I also noted the presence of the new auxiliary charger on Deck 4 of my transport. However for some reason my shuttlecrafts still do not appear to be getting recharged. It should work. What makes you think it doesn't? The aux charger is used for charging OC and SC crafts only. The amount of charge depends on the current state of the charger. Just like the VCF says. If the charger condition is 50, then the craft will only be charged to 50%
  2. quote: Originally posted by Stroman: ahhh... No need to worry about having the station blown to bits while getting repairs from said station? That, and a bunch of other nasties. It had the potential of opening a massive can of worms I didn't want to deal with (though I have no choice but to face them in the mp patch). So I opted not to touch it. If the recent post-Gold fixes and tweaks aren't an indication of just how massive this game is and how easy it is to miss stuff, I dunno what is. *shudder* quote: Just to clarify then, you could get in a dogfight with another vessel, dock at a nearby station for repairs, exit station and attack the same vessel which will still be at the same damage level as when you docked (assuming you damaged it)? Yep
  3. Send a screen shot to [email protected] so that I know what the heck you're talking about.
  4. 1.0.02 RC6 is out. Don't worry, your RC5 saved games are 100% compatible (I think ) and the patch won't delete them. [ 12-04-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  5. I highly recommend any card based on the S3 chipset. Second choice would be any Rendition based card. [ 12-04-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

  7. quote: Originally posted by Stephanos: Yes, it's the way I thought.Thank you very much! Anyway, I do believe this is not the right time to bother SC, he is quite busy with other issues. And also, I still have some work to do on my new website. Thank you again! You're more than welcome to use anything you like, as long as you display the copyright notice on each page that uses it. Check the other fan sites (or Nova's post) for an idea of how this is done. And once you get your site up, send word to [email protected] and we'll add it to the fleet links page.
  8. quote: Originally posted by Steve Conley: Hey folks;Out of curiosity, if two ships from opposing sides beam intruders on your ship, will the intruders fight eachother AND you, or will they all just fight you? I know if you send a prisoner into a room with intruders, the intruders and prisoner will fight. That's always fun to do, teach those prisoner bastards for invading my ship! :-D Steve Probably not. Ever heard of the enemy of my enemy is my friend? (or something equally stupid)
  9. Its not a bug. The TTDs will show up when the terrain is generated. Just change the view angle (or the zoom) and they will be displayed. It happens all the time and is normal.
  10. Thanks for the report. Am gonna go try them myself now.
  11. quote: The frustration mounts as I realize these little sobs are damn tough to hit with cannons, I got some lady in the backgound telling me "something is out there" being a noob I respond " No Sh#@ !!, I can see " and conitnue to fire at the flies, next thing I know i'm boarded ( What the hell?), and lights start flashing, Ive been locked etc... you know its that rush of noise and beeps and messages from panicked crew that tells you, you have been had. LOL!!! Yeah, the voice message just kills me. btw, anytime you hear her say that (AI dependent), it means there's a cloaked ship out there somewhere, tracking you.
  12. quote: Originally posted by Jigoku San: Has anyone set off a RANDOM yet? I'm saving my credits for both parts. Then... (insert world here) beware! MWAHAHAHAHA!! Thats an interesting question. I don't think anyone has. Well, has anyone done it and seen the results? Its a moral dilemna just thinking about it.
  13. quote: Originally posted by Barron Morris: Lets say a launch a probe and program it to make 3 jumps...then dock at a station...will the probe continue on its way while im docked...I assume yes...but then again Im just a clueless newbie No because when you are docked (in single player) for gameplay reasons, world processing stops. I was planning on changing this but I ran out of time and didn't do it.
  14. If you haven't already, now would be the time to grab the latest nVidia 2311 XP drivers.
  15. I figured thats what some of you were thinking, so I saved you the agony and just created and appropriately titled thread. Don't yer just luv me? Anyway, I am trying to wrap up the 1.0.02 patch so that it is final sometime this decade. So, If you know of any VITAL and REPRODUCIBLE issues that require investigation, please post a DETAILED description in here and I'll get right on it. If I delete it, I will have a reason. Don't give me one. So far, here are the issues that I am looking into. If its not in here, its not on my radar. As I've said before, if it even looks like a driver or patch issue, I'm not interested in hearing about it. Persistent DamageFX. This is particles related. I passed this on to Andrei and he is still looking into this one because its probably buried deep in the graphics engine. He'll resurface soon. Naval units on land. I'm sure they are not on land, but rather on shallow land areas (perfectly legal for the engine to put them there). If this is the case, it means that I'd have to manually locate and relocate and/or delete them. Yikes!! To get an idea of what I'm talking about, try landing near a coastline that looks like land, and you will probably sink. Thats perfectly normal is like a beach, marshland etc. You can usually tell these types of land masses by their texturing attributes.
