  2. quote: Originally posted by Gomez: BCO, I would guess that artifacts will be highly out of reach for most people (i.e. expensive as all hell). This is simply because, if they aren't, everyone will have them. And what's the point of all that additional info about mid-grade upgrades, if every joe has artifacts? Of course, it may also be that there are a limited number of artifacts in the universe. Thus, price may be low, but 1 celestial orb, means that only ONE player gets it....We shall see... BCO will have dozens of artifacts with various levels of operation. And yes, an in BCM, you can't use some of them. Though you can buy and trade them as normal.
  3. quote: Originally posted by EAGLE: But Phased IOD starts wroking when i stick it in caro bay. even tho i should have RE at AI 85. And i dont have RE. there is a conflict between what docs say and what game does. [/QB] As previously indicated, systems which are artifact upgrades have relaxed rules. They just work, regardless of RE AI. Perhaps when the code was changed, the appendix wasn't updated. Neverthless, what I said still stands. And you are reading the wrong page. You should be reading the artifacts.html file (which is correct and accurate). I will edit the crew page and remove any inconsistencies. [ 12-02-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  4. In the final 1.0.02 patch I will see if I can relax the deployment rules and prevent the shuttle from doing any deployment above 2ft. However, this MAY cause other problems in which, it may never, ever deploy any thing if you put the waypoint on a slope etc.
  5. I have a Saitek Cyborg Gold as my primary stick.

Go to Jupiter or Saturn and there are more moons within close proximity of each other. Some are with the BVR limits. for e.g * excluded from rendering pass ** Beyond Visual Range
  7. quote: Originally posted by G E C K O: I know you're not going to release the manual because there aren't enough people without a copy by now. But that's not the point. If you just jump in a thread, say what you feel like without even looking at it, then sorry, but thats just idiotic. I wasn't talking about the SC, about whateverhisnameis. Ah well. nevermind. Love and kisses. Goodbye
  8. quote: Originally posted by Epsilon 5: Erm... a question... if you can know where the intruders are (using perscan)... why can't the marine use that system too...? or get directions by the combat officer who probably have access to that system? (dispatcher anyone?) Yeah, if only everything was as simple. You don't even know how Perscan (let alone Tactical) works, so I don't have a clue where you got the idea from that the info is the same. Damn non-programmers. Always think they have the answer to everything. Just play the damn game and let me worry about the design and programming.

  10. quote: Originally posted by Steve Conley: So .... while my crew scambles for the medibay and the galley (? To get a last snack?! Seriously, about 75% of the crew went ot the galley, and the rest went to the medibay), Steve In such conditions as you describe, they will go wherever the life support system is working. So, if the one that covers the galley is working, thats where they'll go.
  11. quote: Originally posted by Kadil Ram: I'm trying to update my profile and whatnot, but I can't for the life of me find my serial number. It's not on the little container that the CD was in - where is it? What container? BCM comes in a Tyvex sleeve. The sticker that closes the flap, contains your serial number.
  12. 1. Read the docs 2. Rubbish 3. No 4. The appendix is correct. If you really want to know (instead of asking someone else), load up the model in BCS and go to the tag list and count 'em. There's 8 [ 12-02-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  13. No. I believe that you can only order a new CDROM. Info should be on that same driver page, cuz I've seen it there.
  14. quote: Originally posted by Simparadox: Alright, I think I've found what possibly maybe might be a bug. Just to get a few things out of the way...So any idea what's going on? Is this some sort of odd "feature" I'm unaware of? A known problem? Any help would be appreciated, because it really causes a problem when I'm caught in a fight near a moon. It is a driver issue and not a bug in BCM
  15. I have uploaded 1.0.02 RC3 Remember, this is NOT the final 1.0.02 patch and you use at your own risk. Also, if you have new problem (one that is not already reported*) and it relates to a crash. The best way to obtain some sort of error, is to run BCM in a window** (-w1) and hope that it happens again. You can also add -d2 to the commandline. This will output debug data to several .log files which may prove to be useful. *If its not in the VCF (at the bottom of the file), then its either (a) not reported or ( is not an issue under investigation or a false alarm. **While you can run BCM in a window, it is NOT supported and is only for debugging purposes. 16. quote: Originally posted by Sunanta: Yep, I've also been getting random crashes that I can't seem to reproduce (except in saves), once when a stormcarrier was hyperjumping towards my megaron, another when a bcmk2 was hyperjumping to my megaron (different game), and at various other times- being attacked by a fighter in a megaron again, destroying another stormcarrier, etc. I've been going over the stability section of the troubleshooting faq, seems to help a bit, but anyway, there seems to be a collision detect issue. When I fly up in front of a station's path and stop moving (speed = 0), the station will pass through my ship instead of triggering a collision. I've so far tried this in a Megaron, bcmk3, and in first person outside that bcmk3- I'd stop right in front of the station and it would drift right through me. Only seems to happen with stations (since I started looking, it's happened with every station I'd test this with- Galcom HQ, Pixan, Sygan, Wraith), though. I tried to stop in front of those orbiting supply stations but when it hit me it triggered such a collision that I ended up in null space . This is with the 1.0.01 patch.[ 12-02-2001: Message edited by: Sunanta ] It is a simple rule really (when you think about it). ANY number of things can cause random lockups - most of which don't necessarily point to the game. If the game was responsible for every random lock, there'd be more people reporting it. I am NOT and NEVER have been interested in solving every person's OS quirks. I don't care. I'm not interested. All I know is, if the game has a bug and which can be reproduced, I will fix it (as I have been doing). The VCF contains such instances. So, telling me you get a crash because you jump from A to B, when everyone playing the game has been jumping all over the place, has a much effect (to me that is) as strapping a firecracker on a lab rat and asking it to fly. I am NOT interested in random issues, so, unless you want such posts to be deleted, don't waste your time posting it. When a myriad of hardware components are combined, ANY number of things can be happening in the background. If the game is unstable on your system, either take steps to isolate the problem (whatever you do, don't post about it here - because I don't care, unless it can be reproduced or it was resolved by you and the solution is useful info to others) or take it back to EB. This board is and has always been clutter free and I'd like to keep it that way. Thats it. Any time I set eyes on one of these, it will be deleted. If anyone insists, you will be banned from posting. I hope this is call clear.

  18. quote: Originally posted by Eihort: That's very odd... what do you mean I haven't registered? I could have sworn I did because I had to fill out the registration thing AND register for the forums! Well, don't delete my profile or do really nasty things if you see two identical serial numbers being registered. I'll give things another go.Ok... I just tried to register and it says my serial number is invalid, which means I guess I did register and just how do I go about "posting" my profile? Are you talking my system specs? I don't see your System Profile Info in your sig

  22. quote: Originally posted by Eihort: Well, that's it... I surrender for now. I'm going to go and put this thing on the shelf until I get my new PC in a few months and hopefully things will work by then or this thing goes to my friend. I installed the old drivers and it still does the ol no-start pre and post patch. I give up. I've done everything. Defrag, scandisk, virus check. Uninstalled, killed folder, reinstalled, repatched from directory. I give up. Wish me luck on the new PC. What makes you think its your system? Since you haven't registered and posted your profile, I can't help.
  23. Run, don't walk. Go see it. And whatever you do, do NOT miss the beginning!!!
  24. Start a new 1.0.02 game and see if you have the same problem. If the saved game is corrupt, there's nothing that I can do about it.
