People use those Custom Ranks. Well, they should remember to use only Commander, and not to denote a position. Custom Ranks are for Alliances like the Insurgents. Positions like "Staff Chief" or "Wing Comander/Leader" are not ranks. Maybe we can denote the position in brackets? Like: Commander (Staff Chief) or Commander (Wing Leader). Thomas (a.k.a. Heh, now that's an interesting thread! Okay, let's try: "G U d i H l" is a construct and resulted from a NPC name I used for my old pen&paper roleplaying. On night I was wondering how to name the unknkown villain in the background and came up with "Grosser Unbekannter, der im Hintergrund lach/lauert" (in English: big stranger, who laughs/lurks in the background). Best thing is, it has some sensible sound if spoken in German (although we usually would write it gudiel, with E instead of H). Well, as for my real name: "Siemens" is some great electronics corporation here in Germany, too bad I only wear its name and have now connection to it at all. Hmm, found the problem with the black font: code: Q. WHY DOES THE GAME NOT WORK WITH MY VOODOO3 OR VOODOO BANSHEE BASED CARD? A. The Voodoo3 uses the same drivers as the Banshee. However, the GLIDE2X.OVL which shipped with this card, as well as the lastest driver set released by 3Dfx do not work with most games that require GLIDE2X.OVL. You can download the http://www.3000ad.com/downloads/3dfxdrivers.zip">VOODOO Drivers file from the 3000AD website and unzip it into the folder where you installed BC3K. Read the included READTHIS.TXT file. The game will then use this driver instead of the faulty one in C:WINDOWS (which may be needed by other games). This archive contains drivers for all 3DFX Voodoo boards. Those two cause the problem, i.e. Netscape make up its own formatting thereafter. Thomas (a.k.a. Derek, Found a minor cosmetic "quirk" in the Troubleshooting FAQ: in the answer of the question "Q. WHY DOES THE GAME NOT WORK WITH MY VOODOO3 OR VOODOO BANSHEE BASED CARD?" the font color changes to black, and the font itself changes too (using NS 4.73) for the rest of the document. Gallion, Does it work now with Derek's tips? I am thinking about buying such a card, too (upgrading from my Voodoo 3), and want to avoid troubles... Thomas (a.k.a. Welcome to our community, Cmdr. DeMarche! As I am glad, and proud to read that you want to join Prime, I would follow "Uncle Rattler's" advice in suggesting to take a look at the other fleets, too. Most of the fleets are specialized, whereas Prime is an all purpose warfare fleet; while we have our specialists, too, our main purpose is that of a main fleet: ISS gets the information, Orion acts as the spear head, Wraith provides distraction, and we (together with EARTHCOM fleet) are the "Elefant Herd" that "stomps" everone down by pure mass. For fleet information, please take a look here. Now, the Insurgency (Spectre Fleet) attracts a lot of people, too (I guess they all believe themselves to be some sort of romantic Pirates, or Freedom Fighters, heh). Well, GALCOM declared them outlaws in 2965, so that is our point of view. IMO they are an annoyance one has to live with, and the problem of ISS and EARTHCOM fleets. Prime's enemy are the Gammulans! So, those are the roles the fleets provide. Choose the one you like most, there are great RP possibilities in every fleet, and good career possibilities, too. Not to forget those who do not want to join any fleet at all (wearing the UCV designation), playing merchants, pirates, or mercenaries. Just choose your role, everything is possible! If you want to join Spectre, you may "defect" to the Insurgency. Well, you may even get kicked out of a regular fleet and find yourself wearing the UCV designator on day - who knows what time will bring...
