  1. quote:Originally posted by Urza: I've seen the credits to this film no less than thirty times. Cool, I was sitting there watching the credits until I noticed I was the only one left in the theater as usual (I always stay for the credits cause you never know what'll happen at the end of them) You know I totaly forgot about the monkey.
  2. Just saw the movie Thursday. GREAT. One question, did any of you who saw the movie stay for the credits? I know alot of people walk out at that point and time.
  3. Okay, I picked up Pirates Of the Carribean on saturday. May I say that this game is really good. If you liked the first Sea Dogs, you'll love this game even more. Alot more things to do island side. Actually, the island exploration reminds me alot of REDGUARD (another elder scrolls saga) Anyway, I don't know about those reviewers on Gamespot either the in-house or reader reviewers (sometimes I get the impression they are 11 years old and younger). The customize key setup is a breeze (contrary to many complaints). The only thing that is missing and is really needed is a mouse sensitivity adjustment. It can also use in the video options a brightness adjust. When it goes night, you can't see a damn thing if you are not in a town and even then it's really really dark. I had a few problems completing a quest all because it was night and I couldn't see what path on an island to take. Oh man the water in this game very SWEET. Years ahead of morrowind's water. The ship to ship fighting is awesome especially when you caught up in a storm and sea swells are yards high ooooo I'm getting sea sick again. I can't see this game playing on their min/recommended computer specs without it looking and running drop dead crappy rather than drop dead georgeous you would need a 1.3 ghz or faster and a video card that supports pixel shading and alot of horse power. But I'm still cheesed off at akella over the movie tie in only because they took out 6 campaigns and only gave 1 (the black pearl) and took out the option to play as a female. But other than that it's all SEA DOGS. I guess Disney didn't want another crappy movie tie-in game and the only pirate game that was in development and next to completion was Sea Dogs II so they threw some cash to Akella and made the deal. Can't blame it for that buisness is buisness I guess. Well enough said for me I highly recommend it. Can't wait for the player mods so when I'm done with the game I got more to look foward to still play. [ 07-15-2003, 10:59 PM: Message edited by: LostInSpace ]
  4. Well the infamous Resnig strikes again. We came across a race of Molecular changing aliens. Resnig went down as a diplomat. Needless to say they had a heated argument over something and Resnig flipped them the bird and they very displeased with this changed him into a form that would best suit his character On the down side the aliens promised they would change him back once the dogs are done doing their buisness... *Note there are no such aliens in BCMG (well not that I know of) they are used just as vehicle to pick on poor Resnig [ 07-14-2003, 11:12 PM: Message edited by: LostInSpace ]
  5. Here's another link with the entire development timeline of the entire Battlestar galactica saga to the present day http://members.cox.net/battlestar/history.htm
  6. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Just absolutely awesome!!! This is the second time this Summer that I'm awarding a high score to a movie. Johnny Depp is just absolutely perfect for this role. 2.5hrs and I wasn't bored *once* (Ang Lee, take note, and thanks for ruining Hulk, you bastard!) Gonna go see it again this weekend with the rest of the tribe. 10/10 I broke down today and picked up the game Sea Dogs II... doh! I mean Pirates of Carribean and it included a free ticket to the movie. You mean the movie is even worth a freebee... WOW
  7. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: ....gits without a clue OK, here is how the word Rubbish is explained rubbish n. Refuse; garbage. Worthless material. Foolish discourse; nonsense. Now add the words, complete and utter to this term, and you'll come up with complete and utter rubbish. Which describes this movie. 2/10 (just because Sean Connery and Peta Wilson are in it. They each get 1 star for effort and for even being in the movie). Damn, I was hoping it was at least passible. Oh well. When I first saw the commercial for it I said to myself "EH". The one thing that had me scratching my head was why League of extrodinary gentlemen when there's also a women involved in the troop.
  8. Yeah, I agree all valid view points. I myself don't know one way or the other. We shall see. I can see it now sitting there watching it and going "Oh my god what were they thinking". With so much fodder out there why Battlestar galactica, makes ya wonder sometimes. Why not Terminator the series, Matrix the series, Phone booth the series (a new phone booth victim every week), Equilibrium the series, phew so many to choose from .
  9. quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: Lost. we the citizens in vegas HAVE been trying to not allow this bill to pass! but we all knew this would happen.. the school budget was NOT suppost to be in there but the democrats sneaked that in. Our so called mayor used threats and hostigees *the schools* in order to get the supreme court of nevada to pass this bill =( But the fight is not over. You need to run that guy outa town the old fashioned way . Well at least all of ya's need to take to the street in mass and protest right in front of his house. And you Nevada citizens also need to email the hell outa the supreme court telling them you are all very, very, very, very upset at the tactics of this so-called mayor. Well you get the idea. Here's the site http://www.leg.state.nv.us/scd/OpinionListPage.cfm They list phones and addresses so whatever means at your disposal go for it and give em hell the american way.
  10. Okay, I found the original Sea Dogs II (A.K.A. Pirates of the carribean) trailer if anyone wants to get a peek at the game http://www.3dgamers.com/games/piratescaribbean/ scroll the screen down you'll see the file names sd2(small/full)_trailer.avi. From what I understand also that Sea Dogs II had 6 campaigns but now it only has one 1 campaign to fit in with the movie tie in. And it also appears that it's another game with the control scheme revamped for console first and PC second. Hmmm, so they've not only sold out they've scaled the game down and snubbed it's pc fan base (for which the game made it's mark in the first place) with crappy console controls. Why couldn't they just leave things the way it was suppose to be for the game instead of wasting the time to convert it for the movie tie in they could have spent that time developing Multi-player wow can you imagine what a game that would have made as multi-player. "Avast yee matey, I smells me fresh geek!" You know it's crap like this that makes me want to become a Pirate just outa GP especially when one reads a game description like this: *An epic role-playing game on land and at sea *Gorgeous graphics and realistic weather effects *Open-ended gameplay set in exotic locales *Exciting high seas battles and thrilling duels *Inspired by the feature film coming July 9th It's the last one that's irritating. This game was in development long before anyone ever concieved of the movie pirates of the carribean. More likely it was Sea Dogs (as well as the Monkey Island series remember the evil dead pirate LeChuck and his horde of skeleton pirates) that inspired the movie. 11. quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: ooh things are just going to get worse.. thats why my dad and I are planing on moving out oh well I only have one year of school left after that I won't have to worry about this place and yes we have millions of dollers that are not being used at all.. yet they turn there back and do this.. wtf ever happened to the constitution? I mean can't the US Supreme Court jump on this sense it was unconstitutional? Ummmmm, it's fairly much like that country wide like the old saying "You can run but you can't hide." I blame the citizens of this country for just sitting on their duffs and not getting tough with the politicians. I can only speak for NY state but the expenditures for the prison system is twice more than it is for education. That alone speaks volumes. And it's only going to get worse. quote: Originally posted by hellbinder: The whole thing is complete total BS. They make Billions of dollars a year in gambleing. THAT is the money they should be using to pay for education. Freaking pots of Gold everywhere and the Fools tax the middle class for schools... I was wondering about that myself. Where's all the taxes that generated from Las Vegas and and the tourists? Well they can't tax the poor they don't have the money (we support them for that) the rich guys won't get taxed cause they are the ones we keep putting into power and they are not gunna tax their own social class which includes themselves so there's only on section left the slap happy middle-class.
  12. quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Chavik: Here is an interesting opinion piece from Fool.com about music downloading and the RIAA. I've been saying that all along. I just happen to catch the tail end of a CNN interview last night. Can't remember the gentlemen's name but the gist of the entire article was about the record industry and downloading ruckus. He pointed out that since downloading is at an all time high concert sales have risen along with it. For the artist, that's not a bad thing because from what I understand is that the artist has to use his own money to front the tour to help promote his/her cd while the artist only makes $1-$2 per cd in profit. Anyway, what the article failed to mention is that RIAA is not going after the casual downloader but that guy or gal whose download massive amounts everyday and more than likely they are the ones making those illegal/bootled copies the ones that you see guys selling out the back of their van. That I don't condone making money like that without the blood, sweat and tears of making the cd. And don't forget about the issue of Artists ripping off other Artists without compensation as was the case with "The Verve" and now with "Dr DRE" to name just a few.

