  1. Too bad, Sho. I had fun flying in your slot.
  2. I go to bed. But I don't sleep.
  3. Wait. It's Friday.

I'd post it here but the sarcasm in the post would probably get me booted off 3000AD.
  5. 1. Session you're going to attend: Sunday, 2200hrs; other sessions if possible. 2. Your commander name: Marvin. 3. Your asset name: GCV-Asimov or A/R. 4. Your preferred asset type: Megaron or A/R.
  6. Cargo pods make great targets for your fighter pilots.
  7. Normally, Remo will assign you to one of the active wings after you pass your checkride. Promotion is determined by a number of factors including your performance at the Academy (e.g. completing your assignments on time), your performance in multiplayer, and your participation at the Prime Fleet forum.
  8. Btw, Sunday, 2200hrs GMT seems to be getting the best turn-out. Last Saturday was pretty much a bust ... early Sunday was a bit better. And about GMT: it isn't really GMT ... at least, not during the summer months. As Gordon pointed out to someone who should know better, "real" GMT isn't adjusted for Daylight Savings Time. But (as I replied), according to Bill Gates, everybody is on Daylight Savings so it's best to just ignore the oversight and say, for example, that Eastern Time (Daylight or not) is GMT minus (-) five hours. Or, as Gates' clock puts it (in WinXP): (GMT-5:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada).

I like it. But will us old geezers still be alive by the time it's done?
  10. As far as I'm concerned, you can use the new Cadet syllabus, available at the Academy section of the Prime Fleet website. Unfortunately, the appendix is missing from the downloadable version -- partly because it contains data specifically written for instructors. The instructor part of the appendix can be emailed to authorized personnel ... coordinate with Remo and, if he approves, he can let me know where to send copies. I suggest you read over the syllabus first, though ... it might not meet your needs -- all training takes place in the multiplayer environment. One note about your FAQ: for those of us who take the time to actually read, it'll be a good thing to have. But, even with a search engine of its own, be prepared for a lot of new guys to just say, "The heck with it" and, instead, ask the usual, "How do I ...."

  12. I believe this is the link to the freebie version. Look around ... it's somewhere on the page. If you back up one page, to "SH2 Pacific Aces," you should find more links to various add-ons/changes to the patch.
  13. 1. Both 2. Marvin 3. Asimov/Heart o' Gold 4. Megaron/Warmonger or any FC
  14. Okay, people ... you have until 15 August to make your presence known. Sign in with a hearty reply and shake the walls of Prime Fleet HQ. Mixed metaphores allowed.
  15. Actually, the torch is more a symbol of academic institutions (see my sig, below). For stealth and covert operations, charactertures of the old radio hero "The Phantom"* has been in vogue for quite awhile. For example, check out the background image on this page for a reasonable facsimile. If he looks a lot like the old Mad Magazine "Spy vs Spy" ... well, I suppose it's intentional. * Edit: In the costume he wears while roaming the cities of "civilized" men ... trenchcoat buttoned, collar up, wide-brimmed hat pulled down over glinting eyes. Yeah, he looks like "The Shadow" dressed that way ... and most of you probably know him from the comic page of newspapers. But you get the idea, I hope. 16. quote:Originally posted by Zane Marlowe: If you have guys who aren't interested in participating, then I'm afraid I can't use them any more than you can.Shucks. Anyway, I followed your instructions and realized the FAQ page was already being displayed. My mistake.
  17. Okay, looking at what I see above, we'll keep the 2200hrs GMT time for both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday morning, on the other hand, sees the least action of all ... so let's cancel it. Sunday morning gets a little more action but 1600hrs GMT is getting tough on the old bones ... so let's move that one to 1700hrs. To reiterate: Saturday [*]2200hrs GMT Sunday [*]1700hrs GMT [*]2200hrs GMT When you show up, let me know if it would've been better had we started an hour earlier or later, or the day before, or last weekend, or whatever.
  18. quote:Originally posted by Ben Zwycky: Zane's work (or derivatives of it) as some fleet medals to be awarded to individual commanders for oustanding performance in mp or rp or something. Would you get to "wear" those medals in your sig? If so, shouldn't they be GalCom medals ... I don't know of any military wing that has its own medals? If not, I suppose you could post them in the Fleet DataBase ... but the GalCom arguement still holds.
  19. Zane, Your link sent me to a page that doesn't go anywhere but I get the idea. The Prime Fleet Academy page has a window with this in it. Does that do you guys any good? All the links on that page are current ... you could just change the colors to reflect your own web style. As for farming out our cadets ... right now, we send the tardy ones to Kal's Boot Camp. If you like, I could divert them to your fleet, instead.

  21. Copy and paste time. Hotmail, here I come.
  22. No problem, Papi. I guess when you live where the sun hovers in the sky all day and night, you can lose track of time. Denny, how is Saturday for you?
  23. Note: normally, this would be a PM but I'd like to keep this thing coordinated with eveyone involved. Denny, how much time do you need for dinner? And how late can you stay up on a Sunday? Or is Saturday a better day? Okay, now for the coordination part: How about for everyone else? This last weekend, the best show-times were 2200hrs GMT on Saturday and 1600hrs GMT on Sunday. How about leaving the Saturday time as is and changing Sunday to 1700hrs GMT ... for those on the west coast who can't manage to wake up before 8 a.m.? And cancel the other two times? Mrxknown, if you can't make either of those, let me know ... we can still go with 1900hrs for one session and either cut Denny out or let him join with a full stomach, halfway into it. To summarize, who can make the following: [*]1900hrs GMT? [*]1700hrs GMT? [*]2200hrs GMT? [*]1600hrs GMT?
  24. I'm thinking about reducing next week's training schedule to one mission per day. Say, around 1900 hours GMT. Will that help to increase the number of players at one time? Btw, it was a fruitful meeting we had, today, with Chavik and ShoHashi. Results should be posted soon. My regrets for not keeping a closer eye on the clock ... the meeting ran over and I missed the 2200hrs GMT rendezvous on TeamSpeak. The next round is on me.
  25. Four new screen shots for Silent Hunter III.
