  1. Just a small point on newtonian physics. The advantage I see to them is it's much more fun piloting a ship, and your able to do a lot better manuvers, and think more. It's sorta cool thrusting one way, then swinging your ship around to fire behind you, or strafing across a surface, etc.
  2. quote:Originally posted by Epsilon 5: LOL takes me roughly 20 mins Um, it can't only take you 20 minutes to upgrade everything. The actual time taken to install the upgrades would always take over 20 minutes, as far as I can tell.
  3. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Sure, I could prevent it, but for the comical benefit of the whole affair, I left that in. In fact, they also used to kidnap your crew, until I suppressed that one. [ 01-21-2002: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ][/QB] Why'd kidnapping get suppressed? Did they kidnap marines sent to kill em?
  4. Join the Gammulan fleet, not a Terran fleet. The reason? Go to races Appendix. Read the tech level for the races. Case closed. (posted in response to a post saying to join GalCom)
  5. Read the races Appendix. Note the Gammulan Tech Level compared to all other races. Now you know which fleet to join...
  6. So, uhh, the Gammulan FC will decide whether or not I can play on a Fleet Server? It's THAT simple? So as long as I take a few missiles for the FC in multi-player, be a punching bag for his enemies, etc, I will probably be able to play? (starts sending bribes and monetary gifts to his FC) You're finally starting to catch on and get the hang of this Dredd TTFN [ 01-21-2002: Message edited by: Dredd ] [ 01-22-2002: Message edited by: Gallion ]
  7. Gimmie a G! Gimmie a U! Gimmie a N! Gimmie a S! GO GUNS!!!! (ressurects the dead topic)
  8. I hear it gives a performace increase. Good idea? Bad idea? What should I look out for? Any specific files (other than drivers) I should save? Any personal experiences with it? I have 2 17 gig HDs. I have Windows ME now. Should I wait till I get XP to do it? Or should I see how XP works before I do it?
  9. Yeah! Eat that! 10 intruders boarded by ship today. I lost one marine and minor damage to 3 ship systems. They lost 10 intruders. They just sat in my FCs and SCs till my marines and pilots shot them out. Too bad the cargo pods from the ships I destroyed during the fighting were unable to be recovered (stupid self-destruct on cargo pods)
  10. Yes, the plot scenario has been overused, but B5 series usually have a lot of underlying plot, as was shown through the evolution of B5. It being rushed in this series is probably due to fear of it being canceled like Crusade, but im sure JMS will come up with a way to make the plot interesting. Even if all we see is all we get, think of the alternatives. There's either the: 1. Big bad alien race threatening destruction of the known "good" civilization, and the plot runs along with their progress and battles (even minor good person vs evil person ones). OR 2. A bunch of people running around trying to solve their own personal problems and mostly character development (a soap opera). B5, the original series, was unique because it combined both of the elements perfectly, great character development along with a good underlying plot. Hopefully LOTR (Legend of the Rangers, interesting Acronym), will do the same.
  11. Reviews aren't THAT bad, just this one. Usually if you check a few different sources, and they all agree that a game is good/bad, then it's likely that it is that way. Of course, if your a die hard Star Wars fan, you'll buy Star Wars games that are horrible, no matter what the review. If your going to use reviews, you need to also use common sense.
  12. After I installed the game, the only CTD problem I had was after I destroyed a station with that supply depot=station bug that was around. Other than that, the game didn't crash out of the box, and that reviewer IS attacking the game as opposed to reviewing it. I really don't know how he got it to crash though, he seems too incompetent to be able to get through the shields on a station, let alone destroy it. Could you sue them for libel? Saying it crashes 90% of the time on top end machines seems a little unlikely...
  13. Well, I went through a flux field and decimated a Ter/Mil base on a Falk planet, after blowing up the orbiting Fal/Mil base. (not sure about abriviations). I just noticed the most interesting thing though. I've been playing the game for awhile, and after buying the phased array iod, I was boarded by intruders. Being the smart captain I am, I turned off transporter control and launch control as my marines captured some prisoners. I later noticed that my phased-array IOD was gone, right when I tried firing it in combat. I figured they blew it up or stole it, so I was about to buy a new one. Then I noticed, when sending my shuttles on mining missions, that they had LOTS of cargo in them. I unloaded the cargo, and behold, about 30% of my cargo, including the phased array, was on board 3 of my shuttles. Damn AI, how can you move a ship based weapon into a shuttle......