  14. quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: Looks like I'll be getting my games through the internet now =( Review Journal Tax Bill Story Well we tried to warn ya's. Have you noticed ever since they made cigarettes $6+ a pack all the states have been strugling with taxes all because the government wants to control people's habits. Everyone that smokes (That I know of including me) have been ordering the cigs online from Indian owned reservation cigarette distributors and they are tax exempt. They haven't stopped people smoking they just shifted the profit making somewhere else. So now your State government is gunna grope everyone in the state to recover the tax shortfalls. And from the looks of the way they are doing things in Nevada they've become pirates, not listening to their own citizens and even disreguarding the constitution. All I can say is "Anyone here in the mood for a good ol' fashioned Boston Tea party!" MARK TWAIN quote: "I don't want any of your statistics. I took your whole batch and lit my pipe with it. I hate your kind of people. You are always ciphering out how much a man's health is injured, and how much his intellect is impaired, and how many pitiful dollars and cents he wastes in the course of ninety-two years' indulgence in the fatal practice of smoking; and in the equally fatal practice of drinking coffee; and in playing billiards occasionally; and in taking a glass of wine at dinner, etc., etc., etc. . . . You never see but one side of the question. You are blind to the fact that most old men in America smoke and drink coffee, although, according to your theory, they ought to have died young; and that hearty old Englishmen drink wine and survive it, and portly old Dutchmen both drink and smoke freely, and yet grow older and fatter all the time. And you never try to find out how much solid comfort, relaxation and enjoyment a man derives from smoking in the course of a lifetime, (and which is worth ten times the money he would save by letting it alone,) nor the appalling aggregate of happiness lost in a lifetime by your kind of people from NOT smoking."

