Not ready for public release. Only the Beta testers have it.

Its up at 12.164.57.156 port 14567 and the password is renegade Gonna leave it running all night and if it crashes when I'm in bed, well then. I'm logged on as Warmonger

Get it!! Yeah, its a bit on the arcade side, but man, is it addictive!! With over 1000+ servers to date - ALL PACKED - its pretty hard to find a free server to play on. But if this keeps up, I'm going to setup my own dedicated server and password protect it. If any of you already have it and want to play a game later this evening, let me know and I'll see if I can get a dedicated 32-player server going. 1. Beta patches are unsupported 2. Before posting ANYTHING in pre-release Beta patch forums (or ANYWHERE for that matter), READ the VCF - INCLUDING the section CLEARLY marked as reported issues. m'kay?

quote: Originally posted by Cruis. In: thanks for that information there SC. Soback when you initially said they were Nullspace..I was "huh" to myself. But really I couldn't argue because after all I am a newbie to "BCM" Null space is where you end up if you happen to fly off the edge of any space region. Rather than have limiting walls like most games, I have a recursive self-generating code which creates the null space region to infinity. In other words, you will always be in a valid region of the game space, of which null space is one. quote: But I don't believe the probe was refering to you or anything you know of. You're right, its not. Its part of the overall BC franchise storyline which spans several games quote: Oh another note...i left my SC1 in the Obsidia region...and the poor shuttle appears not to be able to fly to and exit at the Flux15 field to get back to Altris. I'll have to go back for it with my CC.You should know better than that. NPCs cannot use fluxfields. Period.

Get the GF4Ti. Its marginal. But if you can get the 128MB Radeon 8500, get that one instead, since I think the GF4Ti4200 only comes with 64MB of memory, though I'm not sure. If it comes with 128MB, then get it. If not, get the ATI 8500 Don't get the 8500LE because thats got a slower core/memory clock - 250/250Mhz compared to the 275/275Mhz of the 8500

Its rubbish. Anyway, who is in charge of the webring these days. The first step is to remove it from the ring and then I'll have tripod kill the site for copyright infringements. Simple stuff really. So, when its removed from the ring, let me know and its as good as gone.

Sort of like a mid-flight fueling stop or something. Wrong! A supernova is its own region, just like any normal space region or blackhole. The difference being that they are usually empty but mostly inhabited by high AI entities with the ability to remain cloaked. The reason you don't see them on a map is because only a flux field can get you to a supernova. There are 10 of them in the current galaxy [ 08-17-2002, 07:23 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Playmod cheat utility released
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Battlecruiser Millennium
I have updated the Playmod file to include some sample most used cheat parameters. -
hehe, serves you right. Seriously though, keep us posted - I'm enjoying your little disastrous adventure quote: So far this has proven that no other petty race can stop the Gammulans. And as Iv said before GAMMULANS WILL RULE THE UNIVERSE!!! On my game at least.uhm right, don't you have to get outta Sol first? Anyway, ISS, Starpath or Earthstar get their trigger. You'll see just how painful death can be. Keep watching the clock. [ 08-16-2002, 09:20 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

oooooopss sorry Tyrn, I opened your post in edit instead of quote mode. Thank God for the back button! Anyway... quote: PS Please note that the above hyperjump ploy is likely to get you killed in MP as real commmanders and pilots know to just sit and wait for you to limp out of hyperspace and then finish you off.....not if you drop a Sigma thermonuclear mine just before you drop out of hyperspace. Its just as devastating as RANDOM and will take out any and everything (without a high class shield+armor) within a 500km radius. Which means, well, anyone lurking around a jump anomaly. ....oh wait, thats BCG. Sorry, please disregard [ 08-16-2002, 08:22 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

