  1. quote:Originally posted by Darkness Incarnate: wat happened to it!!Check your shuttles. Intruders tend to store stolen booty in shuttles with the hope of then absconding with the shuttles. As for making use of artifacts, check the search function, here at the forum, and/or the Appendix in your game docs folder.
  2. quote:Originally posted by quantum: ...you'll see that it's weapons fire!! If you want to see this from up close (spectacular), put your AE in the prone position ("X" key) then run (Shift+W) in spurts until you're nearly inside the base. When you run, you do it standing up but, once you release the "Shift" key, you return to the prone position. This should allow you to get close enough to the weapons fire to be blown away (literally).
  3. quote:Originally posted by Ben Zwycky: If Prime can field a second team and send three AAE's to the Insurgents.... I sent my AAE to Balor. Either Chavik or Shohashi can decide what to do with him ... depending on who builds a team at GHQ.
  4. quote:Originally posted by Zane Marlowe: Something else Ben and I were wondering about was whether people would fight as hard in a given battle knowing that they weren't getting ep for it.I think so. I remember one situation where I was paired with Chavik, as an insurgent. EPs never entered the equation. If anything, playing for the other side gives you the opportunity to try tactics you might otherwise consider too risky. If they work, so much the better.
  5. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: According to people that I have talked to....Typical. You have more "deep throats" than a ENT specialist.
  6. In other words, after the next championship, Ben can be both first and second place winner? Though, I gotta admit ... I like the implications of Ben and his troops starting their own Insurgent fleet. That way Ben can keep secret all his methods for beating the blazes out of everyone else. Ouchy. I'll be registering my AAE later this week ... after I see if Ben has any openings as an insurgent.
  7. quote:Originally posted by LostInSpace: I don't blame the troops for their response. Not one bit.And I don't blame the Italians. If I'd just bought my way out of one terrorist hell-hole and, on a dark and dangerous roadway, some unfamiliar group started shooting at my car and waving for me to stop ....
  8. So, which non-GalCom fleet needs a hired gun?
  9. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: There is a new trailer on www.ugo.com; its hilarious (wait'll u hear the voice overs) Somehow your semi-colon ended up in the URL ... ergo, it didn't work except thru copy-paste from Properties and deleting the punctuation mark.
  10. quote:From PBS Website on Tesla: On the evening of the experiment, each piece of equipment was first carefully checked. Then Tesla alerted his mechanic, Czito, to open the switch for only one second. The secondary coil began to sparkle and crack and an eerie blue corona formed in the air around it. Satisfied with the result, Tesla ordered Czito to close the switch until told to cease. Huge arcs of blue electricity snaked up and down the center coil. Bolts of man-made lightning more than a hundred feet in length shot out from the mast atop the station. Tesla's experiment burned out the dynamo at the El Paso Electric Company and the entire city lost power. The power station manager was livid, and insisted that Tesla pay for and repair the damage.Do a Google search for other applicable websites.
  11. quote:Originally posted by Beetle: By the way, I've been following the instructions on Prime Fleet HQ and have yet to receive my confirmation email with my login info. Any help? Remo made some changes to how the "Welcome Aboard" in-processing letter is mailed out ... but I guess you had already registered. Just go to the Prime Fleet forum and sign in here. When you do, the little light bulb will illuminate to let me know we've got a new cadet wandering around the OD's office. Check back a day or so later to see if you're listed in the Training Assignments section. If so, further instructions will be posted under your name.
  12. 2. The difference between true north and magnetic north is called "variation." Check the Net for an Army grid map of your local area or a navigation map of your general area. Variation is usually indicated by dashed lines set one degree apart. Rule of thumb is "east is least and west is best" ... which means subtract for east variation and add for west variation but, to be honest, it's been so long I don't remember if it's for going magnetic to true or the other way around. 4. H.O. volumes will give you the exact time of day, on any day, that the sun will be due south (assuming you're in the northern hemisphere). For tomorrow, 22 February, it should be 12:14 hours local. For the six days after that, it should be 12:13 hours local. To see if my calculations are correct, go to this website and get an accurate time of solar transit. Hint: I'm off by five minutes !!!