  16. quote:Originally posted by Cruis. In: i cant believe they didnt market the movie, whatd they do make it for fun? Yeah, makes ya wonder about that. That's why I have no sympathy for the movie execs when they cry poverty that P2P dloading is killing their industry. No I don't think so it's more like bone head decisions like the Equilibrium example. Reminds me of the good ol' shakespear phrase "The fault lies not in our stars but in ourselves."
  17. First off, there is so much space between the head costume gear and the actuall persons head is vast. There was no worry that he would hit her head. Second, I blame whoever put them in those costumes. Haven't they ever heard of protective gear. I mean everyone else is required to wear 'em like knee pads, helmets, elbow pads etc.. What were they thinking it was an accident waiting to happen. I swear when I watched the clip on the news it looked like most of them were going to take a spill even without the players interference. Those damn costumes are top heavy and very diffucult to manuver in. Anyway, I saw the girl today on CNN and she's laughing about the whole thing she's even getting a signed bat yes the same bat that whooped her one.

Never thought of doing that. Hmmm, maybe I'm not as evil as I thought . I could have used that technique a while back. Too bad Bush didn't think of that either could have had Saddam, Bagdad bob and the whole lot of them at each others throats that would have saved us from going to war it would have been just a mop up mission instead.

  22. quote:Originally posted by Sir John Falstaff: Looking at the specs for Generations...... Maybe you should open your own banking institution so we poor people can get a loan from you and buy a new computer? All I've got is this measly 1Ghz... I didn't consider it measly until I saw Generations. Must upgrade. Need new computer. "Will work for computer parts" Well all you really need is to upgrade the motherboard, Cpu, Memory. A 2gighz AMD Athlon xp 2000+ a new motherboard and the memory. I upgraded this past october to this. After tax, it came to $319. Looking at the prices now on these same items the AMD chip is now $72, the motherboard is now $76 and the memory Kingston 256mb is $42 the total now is $190 damn I should have waited a bit . I use this company now it's local to me but the prices were as good as the lower quotes from online sites. It was trade off of shipping or taxes the taxes made the price a little lower so I just went and picked up my order. But now they are offering free shipping on Hardrives and Memory and Cpu's for a limited time. Check them out http://www.essencompu.com they are located in queens, Ny so it's just a hop skip and jump for me here in NYC. $190 for basically new guts of your system is not bad at all even for us poor folk .

  24. quote:Originally posted by Sir John Falstaff: I am finding GMax to be quite fun. It has tutorials that help a lot. It has many more options than Milkshape and is much more powerful. I've got a design that looks much much better than my first childish design. I'm still tweeking on it and I have yet to learn how to skin it--it's just a blue shape right now, but it looks so much cooler than my first design in Milkshape. Well "MilkShape 3D is a low-polygon modeler" whereas GMAX being 3dsmax without the renderer is skies the limit where that is concerned but you are still restricted to how many polygons the particular game you are modeling for can handle without slowing the in game frame rate. As for how to do the textures in the max world, it's called the material editor usually the shortcut key is "m".
  25. quote:Originally posted by Fractux: I've got my old comp, a 1.4GHZ Athlon T-Bird underclocked, as it now just servers as a file server on the network. I've got it running at 600Mhz on a 100Mhz FSB. It was a frying pan at 1.4 Ghz, and now it won't let off as much heat, which needs to be managed in the summer. And seeing as the fan on the northbridge died, best to slow down the FSB so it doesn't get too hot either. Cheers! I had a Amdk6-233 mhz a while back that did the same thing you could fry an egg on the damn thing it got that hot and it wasn't even overclocked. Wonder if they just took a 166mhz and overclocked it themselves and sell it as 233.
