  2. quote: Originally posted by Kartoffel: Step outside. Do you get radiation poisioning after 30 minutes exposure? It just seems rather silly. Yes, indeed, since you don't have an explanation, it would sound silly, won't it? Its not silly. If you don't think that in 3010AD Earth would be subject to radiation (considering whats going on today in 2002AD), then you don't know squat. Siddown!

I paid good money for this game, and it should damn well work without me spending hours programming the thing myself. Isn't that what I pay you people for when I buy for the disc!? "Hey, here's an idea...we can double our profit by passing half the work onto our customers!!" Damn, no wonder PC Gamer rated BC 3000 as a 15...OUT OF 100!!!! Too bad I didn't see that till AFTER I bought Millenium... Comparing BC3K (1996) to BCM (2001) is the kind of display of wanton stupidity which will always land you in trouble. And unless you actually get smart and read the resources available to you, will never be able to configure your system correctly; let alone run the game. POSTING PRIVILEDGES REVOKED INDEFINITELY - PROBABLY FOREVER. Have a nice day! [ 06-07-2002, 11:05: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

  7. quote: Originally posted by Tac: JJ, I would sincerely doubt the competence of ANY military commander that sends his pilots into hot zones with such armaments because "we need to clear the warehouse of old stuff". Fact still remains only 1 F16 squadron had the gear to drop "smart" bombs, and they had to do with what they had. I believe there was a rush to upgrade the remaining F16 (and A-10s) after the Gulf War. Believe it or not, thats what happened and JJ is right. The Pentagon figured that Iraq would be a pushover (it was, heh) and so the ends, to them, justified the means.
  8. It means that there is a cloaked ship in the vicinity and your officer has higher enough AI (be thankful for that) to detect it.
  9. ..or wait for the next patch (assuming you've actually been reading the VCF updates)
  10. quote: Originally posted by Sebbit: Hello everyone. Does the new friction model mean grenades won't slide along the terrain constantly until exploding? Has nothing to do with grenades. Did you see grenades mentioned in that update? The grenades work fine and are not subject to change. Siddown!

  12. ...getting closer. VCF updated
  13. Now that didn't take long, did it?
  14. Absolutely hilarious. Though I still think that National Lampoon's Van Wilder still holds my record for being the funniest film so far this year. 9/10
  15. I saw it. It is an OK thriller which could've been better. But it still went to #1 on opening weekend. Go figure. 7/10
  16. The BC suite of titles stopped being about trading when BCM was released. There are other titles which fit that bill quite nicely e.g. the upcoming (at least they're threatening to release it), X2, Trade Wars, Freelancer. The trading in BCM is in there as a peripheral feature (like launching a probe for e.g.) in order to support the non-hostile castes which rely on it (e.g. traders). It is not the primary focus of the game and won't change in BCG. Because an economic system drives the very backbone of any MMOG, the trading model in BCO is a complete re-write but is no way geared toward anything stupidly ambitious (and distracting) as what you are suggesting. 18. pah! back when I started out, if you had a 300 bps modem, you were it. In fact, I think I still have one of my 1200/2400 bps Hayes Smartmodems lying in a box around here somewhere. ...ah, those were the days...when most of the jackass idiots never could get online (...let alone get a date). 19. I have an 8500DV in one machine and Andrei has an 8500 in one of his (I sent him my 8500 when I got the DV variant). I also have a 7500 (an inferior card) in another machine.
  20. quote: Originally posted by Unforgiven_Killer: IBut my sound card is on board and I have no idea what its called. That could be the problem. Try disabling sound+music in CONFIG and see if that helps. If it does, there's your problem. In which case, you need to read the sound section in the troubleshooting FAQ.
  21. no, he's on crack or some other manner of controlled substance.
  22. If there is such a problem, what I want to know is Why were the posts not deleted? Wtf are the mods doing? I don't have time to go through those threads - but if I come back this weekend and its not cleaned up, I'm going to delete the entire threads and ban everyone (regardless of tenure) involved in conduct unbecoming of this site. This is not the Usenet!!! [ 05-31-2002, 07:43: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  23. Yeah, yeah OK. I'll release it a few days after the patch.

What you should do is deploy marines into the middle of the base (I am assuming that you have the script update mentioned in the VCF) before starting an air assault. Usually, they end up blowing up the pads that launch fighters, as well as the sals and sams.
