nah, it just needed explaining. And you're not the only person who found it odd.

Major repair issues needed!!

If you happen to fight another AI carrier and disable it so that it is disable or emitting an sos distroy its computer system if you know where to fire on it. Maybe youll be lucky and it will already be distroyed. Then Tow it. Issue a halt order in tow mode. Then go watch tv for half and hour or have dinner or what have you and then check its systems. If its able to repair without a computer then you'll know that issue exist's. Great minds work together. Rubbish -

The next fool who creates a topic and sticks my handle in it is getting banned. Thats that. -

This is to solve any confusion in problem 1) I posted. Nothing to do with BCM. You might want to uninstall, re-install, download the 1002 patch and start from scratch. If EVER the game exits with an error, you can't restart etc, it is ALWAYS a driver issue.

quote: Originally posted by $iLk: Space Marines "running" in space, i.e. they aren't using rocket packs, they are just running around like they are on solid ground, kind of funny to watch, but I don't think they are supposed to do that. I was able to take one screenshot, but it isn't a very good one.I am using latest patch, etc. They were flying, until I came up and blasted the hell out of one with my IOD. He died and others started scrambling around running away, literally playing the run animation and I watched them, it was like they were on solid ground running around fighting each other. i.e. they were stuck in a 2d area running, couldn't go up or down cause it was like they were on the ground. Also, I can't do anything when I exit my ship in FP in space, I checked and don't have on a jetpack, but I think I remember reading something about that. Lemme guess. You forgot to save the game.

I got this from James 'Jaguar' Allen For the 30-40 hours I played the game over Thanksgiving Break, I came to my own opinion as to the game. I personally did not see any dynamic traffic (which seems to be most of the complaints on the thread) during the time that I played, other than 3 or 4 other military ships, so I stand by my conclusion. As for lowering the score, that was done by my editor. The fact was that I originally put a 3/5 overall score for the game, and my editor incorrectly changed the score to 4/5. I only noticed this days after the review was posted (I just posted the link to the review; I assumed that everything was OK), so he agreed to go back and correct it. I'm sorry that I neglected to mention that to you, and that was unprofessional of me. As for being a "script kiddie," I'm actually a 22 year old Masters student in Geophysics with a B.S. in Geology and a minor in Mathematics. I'm not sure that really means anything The bottom line is that BCM is for some people, and I just didn't like it as much as you or anyone else on your message board. That's the point of a review, for a game reviewer to offer their own opinions on the game, while striving to be as subjective as possible. You are free to do whatever you want on your boards and your mailing lists. If you'd like to post this response (or cut and paste it so that I look like a moron) you are free to do so. I'm sorry that I didn't fulfill your expectations of mindlessly giving the game a 5/5 and be on my way. And this from John 'Storm' Shahbazian Dear Sir, I am sorry that you feel this way about Mr. Allen and our site. However, I must state that his review is an opinion. He relates his opinion on *his* playing experience. If he so chooses to alter a score for whatever reason, that is his right, as this is a work of opinion. He does not need to inform anyone other than myself, who will actually change the HTML, about his alterations. I believe it would not be good for journalism if reviewers had to OK scores for games with the people that made those games. As for the amount of time playing the game, I personally know he put a good amount of time into it. Very few people have weeks or months to put into a game, but I know he tried his best. If his playing experience was different than many others, so be it. You are more than welcome to share your opinion about his review on your soapbox. I fully believe in free speech. You are also more than welcome to remove us from your contact list. However, as you do these things, please keep in mind the degree of professionalism that you expect of others. I would like to keep these discussions private. If you have any more questions or comments, please feel free to email myself or James. John Shahbazian GameGenie.com P.S. The typo on the name of the game was a mistake that I missed, and I apologize. I have corrected it within the review. I'm not even going to bother replying to either one of them. So, draw your own conclusions.

quote: Originally posted by Barron Morris: Aye SC, I have the bloomin problem me self. Asus 7700 G Force2 GTS pure 2311 drivers sir. Am on it. In fact, in a flurry of email exchanges with Cem (my dev support advisor over at nVidia) he says Hmmm...this certainly looks like it should work (the code looks correct). I'll investigate this and get back to you. Then I tried something which bypasses the driver setting and told him that it worked but thats not how it should be. Then he said Well, it may have been relying on a default of some sort that's now different in the driver. Or, more likely, current drivers may be more aggressive with disabling alpha blending if it's not explicitly on or wasn't used recently or some such weird case (since it costs performance). Should never be sacrificing correctness, of course. No way to know for sure, really. Anyway, I will wait for more info from them so that I don't have to use the method I just hacked. It used to work just fine, then it stopped working. And I haven't touched that piece of rendering code for almost eight months. btw, the SFM is using the wrong jetpack model. He seems to be using the planetary jetpack3 model used by the commander when on the planet. Thats why the offset is wrong and it appears incorrectly rendered. Nothing major, but its fixed now. If they are not, then the card driver's alpha blending is screwed. Nothing I can do about it. On my GF3 with the 2311 drivers, I get the same problem. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone using other GF cards and drivers have this problem, so that I can report it to nVidia. I will look into it tomorrow and see if I can come up with something that works. [ 12-14-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

I hope they take him alive and put him on trial. Killing him would be too easy and is exactly what he wants. Those who are screaming about the costs of a trial, need to take their heads out of the asses and see just much money the war has cost us already. So a trial would be a piss in the wind in comparison to the current war expenditure ($300 billion and climbing according to CNN). [ 12-14-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

The larger the target, the louder the explosion. All sounds are distance cued in 3D space.

quote: Originally posted by Menchise: SC, there have been some changes to the BCM review at Game Genie. The rating is now 3/5. So I noticed. I've contacted him and waiting for his response. Thats what happens when every script kiddie has access to a website. It is quite obvious that he didn't even play the game to any great extent. He got the NAME of the game wrong, fer crissakes.
