Universal Combat - First Impressions

This is not an arcade game. It is a military game. As such, SA is a key component. Unless you learn what it is, you should't be playing a military game. Its not an arcade game. quote: To enumerate: 1) Perspective is a little too artificial, for lack of a better word. It's hard to judge range, and everything gets blocky at distant ranges. (the aformentioned tag doesn't help) Rubbish. Targets are accurately sized and placed in the world. There is nothing artificial about them. As I indicated above, you have a very effective radar system (which has been in place for almost 15 yrs) and it works just fine. Learn how to use it when a target is BVR. quote: 1a) The hud radar display clusters all targets on a plane which you view from it's edge. This compounds the problem above. (A more conventional top-down display that shows the targets around you and their ranges would be less confusing)The radar is not responsible for cluttering anything. It is a wide band radar and if you know math, you should know the effects of a group of objects, in close proximity as projected onto a device designed to identify them as far away as 250km. Guess you have the ability to cycle targets either with the keyboard or a mouse and also be able to identify them in the VDD. quote: 2) More high res textures would improve the look tremendously. No it won't. quote: 3) It's hard to pick up items off the ground because they blend in too well. (I noticed when I was using the gunship, that dead marines appeared to drop things like rocket launchers, but I was unable to confirm this because I could never find anything despite occasionally seeing them displayed on the hud. I don't know if you actually can pick things up at this point)Not sure who/what gave you the impression that you could pick things off the ground. -
Went to see Vol. 2 yesterday. Wow!! Just wow!! Today, I'm going to see if Drammine works, and try and watch Vol 1 on DVD. I liked everything about Vol 2. Carradine shows that he's still got it. Man, this guys plays good/bad in a span of a few frames. Its just amazing how they did that. That fight with Elle and The Brida. Wow!! Best cat fight ever! But then again, I never saw Vol 1. 10/10 quote: This film also has one of the most entertaining fight sequences of all time... even without the decapitations and geysers of blood from Vol 1.I assume you are talking about the Elle vs The Bride cat fight? Also, which fights were dropped and what were they about? The movie seemed pretty cohesive to me, so I can't tell where those would have been inserted.

Over the years, I have seen Thomas Jane is various straight to DVD/Video movies and when I heard that The Punisher was being made, funny enough, he was the first person that came to mind. I have NO idea why that was. Then I heard he had been cast to do it. I saw this movie yesterday - and I quite agree that it is one of the best comic book movies ever made. Unfortunately, The Punisher is not as popular as, say, X-Men or Spiderman, so I don't expect it to make that kind of buzz or box office numbers. To me, the movie is perfect. Very good pacing, no over-the-top gratuitous gore (except for that one guy with the knife at the end fight) and TJ did an amazing job of portrating the surly, sarcastic Frank Castle. John Travolta, as always, plays pure evil to the absolute letter. I hope it makes enough numbers so that we get to see another one, since its just tons better than Blade (To me, Blade II was just rubbish, even though it had Ron Perlman in it). Definitely going to see it again before it finishes its run. 10/10

Which part of p24 in the Radar Modes section - particularly the use of the R key, wasn't clear? Have you actually used that key to see what happens in the TRS? Try it. *moved*

Yep, but Hellboy came first

Oh good, cuz I was planning on doing a double header this weekend by watching both this and the Punisher back to back. I bought KB1 on DVD for keep sakes (since I have all QT's movies).

There is a good chance that it will never happen.

I can't believe you guys started without me.

No wait, I double dare ya btw, Jaguar is an admin and any fool who thinks that I appoint admins on a whim, is seriously in need of therapy.

Vanquish Multiplayer Game Mode
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in General Multiplayer Discussions
Due to lack of time (and the amount of code re-working required), I have unfortunately nixed this idea. I am in the planning stages of a UC add-on, so hopefully I will be able to focus on this as a primary feature, instead of just hacking it into the current UC framework. I may still be able to implement some form of base capture using DJPs already within the scene. I'm still tossing the idea around. The biggest problem with this feature is that once a base is captured, the race/caste of all the assets within it, has to change to that of the capturing team. And unless the planet is re-loaded, there is no way to reset it. This is because the game has no concept of "maps", in that the entire game world is, well, one world sized map. -
I have forwarded this question to DC Europe and hopefully I'll get an answer soon. Unless someone knows the answer.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, this patch will not be released today; but I am still shooting to have it released by the end of the weekend.
-
quote: Originally posted by Piewackit: yes, it is the graphics driver; however, the new patch comes out today, so this issue may be resolved. Look at the path information. The patch has nothing to do with that. Graphics anomalies like that are related to the video card driver. If you can't play the game because you can't go to Jupiter, uhm, well, what can I tell you?

Have to buy new Grafikcard, need help :-)
Supreme Cmdr replied to Darkreaver1980's topic in PC Gaming & Technology
Its not an FX card. It is a GeForce 6800 Ultra. Thats how the confusion starts. And I already created a thread in the GAMES forum with links to about five reviews. Do try to keep up. -
This patch has become too massive, so I am going to be releasing it tomorrow as is. There are still some mp issues (ground objects on the planet) which still need to be resolved and are currently high priority for the next 1.02.01 patch hopefully due out by the end of the month. In the meantime, the 1.02.00 patch is massive enough to keep everyone busy....and off my back. The public mp servers will be running this version tomorrow and will go live to the public (password removed) upon release of this patch. [ 04-20-2004, 07:33 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Wow, you finally got it right Anyway, as far as not being able to type your name, dunno. Try what I suggested above. Also maybe your system does not have the fonts used by the game. Try manually installing the fonts located in the DATA folder via Control Panel and see if that helps. But you should be able to type your name by just left-clicing in the field and start typing. Or you have DX9 installed incorrectly etc etc. As I said, I dunno.

OK, so, how much longer before this implodes? March 16th - Chairman Brant Resigns April 14th - CEO Lapin Resigns Earnings from the last few years back have been restated This quarter has gone from being forecasted as a 33 cent/share profit to a 15 cent loss. And over on CNN Money [ 04-15-2004, 09:09 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Is it safe to say that when you destroy bases they stay destroyed? OK great, you've beat the game then? Good, time to move on I suppose.
