Westwood is struck in the face with a brick of originality!
Supreme Cmdr replied to Parias's topic in General Chatter
They are two different games folks. E&B is a point and click roll-of-the-dice. mouse-only, turn based game. Haven't you guys actually read ANYTHING about it? Its basically C&C in space/planet. Its not even a space sim. In other news, I just read that Elite4 will have the ability for the player to leave his ship in first person. heh -

Is it today or isn't it ? (Demo pt 1 that is)
Supreme Cmdr replied to Chillum's topic in General Chatter
....the demo is coming. Be afraid. Be very afraid. In the meantime, if you're bored, go read my latest soapbox article. [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 03-07-2001).] -
Just the standard copyright is fine.

Just to let you guys know that we're going to be moving from Vservers/Hostpro to Pair networks. Faster server, more space etc. So, the site could be down WITHOUT NOTICE, in the upcoming days.

Try to get the game running properly before using UNSUPPORTED hacks e.g. Terran/Insurgent script from the mispak1 Uninstall, re-install, patch and just try to isolate the problem first.

quote: My pilots seem to take their time in distroying the SAM and SAL. The SEAD order works best. Also, it depends on their BA skills. Though they don't drop bombs per se, it means the same thing - the ability to prosecute ground targets. quote: execute him and recruit another LOL!!

quote: Isn't it realistic that a starbase would have some advantage over your own crew? Repair times a little faster? ..thats why the engineers at a station are faster than your in-ship engineers the station is more likely to have replacements - even though they have limits (since you don't want players rushing off to replace stuff just because they can) the station always has spare parts the station will always assign a team of engineers to do as you please And apart from the cheats that making this real-time plugs, the game IS and ALWAYS has been real-time based. I just forced a pause in previous versions to make things easier. With the new interface that is easy to use, as well as multiplayer, EVERYTHING has to be in real-time. Steve's post is spot-on in this regard. And the fact that its in real-time, also discourages you from just docking at a station indefinitely. You can, but if the station comes under attack and you're there when it goes boom - well then.... Its realistic. Its how I designed and implemented it. Its not changing. Ever.

Pugwash, what have they go in the March issue about BCM? fistmaster, were you previously in the Beta program? If so, sure thing, send me email and I'll throw you back in there. -
I had to re-open this thread to point out that BCM did NOT have a problem with ICS. The problem was in the third-party copy protection program used. ICS and PWS were using a VXD which hooked in a vector that made the copy protection program think that it was being hacked. They have since fixed that problem and the new version does not have this problem any more.

Blast from the past: Vintage CGW Article on BC3K
Supreme Cmdr replied to Steve Schacher's topic in Gaming Media News
I think Mike is right. No need to take it down. -
The one am looking forward to the most is Denny Atkin's. It will show up at www.cdmag.com on Monday and in the May issue of Computer Games Magazine. Am going to release 30 kick-ass terrain shots right after that article. You will see a few of them in that article (for the first time). Later on that day, I will post some more never-before-seen ones.

Chuck aka Powercow, sent me this Microsoft Support link and I wanted to share it. This looks like an hack because am not so sure that MS would permit this sort of stuff on their servers.
-
gawd, thats beautiful
-
I already have SMP code. I just haven't used it yet. I thought about it specifically for MP servers, but will have it in for SP as well. So, if you've got WIN2K and a dual-proc, you'll be in heaven.
