  1. Nice shots, SC. But why do I get the feeling they're just the first of a long set of pix you can call "How I Spent My Summer Vacation?" quote:Thats when I got a bogus server disconnect message (the server was just fine)I could've sworn I never knew that could happen but, in the chat log, somebody with my name on it says he'd seen it before. Chalk it up to old age. quote:Lucky for him, he had the station already in his target matrix (though his radar was down)...Actually, I wasn't sure. But I used the Range indicator in the upper right corner of the TDD. Even though the Tactical scope (TRS) and VDD were dead, I could still cycle (unseen) targets with the "," and "." keys. When the range matched what you told me was the range to the station ... bingo! You gotta love it. If you look around, there isn't a problem you can't solve one way or another. Which is good. 'Cause it sure is easy to get into trouble.
  2. It would've been even funnier tonight, when the SC tried to steal my Megaron while it was parked near a starstation. At least, on the planet, you can go hunting and fishing. quote:I gotta get that damn time synch on the planet sorted out. It gives me a headache ....Planetside time synch is relative. It's definitely a lot better now than a few weeks ago when, every time you walked, it was like you were being ripped out of your skin.
  3. quote:Originally posted by Cc: Congrats Marvin!! Does this mean we can bug you now? You are always welcome to bug me. But, to keep from cluttering up the forum, I can tell you my answer will almost always be: Join Prime Fleet ... where you can find the answer to most any problem.
  4. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: LMAO!!!... since its perfectly legal, I don't think I will prevent it. At this time. Personally, I loved it. As Gomer Pyle used to say, "Surprise, surprise, surprise." As for starting out as a SFM, Spacecowboy would need to answer that himself ... but, from what I could see, he was having a great time running around an Insurgent city (not base ... no protection) in FP mode. Perhaps there should be one career where you can pilfer a ship and then launch into space ... otherwise, spending all that time trying to leave the planet only makes someone look like they should be nominated for the "Resnig of the Month" award. No offense to Cowboy. After all, I gotta hand it to him for catching me off guard.
  5. Thanks guys. I hope I don't do anything stupid but, if I do, you're all more than welcome to send me a PM. Special thanks to Remo (wherever you are) and Gordon for letting me become a player in Prime Fleet and its testing. And, of course, the SC ... for reminding me of some commanding officers I've worked for (and would again, if anyone was crazy enough to reactivate me).
  6. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: quote:Originally posted by Marvin: True, but you did make an impression. You're the first one I know of to steal another player's shuttlecraft. Thats illegal. Please explain. First, a correction. It wasn't Neo who done the deed; it was Spacecowboy. Cowboy wanted to be a Marine so, every time he entered the server, he started out on a planet. On this particular occassion, he was already on Procon when I launched ... he hailed me (via chat) and asked if there was any way he could fly a vehicle into space. I figured if he wanted to experiment, it would be easier to help if I, too, was planetside. Using TacOps, I targeted his position and flew my Megaron to where he had entered a small flying craft. After landing, I discovered he'd taken off and was flying around, trying to achieve escape velocity ... er, altitude. So I sent myself to a shuttle ... easier to follow him, that way. By the time my AE could launch, Cowboy had again landed, directly underneath my Megaron. So I landed next to him, ordered my shuttle to halt, set the autopilot, and exited to FP. Checking my D.I.E., I noticed he'd exited his craft and was wandering around. As I headed toward Cowboy's little ship, I got a chat message from him telling me he's in my ship. I asked him if he meant ON my ship. "No," he said. He's IN it. "The Megaron?" I asked. And he answered, "No. The shuttle." I turned around and, sure thing, my shuttle was flying all over the sky, under Cowboy's control. When I tried to enter his little ship, to give chase, I ended up back inside my CC (naturally, as it was right on top of me). So I attempted to tow him with the Megaron's tractor ... it locked on but refused to cart my shuttle (with Cowboy inside) back into space. I could hyper from one end of ProconZ to the other, stretching my tractor beam as I went ... the VDD still indicating "Towed" for the SC. After breaking lock, Cowboy tried to get the shuttle off planet while I ate dinner. No luck. He finally gave up and abandoned my craft.
  7. True, but you did make an impression. You're the first one I know of to steal another player's shuttlecraft.
  8. Someone awhile back suggested a scenario along the lines of a road rallye. Depending on how the scripting was done, the clues would either come to you in-game, one at a time, or all together in a PM just before logging on. Screen shots would confirm that a player hit every check-point ... or the Server could keep track if in graphics mode.
  9. quote:Originally posted by Wolferz: Air Force ... I, Zoomie, swear to sign away 4 years of my useless life to the United States Air Force because ... the Marines frighten me. LOL. Guilty as charged. quote:I promise to walk around calling everyone by their first name because I know I'm not really in the military and I find it amusing to annoy the other services. Not quite as accurate but still hits close to home. Others will probably hate your post, Wolf, but, as a "Lifer" myself, I found it too funny to be insulted.
  10. Aye, aye, Sir. Only images not linked to Prime Fleet are now included.
  11. This part was reported in the news a few days ago: quote:On Sunday, the 20th anniversary of his death from lung cancer, performance art comedian and onetime star of "Taxi" Andy ... Kaufman had long promised to stage his death and come back 20 years after being declared officially "dead."But this is the first I've seen of it since Sunday.
  12. Experiment using your tactical radar. Start by turning on your PTA and putting a target in the center of the radar screen. Watch to see if the PTA fires. Then move the target to a cardinal heading, adjusting the angle-off-the-bow one tic-mark at a time. Again, check to see if your PTA is firing. Finally, check the other three cardinal headings.
  13. I suggest anyone else who hasn't been assigned to POW guard/interrogation detail read the following link, or one of many like it: Stanford Prison Experiment quote:In only a few days, our guards became sadistic and our prisoners became depressed and showed signs of extreme stress. The USAF Basic Survival school used the findings from the above study when developing their POW surival course. While attending the course, I discovered that the instructors, all of them psychologically fit US Air Force personnel, were required to rotate out of the POW camp after a single three-day session as camp guards/commandants. Anyone in the chain of command who does not understand the necessity of rotating guards in any POW camp deserves at least the same punishment as the offending guards, themselves. If you don't have the personnel, take 'em off guard duty at a nuke site ... something less important.
  14. quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Chavik: What's good for the Boardroom is good for America. A similar quote comes from Al Capp's comic strip, Li'l Abner: "What's good for General Bullmooose is good for the U.S.A." The general in question represented corporate America (the Boardroom). Capp may have taken your quote from Nast or some other editorial cartoonist of the 1800s and then paraphrased it. [Additional Info] Yup. Here's a link ... it should clarify the issue. Evidently, Thomas Nast didn't say it ... but I like him anyway. [ 05-07-2004, 01:14 PM: Message edited by: Marvin ]
  15. quote:Originally posted by Scrivener: I will refrain from poking fun at you for asking such a silly question. Poke away. The reason I asked was the last couple movies I bought had both versions included on one DVD. Luckily, while examining the Peter Pan case, I noticed the words "Full Screen" printed at the top of the spine. The question was just my way of saying, "Hey, don't get suckered into buying the wrong version." And I agree whole-heartedly with your assessment. A couple of the movie channels have done spots illustrating the visual differences between formatted movies and letterbox versions.
  16. quote:Originally posted by Scrivener: Buy it, dont rent it - now.Okay. Which is best: the Full Screen version or the Widescreen version?
  17. quote:Originally posted by Krill: ...i was looking mainly for Time Collapse and Speeding up the game so i do have to waif for ever to Planet fall.To shorten planetfall time: 1. Set waypoints via TacOps. 2. Hyperjump to the planet using Shift+9. 3. Target the planet via the NID. 4. Press Shift+9. Hyperjump usually sets you in about a 150km orbit. Pressing Shif+9 will give you the option for immediate planetfall ... if you have the planet targeted.

