Shuttles not deploying ATV
Supreme Cmdr replied to StormCrow's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
Its not a bug. -
Limiting the texture memory to 2MB has nothing to do with BC3K. It is a problem with the 3DFX DOS Glide API and drivers. The reduced texture memory does not result in lower frame rates.

What version of the game are you playing? Have you search the forum for issues like this?

Fatal Error: Cannot Open bc3lib3.res
Supreme Cmdr replied to a topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
Papi is correct. In fact, this rule is listed in the README.TXT file which is displayed during installation. And mentioned again at the top of the FAQ. -
This is a good place as any. quote: By order of the EARTHCOM govt., Commander Thomas Siemens, is hereby appointed to the role of Fleet Commander of Prime Fleet. As such, is responsible for the activities of this fleet, its commanders and wings.

I just got your email. BMT Micro is definitely sending out the wrong CD-ROM. They should be sending out the full v2.08 CD-ROM, instead of a CD-ROM with v1.0x to v2.07 patch on it. That patch they sent you will only work on the boxed UK (Gametek) v1.0x. If you have the US version, then it won't work. I don't know how you got the boxed US (Take2) version in Italy. Which do you really have anyway? If you have the US version. It won't work. If you have the UK version, then you need to Install the FULL 1.0 Open up an MS-DOS session Copy the files from the CD-ROM to the folder where BC3K is installed Open an MS-DOS session. Change to the BC3K folder and type updateuk ?, using your CD-ROM drive letter instead of ?. It will then copy some files from the v1.0 CD-ROM (which must be in the CD-ROM drive), to the BC3K folder, before starting the patch. If you have the UK version and the patch does not work, it means that you have not done it properly. No matter which version you have, they should be sending you a v2.08 CD-ROM once they get my email asking wtf is going on over there. For now, if the patch works, use it. Once you get the v2.08 CD-ROM, just delete the BC3K folder and re-install v2.08 from the CD-ROM. [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 12-24-1999).]

Yes, I found the order but I'm confused. As of two months ago, the full v2.08 CD-ROM is what was being sent out. Your girlfriend place the order on 12/12/99 and therefore, you should have received a v2.08 CD-ROM which you just install from (by running the SETUP.EXE file on the CD-ROM). It is not a patch and does not require the original. Did you get a CD-ROM in the mail or did you get a file download link? If you got a CD-ROM, send me a listing of the files on the CD-ROM to [email protected] . If you got a file download link. Thats wrong. If you got a CD-ROM with the v1.0 to v2.07 patch on it. Thats wrong.

The v1.0x to v2.0x download patch was never on sale for $15, so, I don't know where you bought it from. If you are getting that error, it means that you are trying to patch the wrong version. The downloadable patch is no longer available and hasn't been for over two months. So, you won't even be able to get the proper one. I just checked the BMT sales log and don't find an entry with your details.

The config.sys settings in the FAQ, use EMM386 to achieve the same results.

*sigh*. That just figures.

General Protection Save fault?
Supreme Cmdr replied to Ord Tantel's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
I have no interest in the emails you have received. If they too had problems saving, they would have posted here. As far as I know and until I get independent verification, saving works in FF and ACM. There is no code difference. -

You don't need memory to save games. Can you save/restore a game in Free Flight? -
Shuttles not deploying ATV
Supreme Cmdr replied to StormCrow's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
It is known that depending on the drop point, the shuttle may not reach the waypoint because of the topology below the waypoint. If it can't reach it, then the event that triggers the AI action (deploy the damn this, jackass!), won't fire. And the shuttle will either sit there or RTB depending on the next order in the sequence. The only workaround until BCMillennium which has a different topology scanning technology and a full-blown landing model for all ships, is to do it yourself, as you have been doing. -
General Protection Save fault?
Supreme Cmdr replied to Ord Tantel's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
no, looking from that autoexec.bat, SDD is not installed for DOS. To be sure, uninstall it from within Windows. The config.sys in c:windows is irrelevant. The one you should be concerned about is the one in the root at c:. Make sure it matches the FAQ settings. REMOVE the SDD utility because you do NOT need it. General Protection Save fault?
Supreme Cmdr replied to Ord Tantel's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
If you have one in c:config.sys, leave it there. Leave the one in c:windows untouched. btw, what does your c:autoexec.bat file look like? do you have a SAVE folder in the folder where BC3K is installed? -

*sigh* The one in C: just like the FAQ says. No wonder you are having problems, just look at that file, for crying out loud. Why don't you just read the FAQ and follow the instructions? I mean, how card can that be? [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 12-06-1999).] -

Supreme Cmdr replied to Ord Tantel's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
I don't think the buffers, fcbs and files lines fixed it. The FAQ has the proper settings. If you had used those, you would have been fine. I suspect that you problem was a combo of DPMI and bad saved games. Using FILES=90 is just a waste of memory. The FBCS setting is irrelevant. Again, if its not in the FAQ, you're on your own. -
*sigh* Feel free to get an Amnesty for Levi Hackwith thread going. If it succeeds, I might just let him back in if he behaves. There will be a 2 week probation period. And if he doesn't, I'll ban everyone who signed the petition to let him back in, for 60 days. btw, why did I ban him again? I've forgotten and can't be bothered to dig up my records.

Your post is fine Charles. You guys are rumored to be operating in the Procyon region anyway, so, even if you guys ended up there, it would be legal. However, nobody should post anything related to deployment to the region of conflict, nor any combat engagement until I release the script. Even then, deployment posts would come after I release the script and those who want to post everyday, based on their on-going play of the campaign, can do so. My final post (I will be playing the campaign too btw) will signal the OK for us to start posting about the skirmish. So, make notes as you play and then use those to provide your accounting.

heh, you made member 'cause u ask too many questions which in turn jacks up your number of posts.

Actually I created a Playmod script that gives some supplies and weaponry. I didn't alter any personnel stats. You won't need to trade for anything and Fleet C&C will be active without Karl having to be on the ship. Just start the game, quit, run the script. Continue. Once the combat is over, I'll watch the stories as they unfold and pick people at random to send me their saved games. If anyone cheated by using Playmod (other than the commands I jammed in their), we'll know. The new format for BCM allows the craft to launch from any station (specifically for multiplayer reasons) as well as a complimentary script command that allows you to do the same thing via a script. I was tempted to port those lines of code over to v2.09 so that I could have everyone launch from Orion (since thats where we all were) instead of GHQ (the default), but I decided against it. Which is why, if you read my latest entry, you'll see that we should all head back to GHQ for supplies. I could have hard-coded the Orion station as the new default launch platform (one line of code), but I didn't want to do a special 2.09 build just for this RPG hobby. So, I killed that idea in my head, pretty quick. [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 11-13-1999).]

Orion Starstation: The Orion Lounge
Supreme Cmdr replied to Joseph Bosch's topic in Role Playing Discussions
The crew briefing in Operations was quite uneventful. As I scanned the battle scarred faces of the troops, along with some green commanders, I couldn't help but wonder what was going through their minds. You can almost tell those eager for action from those who had seen action and regarded each new mission with skepticism. Eitherway, some of them were going to die, perhaps in fact, all of them. After hosting a few questions from my Combat Officer and gone over some new secure communications protocols with my Comms Officer, I gave the order to set flight for GALCOM HQ where we'd get new supplies and weaponry, in time for the mission launch that was to come any day now. -
Just load the config.sys and autoexec.bat files in notepad and put REM in front of those 3 lines. Save the file. Reboot. Your CD-ROM will still work.
