I know he's directing that response at KALSHION (which I thought was more informative and a warning than destructive) and I thought I helped him out apparently not I guess. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Game programmer, huh? About the : Those of us on this board have a simple rule never respond to posts of those that have not setup their accounts properly IE System profile and/or that are antagonistic. Also, this is a tech issue and should be posted there not here. I know I'm breaking this rule but I just can't help myself this time. You mention you have the latest NVIDIA drivers but nowhere do I see you mention what Nvidia card you have (the reason why we setup and post our system configuration so the tech people can isolate the problem). Secondly, if you did a search of the board, look at the top right of your IE screen you will see a menu my profile login | register | search | faq | forum home you would have found some info that might have been of help before you made your post I set the navitron toward LV103 and engage the auto pilot. I ready 5 marines for combat and sit back and watch the show. As I approach the hyperspace gate at Kruger in the Omega Centauri system the CTD happens. and here is the respose to this from SC You're sure you're not running the 1.00.02 patch with a 1.00.01 saved game? Are you loading a saved game from a previous version? BTW: I have an Audigy Platinum and UC works fine with it. [ 06-21-2004, 02:51 AM: Message edited by: LostInSpace ]

No problem to me as I've already completed the tutorial but I think it can be an useful info. Just to let you know. Same here. I never use quick save. But since SC has laid the foundation of doubt as to pressing Alt-q or Alt-g I wouldn't stake my life on it. Anyway, the saved games are gone none the less after applying the patch 2.00.11. Well I and those who have the same issue are to blame for not putting the saved game files in a safe place (a backup directory or such). I forgot to do that. . Ah, no biggie since I really hadn't done much in single player as of late. Probably the reason why I wasn't to concerned about the saved game files since I am fairly diligent in that. Remember to back up your save game files

Remember, you cannot ALT+E from a fighter in space, only on a planet and while landed in TAXI state. And why didn't you just use Tacops to order your CC to stop, then target it and ALT+D to dock the fighter? As for the ship name you know it's been taking a while for people to pay attention to the name. I've been using it for a week or so all of a sudden out of a clear blue sky I get a message in the chat about it. I forgot about that exit business. I went into the fighter with a space suit and thought I could exit the same way (since I didn't just have a flight suit). Ah, so I just blamed it on the melting hull. Also, no one else was able to see my ship on fire. That's the reason why I took the screen shot to show em. I was using the Tacops alot during this but dang it if I can't remember if I tried that. Me and the others tried just about everything else just to see if we can. BTW: I added a link to the previous post you might want to check out. -

Hmm, not sure if this goes here but... Misadventures in multiplayer: Well, saturday June 12th I entered server 3. Jamotto and Khan were in attendance. All was going pretty well took out some NPC's more showed up and I sent my fighters out. Well after the first battle (of the four fighters) FC-1 blew up and lost communication with another FC-4. So, I located FC-4 and hypered to the craft. The fighter crew was dead but the ship was intact with fire spewing out of the bottom of it. Instead of ordering a shuttle craft to go and tow the fighter back, I decided to take matters into my own hand. I left my CC (GVC-The Pride of Resnig) and merrily entered the Fighter. Well that was a mistake. Most of the systems were destroyed and I could not exit the craft or even move. After much thought, I ordered my CC to tow the fighter with me in it to the procon starbase. The others met up with me there. I disengaged the tractor so the others could help. However, I could not even issue an SOS. Jamotto decides to leave his CC and try and push me. The fighter's hull finaly gave out and I went boom. Thus ending this embarrasment. Here are the highlights: Jamotto External View Fighter On Fire Jamotto Photo Op Jamotto EVA You have to rename this to jamotto_eva.RAR. It contains the full pics of jamotto's EVA including a self running slide show. (sorry for posting this link late I was having trouble getting it to my site. for some reason it was transfering the RAR file in ascii mode. I haven't used WS_FTP in a while so I just renamed the RAR file to a ZIP which automatically transfers in binary.) Enjoy...... [ 06-14-2004, 08:29 AM: Message edited by: LostInSpace ] -
And the fact that they've been fairly low key about the movie in the first place, you know all the pre hype like star wars and the ilk. Gives me a lot of faith that they haven't screwed it up. (keeping fingers crossed). As for the trailer music, alot of times they use music that's only in the trailer or commercials to give them more umph. Take Big Fish they used one of YES's songs "I've seen all good people" on one of the commercials but it wasn't in the movie (correct me if I'm wrong). They way I always figured about planet LV17 (since seeing the first one when it originally came out back in '79) is that some other happless ship came across it first and had the same results but wasn't worth a movie because they got wiped out in fifteen minutes. You know the old addage "If you don't succeed, try try again". Or, the signal was picked up by company long range probes.