  14. (passes the beer to everyone) How much EP do you think i'll get from Gammulan High Command for blowing up Earth with a RANDOM? Wonder if it'll be enough for a promotion?
  15. Hey, it lay off B5. In the original B5 series, the first episodes were criticized a lot too. The new series needs to start somewhere. Give it time, it'll get better. Yes, the weapons con really, really, REALLY sucks. The rate of fire should be connected to the ship, not to how fast the person can move. Maybe it'll be explained later. Other than that, I thought the premire was pretty good for a first show. Weapons con sucks, but it looks like they put down a good foundation for character development, as long as they carry through with it.
  16. 100000 bottles of beer on a wall. 100000 bottles of beer. Take one down. Pass it around. 99999 bottles of beer on a wall. (Commander Dredd counting off time until his crew is smart enough to RANDOM Earth)

  18. Get a lawyer to read over the letter and military code. I'm not an expert on law, but I know that typically, it's hard to get out of the military once you've made a commitment.
  19. quote: Garibaldi only changed when his brain got scrambled by the psicop..but he became the same paranoid guy he was at the start. He did get bald though. *spoiler if havent gotten by 1st season* I'd be paranoid too if one of my troops/friends shot me in the back.
  20. I agree with most of what's on this board in regards to gameplay being more important. After playing a game with the **BEST** graphics for awhile, you stop caring about looking at the pretty pictures, and about killing the stupid enemies in front of you and beating the game. The fun part of the game is in the actual killing of the enemies and "beating" the game, and not in the pretty pictures you'll eventually not pay attention to anymore. The background eventually becomes something to merely give contrast to the enemy. BCM is probably the best game in gameplay ever, and the graphics are enough to get the job done. If I end up playing a game all night, it will be because I love the gameplay, not because I like pretty pictures. I can always dream for that...
  21. Is that a RTFM question? I think the possibility of what happened is referred to in there.
  22. Ok, Kirk/ST: TOS and the movies stemming from the OTS. You can't beat the way Kirk wants to rip Khan's throat out, kills Klingons, and all around makes a good scifi movie with good action. Sheridan with B5 though is a character you really grow to care about. If Kirk gets shot, beat up, knocked out, you really don't care since you know he's going to be right back up and at it. Sheridan on the other hand is an ordinary human thrown into extraordinary circumstances and is elevated to save the universe. When *****PLOT SPOILER*****, Sheridan only has 20 years left to live, I know that someone out here wasn't happy to know that the main character was going to die. In the last episode, seeing B5 get blown to bits and Sheridan go *poof* was much more touching than Kirk being killed at the end of ST: Generations, or the various Enterprizes getting blown up. B5 was a genre of it's own, full of character development, romance, action, and in all was an epic tale. Star Trek was a sci-fi action movie fan's dream. You want a good, sorta developed, action movie or series with a good plot, you watch ST. If you want an epic, you watch B5.
  23. As far as I know, Farscape was written far in advance, but even if it wasn't, I must say it is still a great sci-fi show, even in whatever season it's in now. The "poor SOB being lost in the middle of nowhere with a crazy crew", only gets so far. Eventually the plot line gets repetitive, and any goals of the crew disappear. The story eventually had to narrow down to actual goals, such as John (Chrighton) stopping the evil people, getting home, etc. He can't be a wussy fighter all of the time, and he did develop from a weak human avoiding combat, afraid of everything, to someone who can actually fight. Being hunted by everything in the universe makes you HAVE to learn to fight. Besides, constantly hiding from people gets REALLY boring, REALLY fast. Might as well have some action. And in response to his relationships....a guy had needs. Anyone wanna argue with that?
  24. Most of the outspoken people on "guns not helping", are those who would almost never need a gun because they don't live in an area they probably need it, travel in areas they would probably need one, or have bodyguards to protect them to begin with.
  25. After reading the posts that state that the only people definitely allowed on bc3000ad hosted servers (fleet servers), are fleet leaders and their invited guests, how would I go about getting an official Gammulan Fleet Approved? To me, it seems as if it would be an integral part of any major MP fleet battles, since they ARE big, bad, and ready to wipe out the Terrans, and unless I am totally missing something on the FAQ, there is no foreign race registered/recognized fleets.