    Website?

Must've been sympathetic pains. Good thing you posted the follow-up or I'd be wondering if I was programming in the Twilight Zone.
  19. But, for fifteen minutes anyway, I was right ... er, or rather, a bit confused.

  22. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: California is one of the MOST socialist states in the union, and they cannot fight the organized opposition that they find standing against them.Sad, isn't it? Especially since the majority of Californians have voted to stem the tide. But, every time a bill or "measure" or initiative is passed, the Court of San Francisco (9th Circuit) strikes it down. Consequently, many Californians are fleeing the tyranny of the minority and moving elsewhere. 'Cause, if you can't change things with a democratic vote, what's left?
  23. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: ... name me 1 right that you PERSONALLY have lost, due to the patriot act. You might want to consider how the Act could impact your home schooling. Not today, of course. Maybe not even in its current incarnation. But there are a lot of teachers out there who want to make sure your kids learn what's politically and socially correct. I'm sure many of them are wondering how they can subvert the Act to give themselves that opportunity.
  24. An easier way to monitor drone % ... especially if you're aboard your CC: 1. Tactical -- ACTIVATE (Alt t) 2. Options Tabs -- LOADOUT 3. Assets Tabs -- SC 4. SC Number Tabs -- ANY SC CURRENTLY ABOARD CC 5. Assets Tabs -- DRONE 6. Drone Number Tabs -- SELECT DRONE AS REQUIRED 7. Assignment -- CHECK STATUS [%] NOTE: The SC you pick must be aboard your command craft or you will likely get the message you mentioned.
  25. quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: ... If we where to ever go to war with China they would lose in less than a day, if they even TRY to launch an attack on us it won't work we have nukes they don't we will use them if we have to ....Jane's is usually a good place to go when researching military topics of discussion ... many USAF intelligence organizations keep current and back issues on the shelf for reference. Of special note for the topic at hand, here are a couple excerpts from the article linked above: quote:According to the declassified report compiled by the US House of Representatives' Select Committee on US National Security and Military/Commercial Concerns with the People's Republic of China, otherwise known as the Cox Report ... the PRC nuclear programme has "leaped, in a handful of years, from 1950s-era strategic nuclear capabilities to the more modern thermonuclear weapons designs," ....This one was news to me: quote:China's territorial claims extend beyond Taiwan to the South China Sea, home of the disputed Spratley Islands, and have proved difficult for ASEAN member states such as the Phillipines and Vietnam to contest. And lots more. Bottom line, though, is the PRC has nukes, has had them for a long time, and has ICBM capability to deploy them against targets worldwide.