If you have fleet C&C and you can't launch a shuttle to tow you, just launch one from a station and order it to tow you. If you can't access a station from where you are, launch a probe (assuming you can) and order it to the region where the station is. Once it gets there, you will have sci-link access to the region and as such, access to the station - which you can then select and ask it to launch a shuttle. Besides, it would help if you actually told us where you were exactly. If you happen to be in Sol, you're deader than Resnig asking Kara for a date; since there isn't a single Gammulan station for several parsecs. People wasting my time. I looked at the INI files you sent, including the entire bcmfiles.txt file. This patch is INCORRECTLY applied (as I already stated in my previous post) The files are NOT from RC17 (as you indicated above) The BCCONFIG.INI file is NOT from a new game because if it was, MOST of the entries below wouldn't be in it!!! e.g. the game's default res is 640x480. You have it set to 1280x1024. How did you get into CONFIG in order to change the defaults, if you CAN'T run the game?!?!?!?! What does all this mean? Simply that you did NOT follow the instructions for applying a patch. Period. If you had, for one thing, your BCCONFIG.INI file would contain default entries. AND since you claim to have started from scratch, there wouldn't even BE a BCMCONFIG.INI file for the RC15 patch to rename because it would NOT exist if you NEVER did run the game AFTER patching from 1.0.07 to 1.0.08 RC15. If you were doing this properly, the FIRST time you would've have to run the game, is AFTER patching to 1.0.08 RC17. At which point, a new BCCONFIG.INI file would be created at startup. Apart from that, there is a good chance that if you load BCCONFIG.INI into Notepad and changed that 1280x1024 to 640x480 or if you just deleted it and let the game create a new one with defaults, the game would probably load. If not, again, start from scratch and apply the patches properly. code: [frontend] saveStats=NUM- quit=ESC exit=SHIFT+ESC logistix=F1 tactical=F2 navitron=F3 tradcom=F4 miscon=F5 roster=F6 commlink=F7 config=F8 ElapseTime1=Ctrl+T ElapseTime2=Ctrl+Shift+T ScreenShot=Ctrl+G [Joystick] HatMode=ALT+J FireLaser=JBUTTON1 FireMissile=JBUTTON2 NearestTrgtInLineOfSight=JBUTTON3 ClosestAttacker=JBUTTON4 ClosestEnemyTrgt=JBUTTON5 ClosestAttackerToCurTrgt=JBUTTON6 PrevEnemyTrgt=JBUTTON7 NextEnemyTrgt=JBUTTON8 CycleWeapon=JBUTTON9 [FP] FireWeapon=MBUTTON00 MoveForward=W MoveBackward=S StrafeLeft=A StrafeRight=D TurnLeft=Q TurnRight=E MoveUp=F MoveDown=Z RollLeft=SHIFT+A RollRight=SHIFT+D PitchLeft=SHIFT+W PitchRight=SHIFT+S Crouch=C Jump=SPACE Prone=X RunWalkToggle=BACK Run=SHIFT+W Hover=F Salute=; Wave=' FollowMe=SHIFT+; HoldPosition=SHIFT+' HolsterWeapon=0 Wristlaser=1 Scat1Pistol=2 Zs10CombatAssaultRifle=3 Bmp9SniperRifle=4 Hd4sgShotgun=5 Lr12RocketLauncher=6 SabreMlsSpaceAssaultRifle=7 GrenadeFrag=8 GrenadeSmoke=9 DIE=O TDU=P Medkit=M Toolkit=T DisplayInventory=[ DropCurrentWeapon=B BackpackTransfer=] ReloadWeapon=R WeaponMode=G [config] Effects=TRUE Music=FALSE SoundFXVolume=10 MusicVolume=10 Resolution=1280x1024 ScreenBitDepth=0 TextureBitDepth=0 DynamicLighting=TRUE Shadows=TRUE MipMapping=TRUE SpaceBackground=32 SpaceBackgroundHR=TRUE HardwareTL=TRUE DynamicStarsFX=TRUE HyperspaceFX=TRUE HyperJumpFX=TRUE CloakFX=TRUE GLobalFX=TRUE NonPlayerFX=TRUE DefaultRollYaw=TRUE ContrailFX=PARTICLE WeatherFX=TRUE WaterFX=TRUE PlanetaryClouds=TRUE BridgeCommsChatter=TRUE FlightPathTrails=TRUE FlightDynamics=0 Throttle=1 PrimaryHatMode=1 Controller=1 BCFEFontName=arial BCFEFontSize=8 BCFEFontFlags=0 BCKFontName1=microgbe BCKFontName2=arial [debug] Debug=0 [reserved] Gamma=2.0 Language=0 PlayerProfile=0 ExitOption=16384 [player] Name= Sex= Age=0 Race= Rank= Status= Caste= Career= SelfModel= AssetClass= AssetModel= AssetName= PrimaryLaunchBase= PrimaryLaunchZone= PrimaryLaunchScene= Assignment= ScenarioFile= DockLocation= StartRegion= Currentloc= Setnavpoint= Sethsdnavpoint= Fines=0 Warrants=0 Salary=0 Finances=0 Experience=0 [player_gear] GearWeight=0.0 PrimaryGear= SecondaryGear= Armor= Ammo= [ 08-16-2002, 02:20 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

