  1. Microsoft published on Tuesday a patch for a major security flaw in its software's handling of the JPEG graphics format and urged customers to use a new tool to locate the many applications that are vulnerable. The critical flaw has to do with how Microsoft's operating systems and other software process the widely used JPEG image format and could let attackers create an image file that would run a malicious program on a victim's computer as soon as the file is viewed. Because the software giant's Internet Explorer browser is vulnerable, Windows users could fall prey to an attack just by visiting a Web site that has affected images.

I played the Rome TW demo and the game rocks. I'm not much into strategy games but the few that have been coming out recently have been quite good and Rome TW is one of them.
  3. And the Meltdown Continues Top Dem Rips Kerry Campaign and you want this guy to run our country?! He can't even handle his campaign.
  4. Channel 2's info on the Bush Documents Marion Carr Knox is 86 years old, and completely comfortable in the eye of a storm. She spent more than two decades keeping pilots and officers in line at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston. Now, she wants to set the record straight about the memos that CBS News obtained. But there is a twist. ÔÇ£I did not type those memos. And itÔÇÖs not the form I would have used. And there are words in there that belong in the Army, not to the Air Guard. We never used those terms,ÔÇØ says Knox. ÔÇ£I know that I didnÔÇÖt type them. However, the information in those is correct.ÔÇØ Knox says she didnÔÇÖt type these memos, but she says she did type ones that contained the same information. Knox says the information in the four memos that CBS obtained is very familiar, but she doesn't believe the memos are authentic. She does, however, remember her boss, Col. Jerry Killian, being upset over Mr. Bush's failure to take a physical. And to top that off 60 Minutes will continue to aggressively investigate the story of President Bush's service in the National Guard -- and the story of the documents and memos in Col. Killian's file. Where's the aggressive reporting about Kerry's service!? The media should put pressure on Kerry to sign the 180. The same way it is pressuring Bush. 5. 31)Blade Runner (original version w/ voiceovers) I agree with you 100% on that. The director cut just doesn't cut it with me. Sure it was the studio that made Ridley Scott add the voice overs (because they thought that the movie goers would need some help with it), I thought the voice over added alot to the movie and story. I just wish on the DVD instead of giving you the 4:3 version on one side and the 16:9 version on the other was a waste. The DVD should have had both version Scott's Directors Cut and The Original Cut. I have only question 7) The Prisoner (TV Show) what that heck is that doing in a listing of Five Star Movies? It is an excellent TV show but it's TV. 1: A ClockWork Orange 2: Blade Runner 3: 2001:A space Odyssey 4: Pink Floyd the Wall 5: Amadeus 6: Brazil 7: Dark Star (that quirky movie by then film students John Carpenter (holloween) and Dan O'bannon (Alien) ) 8:Alien 9:Aliens 10:Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back 11:Star Trek: Wrath of Khan 12:Heavy Metal 13:Ghost in the Shell 14:Leon (known in the US as The Professional) 15:Monty Python and the Holy Grail 16:Odd Couple 17:Mr. Roberts 18:Torra, Torra, Torra. 19:The Pink Panther (any of them) 20:Cyrano De begerac (Jose Ferrer) 21:Roxanne (modern remake of Cyrano starring Steve Martin) 22:Dirty Dozen 23:Patton 24:Ben-Hur 25:Uninvited 26:Altered States quote:Originally posted by Hellbinder: Not seen yet....... 1)Brazil Go rent it. 6. How many of you remember Red Baron by Dynamix? Well, I use to play that game alot. I'd boot up the computer, execute the game, turn on my industrial fan, throw on my scarf and fly my WWI era plane using an actual flight yoke (don't remember the company that made it) with the wind a howling and my neck scarf fluttering... Okay, back to the real world , here's a promising looking game Wings of War. that might come close. If anyone has played this game, how is it?
  7. Oh my god another spelling error dammit!! Competion what the hell is that!? I meant to say competition. Anyway, Street, I guess what they say about Texas is correct: "Everything is bigger" including prices I guess. Do you live in a rural part of Texas? The reason I'm asking is that's what the USF is suppose to be for is to help you guys in rural under-populated areas afford online connections (well from libraries to individuals that is). IF you do, and you ain't benefiting, where the hell is that money going to? Like that state smoking tax I watched the ABC report on that do you know that smoking tax is suppose to go to health care and smoking awareness do you know what one instance of that was spent by New York State for a brand new golf course ( I know this is sounding like it belongs in the political thread but these Dems here in NY State make me mad!!).
  8. Goes to show people need to do their own research on this matter and not listen to the fear mongering Mainstream Media. And people call Bush a fear monger. The media also has a motive to hype the fear up to help Kerry out again. But we all know that, right?
  9. Speaking of speed. I just got an upgrade from verizon to 1.5mips (T1 speed) from my old 768k connection at no extra cost. I could have gone 3.0mips for 10 bucks more but I want to see how this speed is. Gotta love the free market and competion. To bad Time-Warner cable still hasn't woken up to this. They still charge the same $50 for the same service and the same is true for their cable TV service. Between all the DirectTV Dishes that have popped up around my neck of the woods and Verizon DSL with their deals, Time-Warner must be hurting but they still don't seem to be bending and lower their rates due to the competition those arrogant(explitive). BTW: I'm only paying $30 for this DSL now (was the same as cable in the begining but the prices have come way down) oh plus $5 for that (explitive) USF (universal service fee) so that's $35 still cheaper than $50 for Time-Warners RoadRunner.
  10. Here's an example of some satellite photos WTC Before and After 9/11. This site has a whole bunch load of other images. Here's one of Mt. Saint hellen Image. Looks like something on Mars than on Earth. Here's an interesting one Natanz Iranian Nuclear Facility.
  11. Since there were suppose to be celebrations in NK I'd say it could have been fireworks that went boom have a look Fireworks Factory. I originaly posted this link in my Resnig Biography in the humor thread. But it goes to show what a wallup a bunch of fireworks have.
  12. Well let's take a look at this fact. The first WTC bombing. What happened after? Sure they caught some of the so called perpetrators of this act. What else did the Clinton administration do? Nothing! He had the ball placed in his hand to toughen INS laws and regulation but didn't. The INS system still remained a shambles. He also had the opportunity to bring all agencies together but didn't. Also to beef up Airport security checks and didn't. If only clinton reacted for the first WTC attack the way Bush did for the second attack, 9/11 would have been a hell of a lot harder to pull. The signs were there. Every one knew that these terrorist wanted to take down those towers. But no plan was ever proposed or executed by Clinton to prevent such future attacks.

