  1. Zane, I don't think you're gonna be able to restrict an on-line, real-time battle to turn-based rules and regulations. If you do, I predict you'll have a lot of commanders wandering around in their "designated" zones, arguing about who goes next, and laughing their butts off. One of the great tactical axioms is, "He who hesitates is lost," but, when the game is unrealistically turn-based, "He who hesitates" can take as long as he needs. Command leaders of quick and decisive action need not apply.
  2. Kal, Good luck with the cat. I received you PM reply to an earlier message and intended to reply, in turn. But your mailbox is full.

  4. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Did you read the VCF for this patch? Yessir. That's where I got the idea that I'd find a station in the NZone. I'll go back into the region today, when the GCV Asimov is fully operable, and check. If they're there, I'll assume Resnig was in charge of repairs yesterday and he messed up all my external sensors. If they aren't, I'll reinstall the game.
  5. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Ah, OK. Thanks. I was going over there to see if I had missed any comments about the new station distribution in the latest patch. Last night, while deploying a shuttle for mining, an NPC snuck up and left me with 14% hull and very few operational systems. Using the deployed shuttle, I ordered it to tow me to the NZone, where I thought I'd read about a new station. But it wasn't there ... or, at least, I couldn't find it.
  6. The following senior cadets are required to complete only the task(s) as indicated prior to graduation. Cadet Most: Final exam. Cadet DennyMala: Checkride (MP) and final exam. Patrik Vanda: Checkride (MP) and final exam. Contact me for further instructions. P.S. Welcome to all the new cadets.
  7. quote:Originally posted by Clifton Laird: Billions of credits worth of hardware and human (or alien) life gone in a heartbeat because some AI commander decided to jump his warmonger next to a hostile base.Someone of Resnig's mentality can be found on most any ship. Usually, if it's a megaron, the Tactical Officer can engage the cloak before a Resnig-like officer orders his ship to attack a star station. Then again, if you read some of the N00b posts, suicidal attacks in a craft the size of a warmonger isn't restricted soley to AI commanders. As a cadet, I've tried it myself.
  8. See, Remo, I wasn't crazy. Not completely, anyway. From the TeamSpeak website: quote:Background As of about a week ago, many users within the Teamspeak community informed us of a possible virus issue -- specifically with the "keypress.dll" file which is installed by the Teamspeak client. The Problem Since we were informed of this issue the Teamspeak Team has been heavily involved in trying to determine the accuracy of this claim. After rigorous internal testing and numerous phone calls into all of the major antivirus companies including Symantec (Norton Antivirus), Network Associates (McAfee), and Trend Micro, NONE of these companies can verify NOR deny that a virus actually exists in "keypress.dll". To the best of our collective knowledge, it is so far more likely that this is a "false positive" -- meaning that the antivirus application is finding data in keypress.dll that LOOKS like the same sort of data found in an infected file containing the Trojan "PWS-Wexd" (virus)...even though the file is most likely not infected at all. If you are still truly concerned that this may actually be a virus, please try visiting the following link: http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp...&virus_k=100476 This URL contains detailed information on the PWS-Wexd Trojan, including a section on "indications of infection" -- which we have meticulously verified so far do NOT exist on anyone's supposed infected computer. The Solution At this time we have put together a new Teamspeak client installation executable which you may download from: ftp://teamspeak.krawall.de/releases/ts2_client_rc2_2032.exe Simply shutdown your Teamspeak client if it is running and re-install Teamspeak using this executable right on top of your existing installation and the problem should go away. It is NOT necessary to first uninstall your existing Teamspeak client and you will also NOT lose your current Address Book and other client settings.Note: The link at the website for the new DL might not work. If it doesn't, try the one in the quote above ... it was taken from a part of the TeamSpeak forum and worked for me. That is, unless whoever installed the Trojan has now shut down the authentic links and redirected to another trojan patch. Hmmmm. N/J.
  9. Btw, the Fleet Database is also a good place to review stats ... once we start collecting 'em.
  10. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Yesterday, Cmdr Flax was in the Prime fleet recruit pool. This morning he was still there. I had to approve him.My mistake, SC. I copied his email address and sent him a letter requesting he register at the Prime Fleet board. I also reiterated the necessity to keep a single commander's name throughout all the boards. At the time, I didn't take notice of any option to approve him as a cadet in the PF Academy. In fact, I was surprised to find that his name was missing when I checked the database again today. From now on, applicants will be admitted immediately. If we need to kick 'em out, we can do it after they've enrolled at Prime Fleet. Everybody will, at least, get a fair shake at being part of the best fleet in the Battlecruiser universe.