quote: Originally posted by Fox__Trot: This is with rc 17 installed however I am sorry if this is not what/where you wanted it to be. I edited your post because it was too long. Anyway.... Some of those files are incorrect!! This file is not from RC17. Look at the date!!! 07/29/2002 10:08 AM 3,358,191 bcm.exe These files should not exist. The patch is designed to rename them. And going by the fact that the old and new (renamed) versions exist, this tells me you installed the patch incorrectly. You probably don't have admin rights to your XP system. I mean admin rights, not some user logged in as admin. 08/15/2002 10:30 PM 791 bcmsetup.ini 09/24/2001 10:00 AM 33,702 bcmsfx.ini 09/24/2001 10:00 AM 6,356 bcmxpl.ini Going from the above and the fact that the RC17 patch file itself is missing from that folder, you didn't install, nor patch correctly. Unless I'm missing something. The RC15 patch deletes and renames a LOT of files in different folders and most of yours are wrong (as with the examples above). Again. Unless you patch properly, you won't be able to run this patch (nor any future patch for that matter). In fact, send the bcmfiles.txt and all your INI files to [email protected] and I'll take a look at them again. [ 08-16-2002, 08:06 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Patch properly and you won't have a problem The RC15 patch deletes and renames some critical files. If you don't apply that patch problem, you're never going to get BCM to run. Period. If you know how, go to a console window in the folder where you have BCM installed and type dir /s > bcmfiles.txt. Then use Notepad to copy and paste the contents of the bcmfiles.txt file here. Make sure you post it within UBB code blocks so that it is readable. [ 08-15-2002, 10:24 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Machitis Oddly enough this has ALWAYS been the case. And what's even more startling is that this is not only displayed in bold Red letters on the downloads page, but also in the FAQ. No because that GPF is not caused by anything that is stored in a saved game. The VCF explains clearly what the problem was. You might want to read it. I just tried my above instructions on four machines - including one running a GF2 GTS board and it works just fine. And crying bug, without any verification, is a sure fine way to get your posting rights restricted. I don't have time for such nonsense. Check your system. And the fact that you're starting the game by clicking on the bcm.exe file, in itself is just foolish. While that should work, there is a reason that program shortcuts are created. Try adding the /d2 parameter to the shortcut and when it quits, check the resulting .log files (post them here if you want) for clues on what might be the cause. Have you ever run any of the 1.0.08 RC versions? If not, did you actually try running just RC15 prior to patching to RC17, before crying bug? A lot of people are running RC15 - including all the testers - and no such non-startup issue has been reported. [ 08-15-2002, 02:30 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Well, even with modern games, you have no business running ANY app in the background - most especially ICQ. If you really want to play your older games, booting from a DOS disk (a 10 second no brainer) shouldn't be such a big deal. You're obviously not so caught up about it or you wouldn't consider dropping out of win2k/xp to be a bother. heh If you put your freaky ICQ groupies above your need to play your DOS games, well then.

It works fine here. When in doubt, uninstall and start from scratch. The patch works fine, as far as I know. Uninstall BCM and DELETE the install folder Install BCM Apply 1.0.07 FULL patch Apply 1.0.08 RC15 update patch Apply 1.0.08 RC17 update patch The only way it won't work, is if the above process is borked. If you have an RC15 game in progress that you don't want to lose, save the contents of the SAVE folder and copy them back after you have completed the above procedure. Also, that report post button is for reporting offensive and problematic community posts. It is NOT for sending me emails about patches. One person used it to send a post about not being able to run the patch. Please STOP!!! [ 08-15-2002, 07:17 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