  14. quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: Bush's stupidity? Bush wasn't the one who started up a campaign for Saddam back in the 1990 Clinton along with the UN where the one's who made Iraq a bigger threat, NOT Bush That's why the terrorists would love nothing better than have a democrat in office so they can go about with impunity as they did for eight years under clinton.
  15. Yeah, I can't wait for Gothic 3 either. Played the first one when it was considered an underdog. The second one rocked. Third one can only be better.
  16. It's made it to CNN CNN: Authenticity of Bush Guard memos questioned. But you notice instead of attacking the issue of those forgeries they degenerate back to Bush. Not one question about who would have done this or why. Typical....

Armageddon!!! Is your answer. That was a fun game. Tac the game was DOS 1989. I spent many an hour playing the original populous. Even Populous: The Begining I really enjoyed and still do from time to time. GAMESPOT: Populous: The Beginning has enough innovation to make it more than just a run-of-the-mill real-time strategy game. It isn't really Populous, but it's a solid game with some interesting twists and features.
  18. Yup, alot of those acient practices had alot of merrit to them. I knew about the blood letting some time ago after seeing a PBS show don't remember if it was NOVA or some other program. I think they brought it up because, if I'm not mistaken, was about the heart. The blood letting actually reduced the Iron in your system. High levels of Iron can cause heart problems. "High levels of iron can be toxic. Experts warn that supplements should not be used to treat anything but iron-deficiency anemia and avoided by anyone with heosiderosis, a precursor to hemochromatosis (some 1 million people in the US or even more may have this hereditary disorder in which the intestines absorb too much iron."
  19. It's that fact that CBS touted them as being authentic "They were doubtless swayed by the fact that CBS said " '60 Minutes' consulted a handwriting analyst and document expert who believes the material is authentic." ". They should have, as the article states above, made a concerted effort to get a second opinion. Not to mention the fact that they knew they were frauds and looked straight faced as they proclaim the authenticity of those documents while licking their chops. I wonder how they are going to worm out of this one.
  20. Looks like this guy has had enough
  21. These guys just don't know when to call it quits and looks like they are still grasping at straws. I dunno watching that video it seems more like someone is behind the camera pointing a gun at Ayman al-Zawahri to read that statement. He doesn't look at all like he wants to be there. But that could be just me. CAIRO, Egypt ÔÇö Usama bin Laden's (search) chief deputy proclaimed the United States will ultimately be defeated in Iraq and Afghanistan in a videotape broadcast Thursday that appeared to be a rallying call for Al Qaeda ahead of the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
  22. SAN FRANCISCO--The Internet needs to be upgraded with a new layer of abilities that will deal with imminent problems of capacity, security and reliability, Intel Chief Technology Officer Pat Gelsinger said Thursday Gelsinger pointed to PlanetLab, an experimental network that sits on top of the Internet, as a step in the right direction. Hewlett-Packard and Intel have begun work trying to commercialize the project, which was started in 2002, in order to overlay the Internet with intelligence and adaptability. And the Public Broadcasting Service will use Planet Lab to broadcast high-definition TV shows, Gelsinger said in a speech here at the Intel Developer Forum.
