uhm...what about the fact that you can't save anywhere you like. And if you screw up, you have to start from scratch?
  4. quote: Originally posted by Gavor: When i beamed down to the beached craft and hit /, i and the fighter both returned automatically to the CC. Wierd, but acceptable from my point of view . It was like the game got sick of my bumblings and just stuck us both back where we belonged so i wouldnt make a fool of myself anymore. Interesting story. But that sounds like a bug to me. When you press / you should enter the craft you are facing, automatically. And that craft happens to be FC-1. Can you reproduce this? If so, head over to the Misc Tech issues and post a report in the thread.
  5. Well that didn't last long now did it? Once money in involved, innovation takes the back seat.

A major leap, but I can't think of any reason why an nVidiot would want to switch, if they already have a GF4 Ti card.

Why don't you try it, instead of continuing the trend of litering the thread? [ 08-28-2002, 07:11 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Thats because most of them are fp gamers who have no idea how to use a plane, much less land one. Even though the controls are arcadish, they still have problems. Landing a plane is trivial. Go slow, reduce speed, cut throttle at the end of the strip and hit the E3 when the wheels touch down. I do it all the time.
  9. It works fine. In BCM, when you do a manual treat, the person is treated at a rate of 5% per update - not instantaneously like in BC3K. I just checked the manual p:43 and I didn't put this in there, so I will add it to the VCF. It does however appear in the Beta VCF (from which I derived the notes when I was doing the BCM manual). Look in the v2.2.03 section. Here is what the entry says about this. You might want to do a search in this file for the word medibay to see any and all changes between BC3K and BCM. Personnel being treated in Medibay will now heal at the rate of 5 units per AI tick, instead of instantly. Anyway, a screen refresh update (similar to the other Frontend areas) has now been added to the Medibay screen. I have updated the VCF with more info on this. 12. OK, will look into it.
  13. You see, thats the problem with MMOG games. It all boils down to a treadmill (nice algo there btw ) When you are playing an mp game in which your stats aren't saved i.e. you only get to play for a few hours...and come back another day, its different. But when you have an MMOG where it gets to be repetive, it takes a special kind of person to keep playing it. The problem with space games is that there isn't much of a variety outside of destroying things or trading. Think about it, there's really not much else you can do in a space game, is there? Hence the reason I keep dreaming up more and more ludicrous things to put into the BC games in order to provide a variety. It truly is a tough call, but only the folks burning millions of dollars on games like this, don't know that. It all boils down to design really.

  15. Who care's about your six foot Bass? I'm talking about all the contagious virii our little ones are prone to catch at school, bring it home, and infect everyone. I've caught almost everything this year from my little one. Lately, I had a bout of the common cold and some serious bouts of coughing. I was coughing so hard the other day, I think I dislodged something in my chest. We take vitamins around here like it was a religion. And this includes serious doses of pure Vitamin C (Solarar brand with Echinacea) - enough to stun an elephant (oh wait, I must be thinking about crack. Never mind). Anyway, what have you caught lately?
  16. Since I can't be bothered, I'm just going to refer you to Blerm's post.
  17. Nabbed this off the web. I already knew that they weren't going to do an in-space module. Contrary to what most thing, it is not easy to create a seamless space/planet world - and especially one with multiplayer - and - MMOG at that. Anyway, dunno why this lack of in-space arena is news, but here it is quote: What is going on over at Sony Online? The Sony owned development group called Verant continues to have problems with their upcoming line-up of massively multiplayer games. We've heard the news that Star Wars Galaxies has been delayed until February 2003 and that the initial game won't ship with any of the in-space features, so no flying around in your fancy X-Wing fighters. However, a source very close to SWG has said there's no way the game will even be releasing before the summer of 2003, and most likely not until the September/October 2003 timeframe. Ouch! Quite a delay there. Along those lines, Verant has said almost nothing about their massively-multiplayer real-time strategy game Sovereign. The baby of Brad McQuaid and John Smedley, this game disappeared off the radar following a very poor showing at E3 in 2000. Verant insists it's not dead yet, but much like the Black Knight, it appears to be suffering from quite a bit more than simply a flesh wound. Look for this one to be DOA, if it ever A's. And what of the massively-multiplayer 10-Six rip-off Planetside? That sucker is still delayed with a release date that continues to be pushed back. Good thing Verant has that cash cow EverQuest to continue to pour money into their coffers, otherwise they'd have been closed down long ago and Smedley would be out on his ass. Too bad EQ's success couldn't save McQuaid, who has managed to sweet talk Microsoft into a publishing deal for his next massively-multiplayer game. Anyone in the Beta for this one? 18. heh, nabbed this off the web quote: Beta testers for the upcoming massively-multiplayer space game from Westwood Studios, Earth and Beyond, seem to be done with the game. In a game where levelling is quite easy, there is no player vs. player combat, and lacking completely in any unique qualities, the game that's been in development for over 4 years is said to be dead before it's even released. Testers have been reportedly quitting in droves, with EA/Westwood even offering them the ability to bring their beta test characters over into the official release version, once it hits stores. A sign of desperation? You decide. But with competitors Star Wars Galaxies and EVE: The Second Genesis looming on the horizon, the future does not bode well for Earth and Beyond.

I've been busy with mp and also I've been a tad under the weather. My daughter catches everything at school. And soon enough, we all catch it. This time, it must have been the umpteenth time I've got a cold from her. To the extent that I'm considering sending to school in an armor suit. quote: and lastly all that only took an hour? Yep. Its not like I was timing it or anything, but before I started, I made a mental note that I had a phone meeting (with a distributor) in an hour. And I finished just before the call came.

Whether or not it is a different kind of balance, is irrelevant. It was done for a reason, otherwise I wouldnt' have done it, would I? Yes, I DO more than you. I designed it. Input those values. Tweaked it over several months. And I don't plan on changing it.
  23. It is perfectly normal for it to go negative. You have to work to raise it. He was obviously doing badly e.g. allowing ships to get destroyed in his PZ, destroying friendlies etc etc. All circumstances under which you would lose EPs. [ 08-26-2002, 08:04 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