  13. quote:Originally posted by Hellbinder: This should have been a faithful series fropm the start about the Dauteles (sp?) which is the actual origional Deep Warp capable ship. Or they should have started the story and revolved it around the early wars and conflicts with the Romulans.Daedalus ... every USAF officer's club has a Daedalus Room reserved specifically for pilots ... not even navigators are allowed inside. Deadalus is their god of flight. About Enterprise: the Romulans are the current topic and will probably continue to be so right up to the end of the series. Personally, I gave up on any reasonable explanation of Star Trek history when I realized the distance from earth to the edge of the Milky Way was about 20,000 light years ... yet, that's where Capt. Kirk journeyed on his first outing. Then, in one of the last original-crew movies, they travel to the center of the galaxy ... 30,000 light years away. Must've been going Warp-a-million. How do you reconcile that?
  14. I hope your statistics are accurate, 'cause I'm sending this one to my sister and brother-in-law ... the doctors.
  15. As long as you know which planet it's on, there are two ways to retrieve a "lost" mining drone: 1. Go down to the planet yourself, in an empty shuttle. Land anywhere. Select the option to retrieve the appropriate drone. 2. Put a pilot in an empty shuttle. Set two waypoints for anywhere on the planet. Orders for the first waypoint should be to continue on to the second waypoint. Orders for the second waypoint should be to retrieve the appropriate drone. Using either of those methods, you can attempt to retrieve the drone without ever actually targeting it. If they don't work, you're pretty much out of luck. You're probably on the wrong planet. If not, nuke the planet out of existence and see if it destroys the drone at the same time.
  16. That specific *.avi runs under DivX. To test, open: C:Program FilesDreamCatcher3000ADBattlecruiser Millennium Goldgfxavi ... assuming you installed the game to its default location ... if you didn't, you should (considering all the problems you're having). Click on any file except dclogo ... your player should launch and play the video. Then click on dclogo and, if you get anything at all, it should be the audio only. If such is the case, you need DivX drivers ... which is why you bypass that video. But not having the driver shouldn't cause the problems you're having with the game. Besides, WinXP usually has the DivX drivers included. If you can't play the dclogo video, you're copy of WinXP might be borked ... or at least some files, drivers, codex, or whatever. Yeah, now that I think of it, DivX drivers should be included. Go find a different DivX video and test it. If you can't play it, think about reinstalling WinXP.
  17. TY, Ivan. I'd always thought pitting a fighter against an AI cruiser was an exercise in futility ... but, after reading your post, I think I'll give those tactics a try.
  18. Try to avoid using the keyboard when jumping or doing anything else that crashes the game ... use the mouse and on-screen menus instead. See if that helps.
  19. quote:Originally posted by Quazar: The Handbook presents a single set of Rules Of Engagement (ROE) as guiding statutes for all matches. Or did I misread?Nope. You read correctly. There is also a section included with each scenario for changes or additions to the "default" ROE. quote:Typo found at Page 29, in "Appendix 2 - Multiplayer Scenarios", at point 5.d in the "Duel" Scenario: "Gam Leader" should read "Game Leader"Ratz. Must've typed that while I was watching a Betty Grable movie. If you find more mistakes, make a list and send it to me later.
  20. quote:Originally posted by Zane Marlowe: I do remember he was a ladies man, a hotshot pilot, and the more hotheaded irresponsible one. He wasn't really hot-headed. He was more of a wheeler-dealer.
  21. Flame on.
  22. Orbiter has a new version ... with virtual cockpit support. New sound mod will be out in a few days.
  23. The handbook will be another day or two, for two reasons: [*]1. I forgot to add something about an issue Remo mentioned a few weeks ago ... about how the League will be awarding medals based on performance in multiplayer. [*]2. Remo and I gotta brainstorm on how the newest incarnation of Universal Combat will impact League MP. But it won't be too long. We work fast.
  24. Insurgents. They'll have the galaxy looking like a N.Y. subway at this rate.
  25. The GBS scripting tool allows you to write your own scenarios. You can script a diplomat escort mission such that alliances between two or more factions change according to the success or failure of your mission. If you have nothing to do between now and the next release, why not give the GBS a try?
