Not sure how they hope to stand up against, oh, lemme see FarCry, Soldner, Joint Operations, Doom3, HL2, UT2004 etc.

GBS III to be released with Universal Combat
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Universal Combat
quote: Originally posted by drdespair: all I see are broken promises, another thing that DC will be blamed for, although from what I remember we were told that UC was almost ready for shipping in December, with the exception of small list of issues, I even remember that we were asked for an opinion.... oh well..its not like we should be surprised. Oh yeah, YOUR broken promises are more important than an IP being tarnished, a publisher breaching a contract, me losing almost every dime I put into this game because they priced it at $19.99 etc etc Its simple. The Beta testers know how to use it and I don't have to support it. And you don't release tools for a $19.99 game because no matter what ANYONE says, I would still have to support it, finish the docs etc etc. Normally, I'd just close this thread, but I'm not going to. I'll just let you continue to look foolish. And if gets out of hand, I'll lock the thread. And no, I have NO interest in selling it separately. -
CTD when exiting ships in Space
Supreme Cmdr replied to Elric_Sloan's topic in Universal Combat Series
Yeah, its related to the sniper rifle because the same happens to profile 6. This problem is only if you try to exit in space. On a planet its fine (at least the last time I checked). -
If it can't be replaced, you won't get the option to do so.

Terran Female Commander
Supreme Cmdr replied to Darkken Nightshade's topic in Universal Combat Series
quote: Originally posted by Darkken Nightshade: Screen starts as Male, Terran, Changing sex to Female does not update the shown picture unless you also change the Caste to something else and then back to Terran. Yeah, I need to fix that. Also, when the character model was revised, the _terran images for both the female and male commanders were not updated. This has already been sorted out for the final 1.00.02 patch. -
BC vets on the newbreed of newbies

They missed all the fun and are only just showing up now that there are few problems and the series has matured. Lucky b*stards. -
Its mostly craft specific, not planet specific

Universal Combat - First Impressions

I was merely correcting your misconceptions. quote: The amount of time that must have gone into this thing over the years is staggering and I wouldn't even begin to think that I could do better in any area of this title.Go tell that to those yammering about how it could be better - when they have NO idea just how complex it is to balance those options. quote: 2.) The Box- UNIVERSAL COMBAT: LAND, SPACE, SEA, AIR. I don't think I'm nuts for thinking I'd be able to jump into a naval career of some sort. The back mentions "fierce naval engagements" and I'm still looking for a boat, sub, mini-sub, or ship that responds to the / key in the same way that the SAMs and turrets do. You can. They all do. Read the manual and its revision quote: I still get a little upset when my shuttle responds to a "land" waypoint as a "crash into the ground at full speed repeatedly until I blow up" waypoint, especially after spending 20 minutes in tacops setting up the invasion. I don't recall this ever happening in Millenium but I've lost half my brave marines in UC to shuttle crashes.Do it properly. Like, well, everyone else quote: So I was wrong on a few points, but I'll stand by some of what I said.No worries -

(i.e. too massive for a patch) There's nothing I can do about it. In your case, you're running a 1.3Ghz machine, which barely the minimum requirement for the game.

Cool. The final patch has all the screen elements in the HUD (at higher resolutions) better aligned. It was a font rendering problem. Quite odd that.

quote: Originally posted by DiscoJason: I have the data. One thing to note is that something has indeed changed with the W key since 0-9 has been implemented. It used to be that holding down the W key got me up to a max speed (which I guess is an afterburner speed) and it would keep it there when I let go of the W button. It no longer does that, but instead decreases the speed back down to the rate determined by which key, 0-9, I have set. I read that paragraph above and stopped reading because I don't like people wasting my time. *topic moved*

CTD when exiting ships in Space
Supreme Cmdr replied to Elric_Sloan's topic in Universal Combat Series
quote: Originally posted by Elric_Sloan: Jumped back into the game and tried different Gear profiles and found that the ONLY time I CTD'd was when using profile 5, which I like to use because of the Sniper Rifle in that one. GBS III to be released with Universal Combat
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Universal Combat
No it shouldn't because it has nothing to do with this thread as I do not plan on releasing GBS-III to the public. Ever. -
I have no idea what you're talking about. Anyone getting this? I'm not.

quote: Originally posted by DiscoJason: If this is as intended, that section of the manual needs to be reworded to say 9 is the max of the craft at default engine levels. It always was. At factor 9, the thrust of your craft will cap to its capabilities, regardless of what you have in Logistix. So, if you had it set to 5, when you press 9, the max thrust of the craft would be lower than if you had it at 10 in Logistix.

What are the UC multiplayer options/modes?
Supreme Cmdr replied to Hab's topic in General Multiplayer Discussions
quote: Originally posted by Grizzle: Gammulans start in their own star system, so in that case you would have to go looking for them, but it won't be hard. LMAO!!! FYI, once I have wrapped up the single player bug fixes, tweaks and whatnot, my #1 focus will be on tightening up multiplayer some more and doing some more tweaks and polishing. The game is very, very powerful and we can't have BF1942 type skirmishs because the mp kernel needs some spin and shine here and there. -
You should be able to run the console server on Windows Server 2003 I think. Just be sure to use something like UltraVNC to start it, if you are accessing it remotely. You need the 1.00.02 RC3 patch - but be aware of the screen corruption bug in the console server. Lemme know how it goes, because I'm interested.

I've changed every setting in my video options and the game options to no avail. Nothing to do with the game. Wait until ATI get their drivers act in gear. I am running a 9800PRO with Catalyst 4.2 and have NO problems. quote: The Naval combat, how shall I say, is lacking. It sort of... well... ISN'T EVEN THERE! Please show it to me. quote: Am I the only person who realizes that nothing has changed? I mean, when a game developer says the next title will have a more streamlined and intuitive interface, I expect a little more that a square HUD being replaced by a round HUD. It still takes the same 10-20 mouse clicks just to send a fighter out to attack a planetside base. Nothing has changed? You must be kidding The interface is streamlined just fine. But since you're not playing it, you won't know. It is a franchise property and there is NO reason to replace what works just because someone wants it to change. It was just FINE the way it was before. I did streamline it by redoing the menus, removing the icons, grouping the various HUD elements (e.g. weapons all on the left now), the ENTIRE fp HUD was completely re-written, the flight sim vertical tape HUD was replaced with a sci-fi graphic etc etc I could - from my design dos - list no less than.....61 interface revisions. ...yeah, nothing has changed. pah! APN/Exocet shows as a reactor upgrade.
Supreme Cmdr replied to Drastic's topic in Universal Combat Series
When I added missiles for the naval units, I threw off the ASSETS.INI file. This has been corrected. Re-download the RC3 patch (from your registration profile) and apply on top of your correct version to fix this problem.
