The target is not stupid you know. Think an NPC is just going sit around waiting for an inbound? FATAL is a delivery system and has NO effect on the missile characteristics.

Battlecruiser Millennium needs a delete confirmation.

They're talking about a delete prompt in the restore/new game screen. This will be in the final 1.0.02 release. -
quote: Originally posted by Mitchell: It's is also interesting that you noted the damage was concentrated on one deck/area - this is consistent with the earlier versions of BC and with what the SC has been telling us. I'd like to figure out some way of battling these guys tactically, especially once you know where they are concentrated, by ordering marines to specific locations on the ship. Any ideas? I might finally add that option to XP1. This way, you can send marines to search a particular deck. It requires a major code change and thats why I never even considered tackling it. Ack!

quote: Originally posted by Soback: LOL, I was really surprised when I found a whole lot of my cargo in the shuttles after the intruders were "taken care of". Never thought they would be that smart as to not only try to steal a shuttle but also take the cargo. They steal all shorts of crap. In fact, we had a hilarious laugh session in the Beta program where we were trying to imagine how a particular group of intruders managed to steal and lug an entire engine from the cargo bay and into a shuttle. LOL!!! I don't mind them stealing stuff because you can always nab them if you're quick. Its when then start damaging stuff (or planting explosives in the cargo bay), thats really annoying and a righteous PITA. Since you can't hear any internal explosions, the first hint of trouble is when stuff starts getting damaged.....and you're not in combat. In XP1, they will have the ability to beam right off the ship btw, so, that launch control shutdown trick is not going to be very effective. But the consolation is that only the really smart ones (heh) will be able to do this.

quote: Originally posted by R_wilco: I thought I remembered reading something in the faq about un-checking an option in the video card settings that says,"Adjust Z-buffer if depth unequal" or something similar. I un-checked that in my Nvidia card settings, but now, whenever I click "system" in the config menu, the game freezes and I have to restart my comp! It still does that even AFTER I re-checked "Adjust Z-Buffer if depth unequal". After I post this, I may re-install BCM to see if that helps. 1. Read the FAQ again. S_L_O_W_L_Y this time 2. I don't know what driver you are using, but as far as I'm aware, nVidia have removed that option from their newer drivers

quote: Originally posted by Roberto: SC, I looked to see if anyone else had this problem, but I didnt see this mentioned before so I figured I would mention it here. Its nothing critical, but, I noticed that if you leave your FCs running around in space untill their charge runs out, they are still able to fly! I was doing some planet ops, and forgot all about them being left in space, so I flew up to see what was going on, and realised they had no charge left. Anyway, I selected return to base, and they fired up their engines, and flew back to me!! First they hyperjumped to my location, then they flew the rest of the way to me. I know that if they run out of charge, they shouldnt be moving. Just some thing for you to look at when you get bored. They have auxiliary power cells

quote: Originally posted by Urza: I just noticed something. If you exit your CC in FP mode, then re-enter it, your fuel levels (radine, plutonium, iridium) will be reset to the default loadout. The only thing I'm not sure about is wether it happens on leaving the ship or re-entering it. Yeah right. And while you're at, can you be a little more cryptic. I just love brain teasers.

quote: Originally posted by Tac: Help! My pilots are morons and can't get up! Guess no more missiles for them OR the CC until they learn more. I wasted a million creds on missiles..and those bozos fired them all off. I hate them very much. *pant* I feel better now. NEXT! Tac, Tac, Tac simply remove all missiles from the FCs when you launch. Your pilots will be forced to use guns. Get used to it, and forget what missiles are. Once their AI is up, start arming their fighters again. At a higher enough level, they will use missiles sparingly and only when they have a very high probability of a hit and if they are in grave danger. You know, those skill attributes aren't there for show...though the pilots would like to think so. [ 11-29-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

And yes, turning off launch control is a must. In fact, I usually have my launch control turned off unless I'm actually launching something (at least on my non-carrier ships :-) ). In fact ... it seems to me once your intruders go onto your shuttles to escape, they stay in there rather than attempt further mayhem, so long as your launch control is off. I usually let them stay there and beeline for a station, especially if my marines are hurt :-D Sorry if all this is documented/said elsewhere! :-) Steve Conley I guess you haven't come across a situation where you have intruders and marines jammed in a shuttle huh? There was time (during the Beta) where intruders would go into FCs, close the hatch and refuse to come out. You just had to picture the marines standing there, guns drawn, threatening to blow a hole in the FC. Of course they won't do that, so the only option was to power up launch control, let the b*stards take off with the craft, then blow it up:

quote: Originally posted by crivens: Doesn't happen in debug mode? Unitialized variable I say! Thats what I thought at first, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The fact that it only seems to happen when you view an object with said damageFX in the F10 view, in order to get that target's particle fx stuff in your view, tells me that its related to the world/view pos not being cleared. But I've got checks for that, so I don't see how it could possibly be happening. oh well, the life of a developer. Andrei and I are on it, and hopefully one of us will find out wtf is going darn soon. [ 11-29-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

quote: Originally posted by SmileyMan: I was so nearly disillusioned, but the problem was not the game, it was me. Once I started to believe, it all flowed so naturally. What a fantastic game. There simply is no other experience like it on a computer. All the best, SC. Smiley Well, glad you stuck with it. And believe me when I tell you this, given time, BCM would have been at least 25% better than it currently is (mp aside) in terms of features. Is it hard to imagine that I couldn't possibly chuck anything else in it and made it better? Just wait for the XP add-ons and you'll see.

It sounds like you've got the makings of a good commander. I would be glad to have you in Prime fleet serving alongside me. I have to agree ....and as if on cue, here comes the recruiting machine.

OK, I'll add it to the very bottom of the pile - right down there with Tac's request for 3D dice for his BridgeViewer. That was back in '97. -
quote: Originally posted by G E C K O: Er, SC, I'd like an online manual, just because I didn't have a chance to buy the game yet.Warez? Where? I even checked sites and such, no warez in sight. Either people don't play it a lot, or you did a good protection job. I'm betting on the latter. (Note: rethorical warez question.) EDIT: Yes I know that sites don't guarantee "good" warez, but if its not even mentioned on a site, then it's sure as hell not going to be on some skanky FTP. [ 11-29-2001: Message edited by: G E C K O ] And if you don't own the game yet, why do you need a manual. Anyway, its not happening. So siddown.

quote: Originally posted by Badgerius: This just occured to me. It would be fun to land on a planet, evacuate the ship using the transporter, and shutdown launch control, and primary and secondary life support. Watch 'em suffocate. Yep. You can do that. Just make sure none of your crew are on the ship. You can then keeping hopping into your craft, checking their stats, exiting again etc. After about 30 mins, they should all be quite dead. ....unless of course they find a way to rig a life support system. In which case, they'd be around longer.

Wasn't there another thread dealing with this very subject? Why'd you create a new topic?

quote: Originally posted by Gomez: This is from a fresh install of BCM and a fairly recent install of WinME. HD is optimized and I have pleanty of swapspace. I'd be glad to give other info, if needed... Install the 1.0.01 patch. This issue was already fixed as it is related to the supply stations not having a target to orbit. And its nothing to do with that station I don't think. Try destroying any other station.
