quote: Will there be nebulas in CGO or some kind of way that if you are a raider you can lie dormant without anyone being able to see you but you being able to tell what ships are uproaching, so that if you see a trader ship or someone you can loot approaching you can sneak up on them and loot them. wtf has this got to do with multiplayer?

I paid the $249 to upgrade to UBB6 (which is a complete re-write), but they advised upgrading to the last 5.x version first. So I did. Later tomorrow I will upgrade to 6.0x. One thing I noticed is that we have lost CWM smilies, even though I copied the code over. I can't reach the CWM webpage either, because they seem to have moved. Anyone have their new location? That is correct. Those 64 player servers are exclusively for the internal/external/dev teams only as they will assist in the streamlining of the GCO 1000 player servers. If anyone sets up a normal server, as long as it is on, the world will run. Just like the normal game. If players log-off, their stats are erased and not saved (like on the internal servers above) on the server.

GBS-2 is not a supported module, so it will not ship with the game. It will only be available for download.

Yup Also, items in that WIP section are WIP and are not likely to be cut from the final Gold, except perhaps for the Dimension Jump feature, which I haven't written a single line of code for. CTAS will not be cut because it is a critical gameplay component that affects several play modes, including multiplayer. At this point, if anything is not likely to make it into the final Gold, its probably multiplayer. Simply because, while the engine is already developed and partially implemented, it needs at least a month or more of stringent testing by the external testers. It is scheduled to be the next major patch, after the upcoming v2.3.00 major patch which includes the final terrain. But if it doesn't get out to the external testers by May 1st, the game won't meet its May 15th Gold date (the day it gets sent off to manufacturing). And if I decide to release it without multiplayer (100% my decision), then it would of course be the first patch that is released. Its one thing to ship a solid single player game (which I think we have at the moment), its another to ship a game with a solid single player game and a piss-poor multiplayer game which will only result in bastards renewing their attacks on me. So, I'll probably disable it, get it fully tested and then release it as a patch. Either way, all dates are mine and I can change them as I see fit. I will probably have Justin create a poll (once May comes around and if multiplayer is not fully tested) to see if the BC fans want the game to ship without multiplayer and released as a patch, or if it should be delayed to June once its been fully tested. Eitherway, I'm sure that I'll make the right decision. After all, its my product and am not under the control of any publisher. [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 04-01-2001).]

And with my renewed commitment to streamlining GBS-II for BCM, there are going to be a lot more cool missions for BCM. Especially since IA/TA scenarios are so easy to script. In fact, BCM makes it that much easier to do a whole bunch of cool stuff (create new space, planet regions, models, soundfx, crew pics etc) that were not easily possible in previous BC titles. In fact, if someone sent me a 3DS Max file of a Star Trek or Star Wars ship, I can get it into BCM in under 5 mins flat. Of course, it will take longer for the property owners to threaten to sue us.

....am guessing he meant SFC2 (Star Fleet Command 2)

Good idea

Trying uninstalling and reinstalling. It definitely sounds like a driver problem. Also, nvidia have released the 758 WHQL drivers already. You can grab them over at http://www.the-ctrl-alt-del.com/Drivers.htm#7.59

quote: I'll contact tech support when I get the full version. ...not with that rig you won't. And the only available options on the main menu, are the Instant Action and Configuration options. Apart from that, you can't save/restore IA/TA scenarios either.

uhm, Installshield allows you to change the install drive, doesn't it? I'm quite sure that it does.

The Complete Idiot's Guide to GBS Scripting
Supreme Cmdr replied to Gallion's topic in Battlecruiser Millennium
quote: anywayz.. there's not really any offical place to post user-created GBS scripts Once BCM ships, there will be a dedicated incoming FTP folder specifically for that. Until then, take Pugwash' advice and post them somewhere. This time around, I also plan on cleaning up the GBS-II docs (finally) because its now easier to use and I suspect that it will be used a lot in BCM. -
Line of sight is used. Its just that the station just happens to be in the line of sight and becomes the victim of friendly fire. Good suggestion on the ability to dock from Tacops. In fact, it doesn't have to be in Tacops, it can just be added to the CC orders menu which is accessible from the bridge and Tacops. I will consider it. Glad you're having fun.

Speaking of which. I keep forgetting to update the product page to reflect a PIII minimum spec to run the game. Its not like any hardcore BC gamer (not that I'm in the least interested in any other kind) is going to be running a PII 450 (the max PII speed, I think) box, anyway. Archivian, its going to take nothing short of an excorcism, to get that machine to run the final version of BCM, let alone the debug demo build. As for the Blue highlighting on the V3-2K card, its a driver issue. Nothing I can do about it. Time to upgrade bud - IF - you want to play this game. *sigh* ShoHashi. I'm not ticked off. I just don't have sufficient brain cells left for anything resembling guesswork. ALL you had to say was that my name was listed in the Special Thanks section. It took you, what, THREE posts to come up with that??? I mean, think about that for a minute. How hard could it have been to be just CLEAR?? How the HELL was I to know wtf you were talking about? For all I know, they could have listed me as a developer on the game (which am not), a licensee of the engine (which I am) etc. Are we clear now? If you can't be clear in a post, fer crissakes, don't post!

Doesn't stuff like that carry the death penalty? Just asking!!

You guys remember this prick, right? OK. Now read this And this 'nuff said.

Thats very odd. This is the first time someone has reported such a problem with Installshield. You may want to go over to www.installshield.com and browse their support forums for that error code. Also, clean out your C:WINNTTEMP folder as well. AND you can also try going to www.microsoft.com and downloading the latest Windows Installer and upgrading it manually in WIN2K. This way, the Installshield in BCM, won't bother trying to upgrade it. Let us know how it goes. ps: as for those ladies over at Taldren, they have no clue who they're dealing with, do they?