You are right though I wasn't thinking and I just posted this without doing a search. I had just gotten off the phone with my nephew who saw the Riddick movie yesterday telling me how Kick A$. that movie was. But, that wasn't why he was calling. He called me to tell me he saw the trailer for AVP the movie. He's been waiting for that movie along time as well as I. But your memory is pretty good there is this Movie Trailers Galore. When I posted that, the trailer for AVP was just a real skimpy teaser and the offical site was even more skimmpier. However, it wasn't it's own topic. I hope that gets me off the hook (this time at least) .

More companies are using the threat of Linux when negotiating deals with Microsoft, one of the company's senior executives has admitted. and there is this Microsoft file patent faces exam "In April, the Public Patent Foundation asked the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to revoke a patent that covers the FAT (File Allocation Table) file system--the older of two main systems used by Windows to store files. Last year, Microsoft said it was seeking to license the FAT patent on reasonable terms as part of a broader push toward sharing its intellectual-property portfolio with the industry. The FAT file format has become a common means of storing files not just on computers but also on removable flash memory cards used in digital cameras and other devices. It is also used by the open-source Samba software that lets Linux and Unix computers exchange data with Windows computers, and by Linux itself to read and write files on Windows hard drives. Some have worried that Microsoft may claim that Linux infringes on Microsoft patents and will seek a royalty. Any monetary compensation could threaten the operating system, which under General Public License (GPL) terms may not be distributed if it contains patented technology that requires royalty payments." oh yeah and this Microsoft goes on a 'myth-busting tour' From the talk today, it seems that Microsoft have appreciated the difficulty of persuading the passionate Linux folk. One Microsoft exec described the anti-Microsoft feelings as a "jihad." I guess the giant has awakened and is on the prowl now. [ 06-12-2004, 02:25 AM: Message edited by: LostInSpace ]

Okay, now everyone has been scratching their heads for a long time how Resnig became the man that he is today. Here is the first ever exclusive early biography of the man. Aww what a sweet moment. Resnig as a toddler spending a nice sunny day out with his grandmother. Resnig and his dad bonding Resnig, now older and little more weightier, tries his hand at diving Just a few years after that nasty knock on the head and still a bit weighty he tries his hand at the entertainment industry. Well that didn't go quite as expected. Well what to do now he ponders. Let's try sports. Give diving another shot this time in a foriegn country. Again that didn't go quite as expected. So what next? Ah, soccer! Poor Resnig can't seem to catch a break. Active participation in sports behind him he tries out for a Soccer Ref job but the head knocks have taken their toll. Needless to say his relationships haven't gone all that great either. Well he learned his lesson from that episode. Down on his luck in every sense of the word and poor he needs to resort to extreme methods of economizing. Hearing of his son's constant misfortunes, his father sends him a video greeting (which was subsequently used in a cigar commercial submitted by his father). Needless to say, that video disturbed him greatly. He goes to use his newly aquired Glactic Holo-Ham radio to see what's going on in the great expanse of space. Well that was the straw that broke the camels back and thus begins his hatred for Aliens. Gotta do something about this! So what better than to join Galcom. He recieved his fist promo recruitment video. He liked what he saw so he orders a second promo video. HOOORAH! Sure he can do that!! So he runs right to Galcom HQ. He leaves the recruitment office very happy and ready for some action. The brass were not very pleased. To say he didn't start on the right foot is an understatement and this is where he wound up after that infamous incident. Even his bunk mates give him grief. Unfortunately this knock on the head occured the same day he was to take his first duty in a munitions dump. Slowly he started gaining respect from his peers by signing up for dangerous duties. Why fight his destiny he thinks. He even test flies Galcom's brain storm of Non-Jetpack marine arial attack. Well with his new found respect he gains access to fighters. Wise choice? Still can't seem to get it. After those two stunts he get's transfered to ship duty. Needless to say he ends up on this tub. Well now I hope we can understand Resnig a whole lot better. Too be continued........... [ 06-11-2004, 11:27 PM: Message edited by: LostInSpace ]