  11. Attention All Cadets: Earlier this week, an email was sent to each cadet in Prime Fleet. If you are a cadet and did not receive the email, please either PM me or send an email to: [email protected] ASAP. All cadets who do not respond by Friday, noon, will be expunged from the Academy cadet roster. Thank you.
  12. Multiplayer: All your MSN or Yahoo chat messages start with the letter "a" .... (A beer to the first person who understands this one.)
  13. Remo, I'll be checking for TS on the hour ... from now until 12 midnight Eastern local.
  14. quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Chavik: From the first post. Not all the congratulations to Marvin. Which, Congratulations Marvin. I think I'm missing today's code book. Anyway, glad to see you out and about, Chavik. Would you like some of us to come and answer your roll call? After all, we wouldn't want to see our friendly neighborhood Insurgents go out of business.
  15. quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: ... you want me to come Friday to watch? Or also to help train? By all means. I'll have some near-beer, grape juice and whatever else you might want ... we gotta celebrate your graduation, too.
  16. quote:Originally posted by Wolferz: I'm sure my fellow old timers here will recall another TV series called Fireball XL-5, which also used alot of strings and pyrotechnical toys. And Captain Scarlett and Supercar (not the Italian "Supercar" ... which was Night Rider under a different name and not done with marionettes). Also Space 1999, which used the same people to do the special effects. Edit: Err, I think it was spelled "Knight Rider" ... "Knight Ryder"? Or was that Wynona Ryder? 17. Since it's the middle of the week and training must continue, unabated, I've set up an open tab for Friday night .... just remember Prime Fleet rule No.86: If you break it, you gotta replace it. Saturday hangovers are authorized. As a wise man once said, in "Under the Yum-Yum Tree," I pity anyone who doesn't drink ... when they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're gonna feel all day.* Hopefully, some of you will have more than one thing to celebrate by then. If not, I'll have open tabs every Friday until the current crop of cadets has graduated. Cheers. *Though, admittedly, the above reference is to booze, it could also hold true for some "health drinks" I've had the misfortune to swallow when it was too close to bedtime. Undigested, such drinks can contribute to a poor night's sleep and a resulting early-morning need for a strong cup of coffee.
  18. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Also, you shouldn't have to mouse over to see the details. You should include labels (Black text on White background strip) for each, with the ability to toggle them on/off.Or both. Like the toggel for radar mode to un-clutter the ITD and the cursor-over-blip to display target data in the TRS.
  19. quote:Originally posted by Most: Wait...does this mean no more drinking in the barracks. My Megaron has a "10-Forward" ... and that synthahol stuff has been loaded into the probe launcher tubes (I'd rather not know what's going on in other parts of the galaxy, anyway). Rule No.1: any room I walk into and don't find a cold one in my hand within the first thirty seconds .... Rule No.2: Don't make me finish rule No.1. But, for now ... this round is on me.
  20. quote:Originally posted by Malakie-USN: running the latest V2.00.10 service pack for UC. Did you install the 2.00.00 patch (24.1mb) first?
  21. Yes, but Archer's answer to the resulting problem was a little too underhanded for Prime Fleet.
  22. quote:Originally posted by Firenight21: i dont see any server unscanned see no server the programm says only sorry no server avialbel im driving crazy in Germann Check to make sure your MP settings (main multiplayer screen, right side) have not changed back to default. I think one of the later patches re-sets them. For sure, if you've re-installed the game, they will be re-set.
  23. quote:Marvin: ... relying on hyperspace to get from one star system to another. In the same manner currently used to hyperjump from one target to another in a single zone. For example, if you have "the entire MP region as a single world space" and you want to go from Procon to Castrin ... you target Castrin, directly, instead of a jump gate to Castrin. Then you hyperjump directly from one planet to the next (e.g. Procon to Castrin). Is that right?
  24. quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: He is NOT deserving of ANY respect.... Kal, Do you think members of the miltary should resign if they don't respect the Commander in Chief? Or, if they aren't given the option to resign, should they at least refuse promotion?
