You might want to tell the Underdogs folks that they have a corrupted file? Assuming of course that was the problem? -
BC3000AD v.2 free installation problems
Supreme Cmdr replied to a topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
Why don't you just move the program to the other drive and then run it from there? It will then give you enough free space to install where ever you like. The Installshield installer does allow you to change the default installation folder. The default install folder is just that : the default. You can change it....but only if actually read the options displayed right there in front of you. See that CHANGE button next to the default installation folder? Guess what its for. And that attitude will get nothing but banned. Why the hell do you think we have specific forums and descriptions of each? If you can't read instructions and abide by the rules, get OFF my site!! I don't have time to be moving threads to the proper forums because people like you can't READ. Don't you think we have better things to do with our time? And its because you can't or won't read, that you don't realize that you can actually change the default install folder. And if something as SIMPLE as these two, ellude you, then GIVE UP on the game because you WON'T be able to play it!! [ 07-30-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ] -
I don't have a clue what DX8 is doing. I know that I'm not using any of those instructions, as indicated earlier. Usually its the video drivers that do that sort of stuff now (if at all).

I saw it I hated it It is a pile of crap, for ALL the aforementioned reasons...and then some.

If you have 16 fighters with 8 pilots, then you have 8 spare fighters, don't you? Doh!

Oh, what I would give for a new mission....
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Game Demo Discussions
Thats correct Adam. You'd think that these vets would know that by now. It took a newbie to remind them Anyway, I did a fleet scenario today (for BCM itself - since all the demo scenarios are also from the final game), but got distracted and didn't finish testing it. Also, the current BCM kernel is different from the E2 demo, so I'd have to release new EXEs, some new kernel files, AND the mission, if I'm going to release a new mission. So, I'll see what I can come up with in the next few days. The last thing I want is to release some files and forget others. So, I'd have to actually install the E2 demo, compare the environments, and then figure out which changed files (kernel, content etc) to include in the additional scenario. -
You can't accelerate time in BCM because it screws up the AI processing. Thats why this feature was removed back in BC3K v2.0x. I dunno where you found that key combo you posted, but its certainly NOT from the BCM demo keyboard commands file. Is it?

how *does* the dreaded TLM work then ?
Supreme Cmdr replied to Apollon's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
I already told you that those deploy/collect orders in that menu, do NOT work. In fact, they were only put there for debug purposes, I must've not disabled it. They don't work *there* because you you have to be *in* Tacops to carry out such ops. -
None of the fighters require 2 pilots anymore

Most of you talking rubbish about a big fleet vs fleet mission, don't even have the horsepower to handle it. Then when the system beings your MK2 POS to its knees, you're going to start crying like snivelling babies. -
Why ask why? Just play the damn game and be happy you HAVE a game like this to play. And please try not to be annoying [ 07-27-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

BCM Episode 2 demo - What I think

1. Fixed 2. Rubbish Next! -
ROTFLMAO!!! If you checked the VCF, I recently changed that function. It used to do exactly what you described, but only for fighters. I have now extended it so that it is supported in the command craft (CC) as well. To leave your CC and go wandering about, do this: Find a good place to land. And land. Try NOT to land on the coastline because in some areas, it is so shallow, that it may look like solid ground, but then you land, and discover that you landed in a shallow area...and your ship starts to sink. Once you land, give the CC the HALT command (from the System Menu) and then turn on the A/P. This way, it won't go anywhere when you leave. Now send your AE to the desired fighter and launch as normal, once he gets to it (you can track this in PerScan) btw, I think I explained this in the demo readme which is included in the E2 demo.
-
While you don't require the E2 demo to play the E1, they are different in a lot of ways and have different missions. So, you should get both, but install them at different locations!!!

With your rig, I would seriously consider just getting the 1Ghz cpu and an extra stick of 256MB PC133 memory, and calling it day. Then, start saving for the end of year blowout sales. Yep, am waiting for that K3 myself, actually.
-
So, anyone tried this yet? Also, I downloaded and installed the free version (no, I didn't save the original I built) and discovered that, Installshield did in fact, pack that file incorrectly. The size is as Rico states. So, I have created a small 230K patch which will fix this 98 byte discrepancy. Just download into your BC3K v2.09 folder and execute it. You should now be able to bypass the CD-ROM check as described above and remove the /d1 from the .BAT files. Please advise OK, File Planet now have the patch. So I have removed it from my site and changed the URL to reflect the FP download link. They also have it mentioned on the main BC3K 2.09 downloads page as well [ 07-27-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

hehe, I see that, as always, my rep preceeds me. Again, welcome to the party, pal!

quote: it is a known issue that is under investigation and might be fixed... I'd have to check the VCF to know for sure. Theres no might, it will be fixed....once I find out what's causing it I suspect that when you go into Tacops, because it defaults to the center of the region, which has a different altitude, the view pos gets reset when you switch back. So, if the Tacops alt was, say, 5K' and you were at, say 3K', it will attempt to reset you back at the lower alt, resulting in your alt taking a dip, hence the damage. Its a pretty complex piece of code, which I don't particularly want to mess with atm. The work around is to stay in VTOL before going to Tacops (when on a planet) either on the ground or at a high alt. quote: I am planning to upgrade my computer in september. I am still tossing around weather I will get an Athlon or go for the mid range P4. (currently I have a p3 866)Which processor will benefit BCM the most? do you have a lot of SEE/2 coding in the game? Or will the more "raw" FPU power of the Athlon do just as well? You can go with any P4 (do you really need a P4?) or an Athlon or Intel 1Ghz+, to pair with your Kyro-II I'm not doing *any* chip specific optimizations. I'm relying on the drivers for that. The chips are so fast now, that its just not worth the extra dev time for me. Also, the results are negligible. You really need a TnL card if you're going to be running BCM at anything higher than 800x600x32 with all options turned on. As I've said before, BCM can and will bring that Kyro-II to its knees, without breaking a sweat. If you have a P3 866, I would consider just getting a P3 1Ghz+ chip (if your current mobo supports it) and some PC133 memory (about 256MB+), rather than wasting money on a new mobo, chip etc On one of my WIN2K rigs, I am running a P3-1Ghz on an Asus CUV4X-E mobo, 512MB RAM, a GF2 GTS vid card, swap file fixed at 500MB and can play BCM, with a massive fleet battle (using bitmap, instead of particle conrails), with MP3 music, at 1024x768x32 quite comfortably and sustain about 40fps sometimes. For IA scenarios (which the demo uses), I can go up to 1280x1024x32 and still play quite comfortably.
