  1. Happy Birthday, Ep5!
  2. quote: From the Fleet FAQ In multiplayer, each side a set amount of resources. So, if a fleet only has 4 carriers, it is up to the leaders to give those advanced assets to the most deserving commanders, during the course of a career. Thus, once MP starts, we need to check resources, and reassign assets anyway. The rule I stated above is just a rule of thumb for roleplaying purposes. I assume that Leaders have access to flag ships, and that the MK3 series ships are of limited availability. Remember that in BC3K, everybody had access to a MK2. Those were the two reasons for this "rule of thumb". Best regards.
  3. Gentlemen, Remember to check the various threads, before you start to post anything. This thread, for example, if for general discussions, and idle chatter within Prime. Do no start new threads, except for very good reasons. Best regards. [ 10-13-2001: Message edited by: Thomas Siemens ]
  4. Jaguar, Rm: assets changed. At the moment, I use the following rule of thumb for Assets: Fleet Staff personnel, and Wing Leaders: Battlecruiser MK3. Everyone else: Battlecruiser MK2, or other asset, if asked for. Best regards.
  5. Done! All MIA commanders have been removed from the Fleet DB. Prime Fleet is down to 32 commanders. Compared to Orion Fleet (30 commanders), and the Insurgency (36 commanders) we still look good, and we still are the biggest fleet, I think. To those who have missed this roll call. Be advised! According to the SC, the Fleet DB registration will close on 2001-10-15. Best regards.
  6. (Second posting) updated...
  7. Remo, I like the (new?) look of the Fleet Structure. Some suggestions: Use n/a instead of Not Assigned. This may improve the readability. Invent some Hall of Fame, put it at the end, and move Commanders Tin, Faber, MajHavoc, and Pandora there. Clear the MIA list afterward. Best regards.

  10. Today is The Day! Okay, ladies, and gentlemen. Later today, in about 10 to 12 hours, I will purge the Fleet DB from all those MIA commanders. You have been warned... Best regards.
  11. quote: Originally posted by Soback: (...) in my eyes you give up your human rights and freedom when you decide to do something illegal and should not have any rights, an animal should have more rights then criminal and convicts do. Huh? My first thought when I read this was just: BS. Now I have calmed down a little. Well, let me clarify. Human rights are about that: humans. You just gave an example yourself. Excessive force by the police is wrong under any circumstance. You may put people in cells, you may force them to work (for the community by building roads and the likes), but you may not harm then physically, mentally or by soul. They are humans, and they keep being humans even if they decided to do somthing illegal. Btw., what is this something anyway? Something like rape, murder, flying planes into buildings, or something like stealing food, or stuff? Each of these things are deemed illegal, but not a single one of these things should get rid people of their human rights. You may sentence them to death, but until you kill them, they got their rights. Got that? If not, ask yourself if you are any better than the ones you accuse anything. Thanks! Best regards.
  12. I upgraded from a Voodoo 3 3000 (AGP) to a GeForce 2 Pro. Got, and solved a few problems with my old mainboard (switched from Gigabyte to Asus), and am now quite happy with the speed (3DMark 2001 went from about 1600 to 3500), and the new features (like bump maping or T&L). Go for it! Best regards.
  13. Huh, just ordered one! You say this was not real? Mike, you're really bored... Best regards.
  14. Prime Fleet - New Roll Call! Gentlemen, Please report in within the next week. This is urgent! Those who are not reporting in will be removed from the Fleet DB, which will close up registration on 2001-10-15. You have been warned! Oh, if some of you know of a fellow commander who is on vacation or the likes, please report in for him/her. Thanks. Best regards.
  15. Gareth, No problem by me. I am sure we will work something out. I also do not want to have ISS disbanded. It has been a proud fleet, ever! Even before I have been assigned Fleet Commander, you created, and lead, this part of GALCOM noone will ever want to miss. Oh, btw. we need a defense fleet. Now that the Insurgency seems to get stronger more than ever, the Earth, our very home, is in need of ISS. Just asked my Personnel Officer, Cmdr. Remo Williams, to contact you. Maybe Prime just lends some commanders to ISS, maybe we get them transfered. Whatever works best. Heh, and such transfers are okay, even if they seem medieval. Soldiers have to follow orders, that's their duty! Best regards.
  16. Concerning ISS Fleet, to be read here: quote: Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: I'm not going to disband ISSJust have some Prime (the largeest fleet) transfer some member to ISS. By my directive, it is so ordered. How many are transfered, is up to the FCs. Cmdr. Williams, please check our database for any commanders willing to join ISS. Make contact with Fleet Cmdr. DeSilva to ask him what kind of positions are availabe within ISS. Then anounce these positions. Oh, the SC also ruled to remove any commanders who are AWOL or MIA from the Fleets DB, to be read here. We need a list of those gentlemen belonging to Prime Fleet. We will not cast them out (yet!), but have to remove them from the DB. As soon as multiplayer is available, there will be a lot of new recruits, and the old ones surely will come back... Best regard.
