Supreme Cmdr replied to Matchoo's topic in Battlecruiser / Universal Combat (Legacy)
450MB of memory is nothing. Please don't create tech support threads about issues that are either nothing directly related to the game or conclusive of same. The game's requirements are crystal clear and there are no crashes, memory leaks or whatnot (we have tools for that) or there would have been a patch released by now. Unless it can be reproduced, it can't be fixed. ...plus, your system barely meets with the game's minimum requirements. -
Yeah, I have a few things related to the ground asset switching that I need to re-think and redo in a future patch. As for the pitch, they won't pitch more than 45 degrees and thats normal. If they pitched any higher, the bit where the barrel is connected, will intersect the body of the model. Besides, even in real life military units, the pitch of guns has a restricted range of pitch. No AI revisions were made to the behavior of cap ships; so I have no idea what you're talking about in that regard.

Stargate SG-1: The Alliance
Supreme Cmdr replied to Captain McMahon's topic in PC Gaming & Technology
Ganked from Blues quote: To follow-up on last night's report of a new publishing deal between Namco and Perception for Stargate SG-1: The Alliance (story). The webpage this was all based on reflected Namco's original role in the game's distribution, rather than any new arrangement, and apparently Namco's involvement in this project still hinges on the outcome of the original dispute between JoWooD and Perception (story and story). Apologies for any confusion the erroneous story caused.
