  2. The chute failed to deploy. Now they can kiss another $260+ million dollars of tax payers money, goodbye. Another NASA setback.
  3. Universal Combat has now been added to the Windows XP Game Advisor service. Just launch the URL, start the game advisor and select Universal Combat from the simulations section. Here is a sample of a run I did on one of my dev stations.
  4. http://www.direct2drive.com/ Feel free to gnash your teeth. And whatever you do, be sure to read the FAQ and the TOS. Yet another hole in the Phantom Game Console strategy?
  5. quote: Originally posted by Cougar_DK: Mayby Tiger, but I have read the manual, the vcf and NO-WHERE does it says that "Please don't walk on your CC because the screen will bounce.". I don't know how I could dig deeper in this? Please advice. Thats just it, isn't it? Its not a feature. Its not documented - ANYWHERE. Just because you can do it, doesn't mean you should. And if you can do it without having a problem fine, more power to you. MOST people KNOW how to do it and consistently do it. So, don't frigging post a problem report in my tech support forum about an undocumented feature which bears NO RELEVANCE to the game whatsoever. THEN argue with me about rubbish.
  6. What is facinating to me is that most folks have figured a ton of undocumented aspects of the games, find new and creative ways of doing the most unimagineable things; yet, can't [by observation] figure out what exactly the SR does, why and when. Thats just funny to me.
  7. What the heck are you folks arguing about? If you have ANY support units on the planet - regardless of WHERE they are, the support units menu filter in Tacops, will locate them. And THATS why I put that filter there. Apart from that, given the size of the planets, if you're going to drop a drone and not keep track of where it is, thats incompetence, pure and simple.
  8. Today, some of you will learn that when I said NO FLAMING on this board and that if it happens I would ban ANYONE who does it, regardless of tenure here, that I was serious.
  9. Now what fun would it be if I gave the answer, especially given the hilarity that has thus far ensued? Quite frankly, I'm a tad surprised that nobody has figured this out yet.

  11. LMAO!!!!
  12. quote: Originally posted by Cougar_DK: How can you say that you now anything about me after showing that list? Under half of my posts is about UC/BCM the rest is about other games. I only post in the UC forums, if I think I have a problem or as answers to other peoples threads. uhm, huh? I was pointing to posts which have the same theme from you as this one here. And just to alleviate what you are saying now, I posted direct links to TWO examples. *sigh* quote: But since this has gone way out of line I will leave it here.Fine. I have no idea what you're going on about, quite frankly; I was merely making a point by showing a pattern of....aw forget it. I can't be bothered.
  13. quote: Originally posted by Cougar_DK: Yes he sure does. And since you know nothing about me Oh, but I do. Your posting history about some nonsense or another - which you don't bother to take the time to research, speaks volumes. Here's a tip: When VERY FEW people pay attention to your posts, you should ask yourself this question: ...is it just me?. More often than not, you will find that the answer is usually a resounding, ...yeah, its just you. For example, try this, this and several others.

  15. The charge is not the only item that is responsible for the ready state of the craft. Read the manual.
  16. Its obviously rocket science - to you - if you don't know how/when to use it. A man has got to know his limitations.
  17. You have GOT to see this movie. There's nothing special about it, its not ground breaking, it is formulaic in some aspects etc, but, just go see it and you'll find yourself chearing more than once. 9/10
  18. quote: Originally posted by Marvin: quote:Originally posted by Shingen: If people are not going to introduce themselves and make an effort, I don't want them in TDH. Shin, if you do it that way, you'll probably get nothing but n00bs who don't read before posting. Many who actually read all the prerequisite info simply register at the Fleet database and wait for a reply. Yep, I agree. And this is also in line with the registrations in that we have a lot of forum registrations who either post once or not at all. Others have nothing to post, so they don't register, seeing that they can just read and easily find what they are looking for since the forum is open for viewing.

  20. I mean, I don't want to be egotistical or anyting, but for the past TEN YEARS, I've had the technology to do everything they are touting in their FAQ, and more. And even with my games (BCM and onward) with space and planetary aspects, it is a poppouri of technologies and features that only dedicated gamers (the niche audience) have the attention span to withstand. You're going to have a very, very hard time developing a game that is first person, in a ship, in buildings, on planets, other players as crew etc and keep it fun or even do it right. And so far, I am the ONLY person in the ENTIRE industry, who has the [seamless] technology to do it. I'm sure others can develop it given time, but I've had almost FIFTEEN years to bridge the gap between seamless space+planetary worlds, first person, space+planetary combat etc etc. I shudder, just thinking about it and reading their FAQ is like reading the bullet points for an election campaign. The first problem they are going to have? Its bridging a first person + inship perspective with a bridge to and ext-ship perspective. Then of course you have to keep track of other players who are part of another player's craft. This is rubbish and I suspect that its just a marketing gig with funding raising intent. If this game is EVER done, mark my words, it will end up being a shooter in the ST universe (which is not a bad thing if done right) that won't even have 50% of what they are touting NOW - almost two years to Beta. In fact, I've just saved their FAQ to disk. We'll compare when the Beta comes out. I am a big ST fan and this is just silly. Why not start SMALL and move up via add-ons etc? This design is just too ambitious and unachievable. Another thing that strikes me is that they are touting this from the FAQ ""Who is making this game?" section. Perpetual Entertainment is a two year-old company founded and built by MMO and game industry veterans with the express purpose of developing ground-breaking persistent-world games. Do you see ANY industry names in there? Normally, one would expect to see notable names of these supposedly game and industry veterans in a such a venture. This to me seems to be a bunch of refugees from one MMO aspect of the industry who think they can break out on their own with such a massive undertaking. Now think about this for a minute: how many of these [folks] have we not seen crash and burn; and all over whom started out with similar claims. This is so silly, I'm pissed. I hope that when Avault interviews them, that they ask these questions and quote me if needed. Goddamn amateurs. [ 09-07-2004, 08:11 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

But why does my magnetic boots fixate me then? And like some of the other guys I really like the size of objects in this game and like to take a walk on them. Because you don't know how to do it. It works just fine. Depending on your frame rate if the game keeps attaching you to the hull of the craft or if you are attempting to walk on an irregular part of the craft, you will get the jittering. Like I said, it works for what it is supposed to allow you to do. But just because the game allows you to do it, doesn't mean you should. The ability to exit your craft in space was not implemented so that you could go walking around *on* the ship. And this ability to walk on your ship has been around since BCM, works just fine and has never been modified.
