Cool stuff. Extraction is pretty cool because you see these marines all run at break neck speed trying to catch the shuttle before it dusts off. If you are running with them, you should also hear the leader yelling follow me (one of the related voice fx in the soundfxmarines.zip). [ 05-08-2002, 17:07: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

He will let you know where to buy cool stuff, go to the back door of the trader in town, trade in all your expensive swiped silverware, buy yourself a set of steel armor, and a sword, go to the peasants huts, rob them blind and beat them up (hehe), and then take what money you have left to purchase a fare to balmora on the giant bug thing. Scary moments can be found by searching in tombs... heh, thats nothing. Me, when I started the game, left the boat and entered the custom area. As soon as I got my walking papers, I proceeded to steal everything that was'nt nailed down to the floorboards. By the time I was done, there wasn't a single thing left in that building. heh, then I decided to pick that large chest in the front room and got a stern warning. As I walked off to the back and subsequently out of the building into the wild Blue yonder, I looked at my character in the external camera view and then it hit me ===> where ^&*$(*(@!@ was all this stuff I'd nicked? Expecting to see a large sack hanging over my shoulder; I was a tad disappointed to see just my skinny ass (complete with bald noggin). At that point, I figured I must've stashed everything in my knickers. Yes, my character is a custom thief and so far, I've pretty much stolen enough stuff to build a small town. And haven't been caught once (though I got chased once). By the time I'm done, there ain't gonna be a single thing of value in sight. I didn't give the ring to anyone though. Maybe I should have. hmmmm

quote: Originally posted by Soback: Of course getting the multiplayer into this game is difficult, I never said it was easy, but it certainly can be done. Redo the inventory so that the game doesn't pause during MP when you access it, and redo whatever else needs to be changed to play in MP. Its not that simple. quote: Look at Derek, he is redoing many aspects of BCM in order for it to work in MP. No I'm not. BCM was designed to have mp from day one. I just didn't have time to do it right, due to the sheer size and scope of the game, coupled with the many, many ways that someone could find a loophole and kill gameplay. Hell, I found and plugged enough holes in sp. There is a difference between throwing in multiplayer and putting in multiplayer. The former is what you get when mp doesn't do much for the game to begin with, so wasting time doing proper mp is low priority. Which is why most games which are not properly designed for mp, have mp that sucks. quote: It's like having 2 modes of play, one SP, one MP, it's not easy, but it can be done, so they just didn't want to put the time into it, what should be done is at least have the MP released later on in a patch, but saying that it would detract from SP is not only plain out lying it's stupid.None of the Elderscolls, IIRC, have had mp. In a game like this, you have to design it to have mp from the start. To improve performance, backup the morrowind.ini file and then look for these settings and change them to the following. The first setting changes the lighting from linear to quadratic. The second setting enables more shadows. UseLinear=0 LinearMethod=1 LinearValue=3.0 LinearRadiusMult=1.0 ; UseQuadratic=1 QuadraticMethod=2 QuadraticValue=16.0 QuadraticRadiusMult=4.0 If you have a good system, you can enable more shadows Number of Shadows=32 Maximum Shadows Per Object=4

