quote:Originally posted by street: quote:At the press conference they said it hit around 190/200mph!! Previously they said it was going to hit the ground at 9 mph with the chute, and that was enough to make the samples unusable. Now they claim, the samples may still be good? The article I read this morning said it hit at speeds in excess of 100 mph. Man, this is irritating, when you dont know what is ACTUAL. the good ole days, before the INTERNET, and the "information age", one could comfortably accept that the information presented, had some credibility. Now, (what is termed as FACT), can be so far stretched to extremes, from day to day..and sometimes from hour to hour.....one finds it hard to know WHICH fact has any resemblance to reality. This has become incredibly evident, the last 3 or 4 years. Oh well, back to the old addage: " I believe NOTHING I hear, and only HALF of that, which I see with my own eyes! The problem is that it's "We got the news first on that incident" Media. Even though, 95% of the information is wrong. But then, that gives them a couple more air time slots or print slots to fill for the story as they correct the information. You just gotta wait for a day to get the right figures. Actually on top of the space station idea maybe they should have had a couple of choppers hanging around with nets instead of hooks just in case the chute didn't open so they can at least give a shot at scooping it out of the air. Even at that speed it would have been worth the attempt.

A modified helicopter -- with a winch, hydraulic capture pole and hundreds of feet of line -- will follow the capsule by radar until it moves in and snags the parafoil. Because the Genesis capsule must repressurize in the upper atmosphere, scientists want to minimize the sample's exposure to air and possible contamination.

Just saw video clips from inside the school on Wb11 news channel. I'm sorry but there is no one to blame but those terrorists. People got to stop blaming this person or that. That's what the terrorists want us to do and it's gotta stop. I tell ya that video clip was just disgusting to watch no matter what your political gripe is that is just wrong.

I tried out the game at a friends house and call me crazy not only the above mentioned references to Half life but are the main menu click sounds the same as half life (or at least close)? I think they do.

1: 8mm is much narrower than VHS and the audio and video are recorded differently also and the two formats load into the player/recorder at different positions. In other words, nope there are no adapters to play 8mm tape on VHS vcr's. I don't think there are any 8mm vcr's either. You either would have to purchase a new camera or if you know someone who has a camera ask them if they could transfer the tapes to a VCR for you.

This is one of the best summaries I have read about Bush's speech at the republican convention Ramesh Pannuru: I take Bush's aides seriously when they say that the point of the convention was less to get a "bounce" in the polls ÔÇö although they would like that, of course ÔÇö than to lay the foundation for a successful fall campaign. President Bush's speech Thursday night may not have been inspiring. But it methodically built on his strengths and shored him up where he has been weak. I also just saw the author of the above write up on C-span's Washington Journal and I must say his talk to the host and his answers to all the different phone calls was pretty sound. If you can catch the repeat of this broadcast I suggest you do so. If you don't catch it, you might be able to here C-span's Washington Journal.

quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Here comes another rat bashing sci-fi MMORPG. Dear God, make it stop. I can't wait to see if anyone can actually botch an MMO game based on a well known franchise property, than Lucas did with SWG. Everyone else seems to be jumping or has at least jumped once into the MMORPG arena. It's only logical that Star Trek give it a wack. Ugh, did I say logical? Dang you Mr. Spock you got me talking like ya.

quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: Here Go here!! Did you see the video feed on the news last night (namely BBC news). They showed some of the unused homemade bombs. Made with plastic soda bottles and filled to the brim with all sorts of nasty shrapnel type stuff like nuts and bolts. Designed to inflict the most when detonated. This was a well planned out attack on these children. Really disgusting in my book. It's time for the world to wake up and give these people what they need. Time to inflict a Jihad on them. Then let's see who'ss standing afterwards. Not them I can tell you. quote:Originally posted by Nomad: That's exactly the move the terrorist are trying to induce. Then they have no recruitment problems anymoreLike they are having one now? There will always be someone who feels religiously, economicaly and politicaly repressed even in a free society. It is more the lack of resolve or backbone (whatever you want to call it) in the world that keeps fostering terrorists. quote:Originally posted by nomad: You do not solve matters with crocodile tears, indignation, rage, name calling or indiscriminate violence.Exactly, but that's what these Chechen terrorist are doing. By going after children that is called "indiscriminate violence". The Russians should not negotiate until Chechnya puts an end to these terrorists. I will say this again. You attack political and military targets NOT CHILDREN!

quote:Originally posted by Scrivener: It's the end of the world. I just know it. Nah. But it will reek havock with the tax payers again since we will be bearing the brunt of this storm in emergency funding. Also, insurance premiums will go up too after this one.

quote:Originally posted by street: already been tried... They do as I would do...if standing against an unconquorable and oppressive ENEMY. An enemy who has NO intention of negotiating(THIS is what brought it to this level), or releasing its oppresive force. You do what you CAN...to inflict ANY AND ALL harm upon them that you can....and EMBRACE the inevitable. When you remove ALL options, other than DEATH...Your enemy will embrace it, if only to take you with him. If one cannot comprehend this, then buying into the "GOOD GUY" russian theory, and the USSR's RIGHT to oppress others...is what One CHOOSES. Go for it, but in MY book....those who fall for such propaghanda, are the REAL IDIOTS!! I'm sorry but knowingly targeting children in this way is just (explitive) cowardly and shows the true moral fiber of these chechens. I have no gripe with them wanting seperation from Russia but there are other ways as you have stated yourself in other posts in regards to Bush.

quote:Originally posted by street: quote: Well, they started shooting hostages so Russian troops stormed the school. They have shot dozens, maybe hundreds. Reason with that street, you are a complete #$^$@& So now I'm the bad guy, because a group of radicals killed the children of a GROUP of "RULE BY FORCE", socio-communist? You must be one of the brightest people on the planet!! You and bush, must be stroking each other, for confirmation, that your NOT BOTH complete #$^@& s!! Then they should declare open war with the Russians and have the adult men and woman fighting it not killing children to get a solution to their problems. At least target adult facilities and keep the children out of it that way. Don't these terrorists know killing children will only enrage the Russians and will stiffen Russia's resolve. A little Chechen and Russian history

I have a feeling you are right Scrivener. Knowing how publishers work and their magical christmas season release, it makes sense. We've waited this long what's a few more months. Besides, I already own the game anyway I'm just waiting to redeem my ATI voucher.

I love this part:John McCain unleashed the big guns on Michael Moore last night, unleashing pent-up partisan fury on the Bush-bashing filmmaker as he sat in the hall. The hightlight of the day: That was no ordinary speech Rudy Giuliani gave the faithful last night. It was the essence of the Republican case, both for George W. Bush and against John Kerry. I watched his whole stint last night and I do hope Giuliani runs for president in the near future. Perhaps if Hillary decides to run for that position, Giuliani would be the one to stop her from getting there.

I was waiting for someone to post about this. I saw the news about it the other day when they closed shop here in NY.

The company should announce a road map for Longhorn, its revision to Windows XP, later on Friday. The changes will allow the company to meet its most recent timetable: to have a beta version ready by next year and a final release for 2006.

You gotta start feeling sorry for these guys. They seem to be getting hit in every orifice: Half-Life 2 (not) gold Monday? :Valve impostor drops a golden bomb on the Half-Life 2 Fallout forums; stalwart site operators get to the bottom of the hoax.