  17. As you can read here, the SC has granted us kind of permission to move into star station Velari, Polaris 2: quote: Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Here is the excerpt from my email correspondence with Gudihl of 9-27-01 in which he was inquiring about Velari being changed and Epsilon Wing requesting to move in. Well, Polaris is declared mixed, neutral, and in BC3K, Velari used to be mul/tra. Now, in BC:M, you have set it to ter/mil. That is correct Now they think, because of this, Velari is GALCOM, and want to move in. I denied that request until further notice. I figured sooner or later someone would want to move in What happened to Velari? Why is it ter/mil now? Just a typo, or some outpost of GALCOM? Or something completely different? I am confused. If you recall from your BC3K history, that region is heavily contested and the Vesperons and Empirians are still fighting over it. Jump 10 yrs into the future, and the war caused the trading factions to go bankrupt - the VES/EMP war didn't help either. So, trading there suffered. As a result, the traders who owned it, sold it to the Terrans - who then turned it into a military outpost. The intent? Neither the Vesperons nor the Empirians can own it - as such, neither one has their goals for that region, satisfied. By making it a military outpost, the Terrans (who are still stuck in the middle of the Vesperon/Empirian conflict) can better maintain the peace in that region and ensure that those VES bastards don't finally find a way to link Polaris-2 to Frellis - thereby destabilizing the region and giving the Insurgents who have setup shop in Midae, a backdoor into Sol - ESPECIALLY - since they already have a launch point in Sygan (a pain in ass for GALCOM). Thats the new history, which I have yet to flesh out - but will do so sometime soon before multiplayer is out. Pass it on. Btw., I have attached the request, and my answer. If you want Epsilon Wing to move in there, thats fine (RPG or not). They can go ahead. Besides, thats how it will be in the multiplayer patch anyway. Might as well have a wing/fleet move in. HOWEVER, if they are going to roleplay this particular instance, they have to stick with the history as indicated above. They can work the E Wing move into that station, post-Terran takeover. No problem there. My only concern is that, I don't particularly want a wing assigned to a station, when in fact, usually, fleets (which consist of wings) are the designated assignees to stations. See my point? btw, fleets don't have to wait for GCO to RPG their stories in the game. I already said that I would be setting up fleet specific servers which the public won't have access to. I plan on doing just that. In fact, only *active* members of registered fleets will have access to the Beta servers (in addition to the official Beta testers of course) until the mp patch is final and released to the public. Okay, gentlemen. The SC assigned (read: did not explicitly deny the assignment of) Prime Fleet to Velari. Epsilon Wing has been assigned to Velari by Prime Fleet Staff, as requested by Cmdr. Remo Williams. One thing though - do you guys want to roleplay this, or not? Best regards. [ 10-01-2001: Message edited by: Thomas Siemens ]
  18. quote: Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Frankly, I don't have a frigging clue why Gudihl even wasted my time explaining it to him (re: Valari), yet, I don't see any word of it posted in any of the fleet forums. And people wonder why I just ignore such emails. Sorry, chief. I sent another email after that with some question about the matter, and I just wanted to wait for an answer to "go public". Also, there was no decision yet if there would be any RPGing involved, when Prime moves into Velari. Did not want to cause any stress... Best regards.
  19. quote: Originally posted by Badgerius: I imagine any new recruit would have to pass Through prime to get to any specialized fleet in Galcom. Why would anyone trained by Prime Fleet ever want to join another Fleet? Now, really. The (spezialized) fleets do their own recruitment, and they do their own training. Although Prime Fleet has some specialized groups, it's main directive is to fight in sheer mass combat. Not some dangerous covert operations behind enemy lines, but face-to-face combat, sometimes even more dangerous, with lots and lots of ships involved... Best regards.
  20. Heh, nice thought, but not at all true. GALCOM Academy is an old tutorial like project from Mano Faber, and Andrew Vogel to be found here: http://www.geocities.com/solarstriker/ This project has nothing to do with RPG IIRC, and any player type should find something in there. Best regards.
  21. quote: Originally posted by Cmdr Nova: Oh, boy. I say it's out when it's out (and shipped). How about that: it's here when it's here! Best regards.
  22. Whoa, nice! You guys are great! Keep on the good work.
  23. quote: Originally posted by Remo Williams: I just though it was up to the Wing Leader or Wing Staff to assign positions within there wing. If Fleet Cmdr. Gudihl wants me to make all assignments until the wings have there Personnel Officers I'll do it. Just didn't want to step on the Wing Leaders toes so to speak. Yes, you're right. Assignments within the wings are made by the wing's personnel officer, or its wing leader, if no personnel officer is availabe. The G1 Fleet Personnel Officer assigns new commanders to the wings (until they did the recruitment themselves), manages the inter wing transfers, and is responsible for the balance. He is also responisble for any promotions down to Wing Staff level. It is not his job to assign commanders to squadrons, or to promote to squadron leader, that's the job of the Wing Staff. Best regards. [ 08-26-2001: Message edited by: Thomas Siemens ]
