  1. I was thinking of releasing an all-in-one BCM demo which has the missions from E1, E2 as well as the bonus E2 mission. The difference being that it will use DX8 and the latest game kernel. Not sure how many people would want that, without at least a new mission. Which is why I haven't done it yet, since I don't have time to do a new mission.
  2. The diplomatic state of the game, is fixed (as Nova indicated), so, it doesn't change...unless scripted as such. In BCM, there still is no dynamic diplomacy, but if you go around attacking your friends, they'll relatiate against YOU not your race. The BC world is too complex to model diplomacy. Besides, thats not what the game is about.
  3. I have uploaded the WIP online appendix which Gallion and I have been working on. This will be included in the release version of BCM. All uninmportant items have been removed from the primary printed manual and will be installed as HTML (not Acrobat) files. I have also uploaded my WIP tutorial (I just spent the past few days on it), which will also be available and installed as an HTML file. Check the downloads page for the links. As far as the tutorial is concerned, make no mistake, it is NOT intended to replace the manual. I designed it in such a way that it provides a quick at-a-glance look at the most important aspects, especially for newbies. All suggestions for future updates to this item, are welcome. Again, it is NOT meant to replace the manual, so please don't tell me to put anything in there, which is either too advanced for its scope, or which is best left in the manual.
  4. Oh God, dare I take this one
  5. ....which is why I said to download it again.
  6. You can have your own picture in multiplayer. If it doesn't find the cmdr.bmp file in the folder, it will use the default one in the npc.zip file. Which is why mine is in there.
  7. Hector, you don't even have to do that. BMT Micro, my e-commerce group, also take checks....but they can't handle US shipping until the EB exclusive runs out (90-days post-release).
  8. quote: Yes, "adjust z buffer depth to rendering depth if unequal" is ticked in my display settings. So, what gives? Read the FAQ again. S_L_O_W_L_Y this time. OK?
  9. The demo readme includes tutorials for both demos. Those missions are also in the final game and will be used as the online tutorials. btw, you can pre-order the game at EB by going to this link
  10. Actually, if he's getting a CRC error, just download it again. And before you run it, just delete or rename the bctespawn.ini file. That file was used as hook into BCM but the standalone BCTE module does not need it. I forgot to delete it before uploading the file to the Net. oh well.
  11. quote: Sorry again for posting such crap here. nah, its interesting stuff. Carry on [ 08-20-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  12. quote: From the fact that he used it in the past tense, maybe? LOL!!! You're right. I need more sleep. Sorry $ilk. [ 08-20-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  13. quote: I understand this was a WIP Where'd you get that idea from? BCTE is CANCELLED.
  14. oooops...it gets better [ 08-19-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  15. Well thats odd, it should work with that INI file as is. In fact, I asked one of the guys to verify that it actually worked, before I uploaded it. And he sent me a private message saying that it did. And I don't remember him mentioning anything about having to edit that INI file. Did you try renaming that INI file btw, so that its missing? If you have a corrupted manual, it means you have a bad download. You may want to download it again, just in case other files are corrupted too.
  16. Well, I didn't see his post, since a moderator must have deleted it - but I've certainly banned him. Thats the end of that, I think. Nothing to see here folks, just hang in there, its getting very, very close now.
  17. Which is why I don't even pay Avault any attention anymore. I don't have a f*cking clue what David and co are doing over there, but I won't be surprised if the site, just ups and dies one of these days. I've read reviews over there that made me whince. ...which is exactly why I never sent them a preview copy of BCM. I can't be bothered. And its not like they don't have competent writers, I think they're just tossing up as much crap as possible and I doubt that David is even reading them. I mean, that excerpt that Parias posted is just an example of just how hilarious it can get. They might as well have assigned a sports game writer to review I-War2. Besides, its generally known that multiplayer in IW2, well, sux. *sigh*
  18. Pretty spiffy sleuthing there indeed, Zee. Up to last week, I was using ISX 3.03. I just paid (last week), $164 for an upgrade to ISX 3.5 - so I hope the b*astards have fixed it, cuz I'd sure like to think I've paid $164 for a fix. Anyway, just to play it safe, I'm gonna stuff it under SoftIce when I get the chance, and see if in fact they've fixed it. I'll be packaging the next BCM demo (due out just around the game's release in Sept) with ISX 3.5 too, btw.
  19. quote: I believe what he was refering to was a line-item in the VCF or readme accompanying the E2 demo. There it mentioned that ground texturing did not work correctly due to a driver issue. You issued a workaround via some command-line switch that I don't recall at the moment to add to the shortcut that started the demo. And exactly how does this equate to BCM not working on the Radeon?
  20. Yeah right. They'll just **** up ANY chance of success, by releasing piss poor drivers. I'm not in the least excited. quote: (p.s. SC do you think the 8500 will work alright in BCM? (which wasn't true for the old radeon)) Didn't you promise to lay off the crack? Who says BCM doesn't work with the Radeon?
  21. How your favorite publisher is faring
  22. quote: Hmmm, no galactic map then? Oh well. Only if you have pre-ordered by the end of August. The free maps are on a first come, first serve basis. quote: While we're talking about pre-orders etc, I ordered my copy from BMT a while ago now, should I have received a confirmation email, because I never did? Dunno. Send them email
  23. LOL!! --> MidnightGreen. I can see you'll fit right in here - you're just as insane as the rest of the regs. quote: So...this update of the VCF is last public beta update, if I understand your Swahili correctly Like a bunch of others, I've been a regular VCF reader/checker; it was the first thing I did when I sat down in front of the PC in the morning. So thanks for the update; that you even maintained and updated a public VCF has always been appreciated. I'm going to miss that little tradition. At least till next month, I guess. I'll keep it online a while longer. I updated it for public viewing didn't I? quote: Well, let's all hope mid-September is IT. And remember everyone, he said "guess", and "all things being equal", and September does have 30 days in it... Let's let the man work! hehe
  24. No. But if you sent me your laptop, I'd be sure to check it out and let you know
