The reason I decided to do that (much like I did with BCMG) is because I realize that not everyone is going to have the horsepower to run UCAWA; especially since it requires BOTH pixel and vertex shader 1.1. So, at least UCG will be the next stop until those cheapskates upgrade. Once the final 2.00.30 patch for UC is released this month, thats the EOL closure for that one. As for Battlecruiser Next Gen, the Reality Engine is just stupendously amazing.

Woohoo!! 24 gets two more seasons!!

Quoted from GNN quote: In other news, while Universal Combat - A World Apart, the eagerly awaited sequel to the original 2004 game, went Gold on 04-15-05 for release this May, several issues with the publisher (Dreamcatcher) have not only held up the boxed retail release of that title, but also led to the termination of the agreement. As a result, Dreamcatcher no longer has those rights as they have now reverted back to 3000AD Inc. We are in the process of negotiating with other interested parties for the boxed retail rights to this product. We also recently terminated the Battlecruiser Millennium Gold and Universal Combat agreement which we also had with this publisher. Those rights have also now reverted back to 3000AD Inc and a cease & desist has been issued to Dreamcatcher, advising them to stop any further production and marketing of these two games or face legal action under the DMCA and other copyright infringement laws. This issue with Dreamcatcher does not affect the e-commerce download version of UCAWA, which we expect to have available within the coming weeks once all the server side preparations have been completed and tested with our e-commerce partners (e.g. Trymedia, BMT Micro and others) who will be carrying the product.

Universal Combat - First Impressions
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Universal Combat Series
Play the game for what it is, not what you want it to be or what you think it should be. Obviously as the designer, I wanted the game the way it is. You don't have to like it. -
E3: Xbox 360 fails to convince in LA

The issue is that recently Hypernia changed our IP addresses. So the new DNS for the CD-KEY auth server has not yet fully propagated.

It has been reported just now that if the ucmpkey.ini file already exists, you can join a server as normal. But you can't authenticate if you are joining the server for the first time and entering your CD-KEY. We're looking into it.

New patch with this fix has been released.

quote: Originally posted by Wolfheart: BTW whatever you've done with that exe file will probably solve this problem too, since its the same problem(and all users who were having this problem also have the problem reported in the linked thread). Thanks again Yes, it is the same thing; but I don't plan on fixing it for the demo, since the game is coming out soon. quote: Originally posted by Marvin: This thread has got to be the most impressive example of after-the-fact program debugging I've ever seen. hehe, I had to dig real DEEP in my karma because it was a puzzle that I simply had to solve. Once I determined (via PTEstudio) that it was not a graphics issue and from Wolfheart that it wasn't a patching or install issue, my mind was made up and that I had to find it. Yeah, I'm obsessive like that. Now who'da thunk it that a simple call to setlocale( LC_ALL, "" ); would cause so much aggravation? I blame Microsoft.

Check the reg page. The online VCF has also been updated. You have to positively read the VCF before applying this patch. You have been warned. For those of you new to UC. You need to install the v2.00.00 patch first, before installing this patch on top of it. WARNING: Due to users going from the base 2.00.00 patch to the current 2.00.xx patch; this patch WILL delete ALL saved games. So, if you are upgrading from 2.00.19 or higher, backup the files in the SAVE folder before applying the patch. If you run an mp server, you should also backup your UCSETUPMP.INI file. After applying the patch, copy them back to the SAVE folder. If you attempt to do this with any saved game version earlier than the specified version, good luck bud.

OK, I know what the problem is. It has to to with localization. That was the ONLY code change between v2.00.20 and v2.00.21. So, I went into the 2.00.30 code and disabled it. I came to this conclusion after realizing that only non-US gamers were having this problem. Since the maps are loaded with strings, if the computer is using a different locale or character set, the map name will be mangled. Hence the problem. Wolfheart, thanks for your exceptional diligence and assistance with this. You have just earned yourself a free [download] copy of UCAWA. I am going to build a new patch for this right now and will upload it in a bit.

OK Restore your original DATA files back to the original versions and delete that uc_scenarios.zip file so you don't use it by mistake in the future. Backup your UC.EXE file to UC.BAK Download this UC.EXE, extract it into your game folder. Run the IA0111 scenario again
-
Make a backup of all the ZIP files in your DATA folder. Then download this file and extract it into your game folder so that the files go into that folder. Run the IA0111 scenario again and give me the results.
-
Didn't I ask if you were running with the default game config options and you said yes? If so, WHY does the UCCONFIG.INI file you sent me, contain changed options? Delete that file and run the IA0111 scenario again.

Just to make sure that this issue is not patch download related; I have uploaded a full 2.00.30RC10 patch to the registration section. Uninstall the game and DELETE the folder Install from the retail CD-ROM Apply the 2.00.30RC10 FULL patch Run IA0111 and let me know if the map is still wrong or not.

Please open a console window in your game install folder and execute this command. dir /s > ucinstall.txt Run DXDIAG and save the output to a file. Zip up both files above, as well as your UCCONFIG.INI and UCSETUP.INI files; and send to me ([email protected]) Make sure that the subject and body of the email contains "Requested Universal Combat Files" or the email will be rejected by my spam filter.