  16. quote: Originally posted by Nesborn: Alrighty. I just installed the 1.0.02 RC5 patch, and got a very strange problem. I started a new game as a Gammulan Stormcarrier, and after upgrading, jumped out of Canaan to Midae. When I arrived in Midae, I went to set a hyperspace course to Arima, but noticed something odd. According to the jump points I was given in the CC orders menu, I was still located in the Canaan system but when I checked the planet in the system and the LOC on the left hand side, it was Midae. Attempting to use any of the jump points caused the game to freeze up. First time that's ever happened. Unable to reproduce. I just started in Canaan, jumped to Midae and then onto to each of the sub regions in Midae and back to Canaan. All without any problems. Are you SURE you applied the patch properly and that you're not using a saved game?
  17. quote: Originally posted by Steve Conley: Hey folks;Sorry it took so long to send my save out. I'll see if I can replicate my problem on the new version. It looks like it happens when there's more intruders than prisoner slots on your ship when you dock on a station and click Login. My ship can only hold 5 prisoners ... if I have 6 or more intruders, it causes the crash. Any less, and I don't crash. I'll see if the error is in 1.00.2 and let you guys know. Steve Conley Confirmed bug Steve. The additional info you provided helped greatly. Seems like you are catching on fast. Thats a very good sign and hopefully the rest of the noobs will follow suit. Fixed.
  18. quote: Originally posted by Mr_Paris: HI SC and others... Apllied the new patch (1.0.02 RC5) cant actually see if i get the CTD with the marines/login now as after aprox 15 to 20 min when activating a key combo (like alt-L for logistics) i get a CTD , yet i left BCM runing over night parked in orbit , and didnt have a CTD at all....... Mr_Paris There's no reason why ALT+L would cause a crash. All its doing is activating a system. So, again, get the latest video drivers for your card.
  19. 1. You think? 2. There's nothing in the patch that would cause it. If too many units come into scope, this will happen. It has always happened. 3. Missiles don't bump, deflect or otherwise bounce. And since Tacops won't tell you anything unless the missile IS the current cam object, you can't tell what its doing. Just because the missile warped in 2D space, doesn't mean it bounced off anything. 4. Right
  20. quote: Originally posted by SmileyMan: The AI of the pilot definitely affects shuttle performance. So does the ship's damage condition
  21. The next jackass to create a thread when one already exists, is getting BANNED. And I don't care if every member of your family, including that anorexic cat, has a copy of the game. This is the FINAL warning that I will post about this. If disappearing posts and threads aren't already a clue of this NO-NONSENSE policy, perhaps finding yourself unable to post or outright banned from the site (once it is closed to the public), will be a wakeup clue. That is all.
  22. quote: However..as for the other issue..I read the Manual again (about the probes) and I cant find anything to explain why when I view planets in the Aplha Cygni System from Otura-6 in the Omega Centauri system with my probe, all race/mission zones are the same as the ones on Otura-6..not to mention my ship showing on the surface of each planet as well..Im scaning the Alpha Cygni system for Falkerie and there is not a single Falkerie asset showing up in the Aipha Cyngi System. here are the shots from my probe. I know this hasn't sunk in yet and thats it going to take a while before it does - but until you actually provide steps of WHAT you are doing and WHY you think it is a problem, we're just going to keep ignoring you. Nobody has time for chasing shadows. Least of all me.
  23. 1. I will look into it 2. Don't have a clue what you're talking about As for the patch, if you don't apply it properly. Well then....
  24. quote: Originally posted by Tac: The confirmation question to delete the saved game shows the box with accept/decline buttons, but there is no text in the box. its just blank. I have noted that the TACOPS view at sometimes "pauses" for a microsecond, then resumes. Not frame related as far as I can tell. Makes for interesting viewing, as sometimes you're observing and the fight suddenly warps out of your view. Missiles sometimes warp dozens of kliks away from their targets a lot now. Not all of them, but many times I see my fighters and the NPC's shoot a missile, see it fly to target, miss and then that missile is suddenly "bumped" outside my view. I zoom out and that missile is now dozens of kliks away from the fight. Missiles then start to move in circles and some even try to fly back to target, but run out of gas. 1. Even a complete and utter idiot understands what accept/decline mean, and won't need any further text to indicate such. 2. That has always been the case when a large number of units are processed. 3. If the missile misses and it turns to do another pass (as it will), guess what happens. 4. As for framerate, I guess you missed that first line in the VCF too huh? *sheesh* [ 12-04-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  25. I have released 1.0.02 RC5. Try that. Read my latest announcement first. I suspect that some problem may have cropped up between 1.0.01 versions which may have compromised the stability of restored saved games (even if the resume or restore worked without incident) by people using those games from the Gold version or the 1.0.01 Beta versions. So, just to be safe, before 1.0.02 goes final (hopefully tomorrow), now that it has enough fixes (though the persistent damagefx remains elusive) I need everyone to start using it. The saved games from the final version will be backward compatible with RC5.