Your posting rights have been revoked indefinitely. Count yourself lucky that I didn't delete the profile and ban you for life. OK. I have reproduced this one. Would it have killed you to just been a LOT more clear in ONE post? You know, the edit function works. Normally, here is how this would have been reported (which makes all the difference when I'm pressed for time). Take notes. at a station 1- buy 10 OTS 2- load em into your cargo pod 3- buy another 10 OTS *repeat till you have like 100 in your pod* launch 4- go to the cargo screen in logistix, select the type of OTS you have loaded in the pod, making sure the amount of space used by the weapons contained in the cargo pod is more than your weapon bay can hold if the weapons in the cargo pod were transfered to the weapons bay 5- click cancel the contents of the pod magically disappear because the total amount of space used by the 100 OTS missiles contained in the pod will exceed the free space in weapons pod 2 where the OTS missiles are. At which point, the pod space will reset to 500 (from 400) because the missiles have now been deleted [ 05-04-2002, 13:19: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Star Trek: Bridge Commander (Full Version)
Supreme Cmdr replied to Scrivener's topic in General Chatter
So much for that(publishers never learn, do they?). I just saw this over at the local industry watering hole. quote: Here's a hot news flash... Activision has turned down Bridge Commander 2, and supposedly they plan to dump the Star Trek license as soon as they can, because it has proven unprofitable. You've got to wonder what Activision is thinking when they decide to pass on a sequel to Bridge Commander, a game that has been proclaimed "the best Star Trek game ever created" by many reviews and fans. From what I hear, Starfleet Command 3, and already announce project by Activision, is going to try and clone elements of Bridge Commander... Here is part of an e-mail that Peter Leahy, Totally Games' Senior Manager, sent out regarding the bad news... -----Original Message----- From: Peter Leahy Sent: Tuesday, April 23, 2002 3:56 PM To: Staff Subject: Bummer - Activision News Hey guys! We heard today they have officially passed on all the options we have offered them as far as BC 1.5 and BC 2.0. It is simply a matter of dollars and cents. Unfortunately, unless we all move to Eastern Europe we can't reduce our overhead enough to make their P&L (Profit and Loss Risk Assessment) work for them. It appears garage operations -- i.e. no overhead like rent, passionate teams of individuals doing the work of three at the pay of less than one person, using pirated software, paying no royalties, providing no benefits and no long term commitments is where the industry is headed. Pretty depressing, huh? So what does this mean for Totally Games? Well, many employees, like myself, have just been laid off, and our last day is today. In all, nearly half the company has been laid off. The heads of the Art and Programming departments have both resigned in order to save as many programmer and artist jobs as possible. At least Totally Games was very nice about it. I got a fat consolation check, and I get to take home the computer I used at work, which is good because my home computer is a piece of junk. Even so, I am very depressed. I've been in the industry several years and I have never known a better game company, nor a more talented group of developers than Totally Games. I was proud to count myself among the ranks of the elite... Luckily, the World War II flight combat game that remains is well-funded, on track, and is going to rock the industry when it comes out. At least one game publisher, LucasArts, treats Totally Games with the respect they deserve. I'm sure Activision will get theirs in the end. They have treated developers like crap for years, and it is going to catch up with them soon when their Tony Hawk cash cow dries up. [ 05-04-2002, 10:54: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ] -

You just keep going downhill, don't you? Starbases are filtered differently - just the same way certain units are only visible in the Tacscan; certain units are only visible in the NID. And unless the unit is selected in the NID or Tacscan, you won't be able to view it in the CVD. And if you cannot view it in the CVD, you can't dock. Lemme guess, your version of BCM is different from ours. Yeah, that must be it. quote: and I ain't freakin' stupid!!There's a thin Red line between stupidity and ignorance. Take your pick. This movie puts the cool in cool. Damn fine job and the stunts, visual effects etc, are all top-notch. The actor who players crotchety ol' Jamie Jameson (dunno his name; but he's that bald psycho from HBO's prison drama) got that part down to the letter. Each time he came on screen, it was just a scream. Frigging hilarious - haircut and all. 10/10 Gonna go see it again this weekend I can't wait for Daredevil!!! Also got to see the teaser for Hulk. Eric Bana (the Delta Force specialOps guy from Blackhawk Down) is Dr. Bruce Banner. Eric's kinda smooth and should do a good job. I hope.

What asset are you using? You do realize that assets have different cargo bay storage space, right? quote: making sure the amount of space used is more then your weapon bay can hold)What does this mean? How are you determining this? [ 05-03-2002, 13:13: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Real soon now. VCF updated. Once this all important (and final major patch) patch is out, the next patch will be the long awaited and much anticipated mp patch. We're going to be using ASE for server browsing in this free mp patch. So, go learn how to use it. There may or may not be support for GSA; but I doubt that many BC users (the power gamers that they are) care about GSA. The next BC title will have its own in-game server browser and support for other nifty features. For voice chat, Roger Wilco, Team Sound and MS Gamevoice all seem to work just fine - especially if they are run on dedicated servers.

Doesn't this preview just make you wanna sign-up and go play?
