Old Vessel Roster 6/99

Ver 2.09 doesn't have multiplay but BC Millenium is due shortly (when it's ready) And that will have multiplay. So yes we are getting ready for the next version. Look around the forum at all the fleet discussions going on. They started a while back but are now an integral part of the game. So much so that Derek hard coded the particular stations into the game. Open up bc3kman.pdf with your acrobat reader and read the history part at the beginning of the manual. You can get the manual from the downloads page of the website and be looking at it. But we use that to defend our positions as to why we are the real good guys, debate, and just generally call each other really bad names. All in fun with the approriate [rp] (on) [/rp] (off) tags to signify that. You'll have to read up on the fleets yourself. Each one has a forum. Prime is the default and general fleet. Orion is the battle fleet. Wraith is the secret strike/ quick strike fleet. ISS is In System Support, and EarthCom is the military arm of the UFN. The Insurgents are a splinter group of Terrans who think the UFN has just bungled things badly and plans on retaking Earth. Choose wisely though as there is a moratorium on transfers. Once you choose you are stuck with that. ------------------ Commander Chavik Spectre Fleet Commanding Officer, Pre-Commissioning Crew, Starstation Destiny ICV Phoenix Official BC3K Tester "We Shall Arise From The Ashes"

To backtrack a bit, Vorpal, the reason you saw duplicate names on the roster is because those were the commanders who logged in, registered, and were never heard from again. Perhaps one or two technical questions but that was it. Which leads to Akira's interesting point about stats keeping. I think the additional info of the commanders name will keep the stats straight. There might be two Phoenix's but only one Chavik/Phoenix and one So&So/Phoenix. Not that I wouldn't be a bit jealous mind you. I was the first two or three times it happened here then I decided I was being a bit childish about the whole thing. There was even a GCV Phoenix that posted for a while. Since we only deal with text here I have no problem with those examples you posted Akira. They clearly aren't me. Phoen IX (9 ) is almost cool. If two players had similiar names and were on the same side everyone would probably fall back to handles anyway. Especially when voice comms is enabled. But interesting point about the stats. ------------------ Commander Chavik Spectre Fleet Commanding Officer, Pre-Commissioning Crew, Starstation Destiny ICV Phoenix Official BC3K Tester "We Shall Arise From The Ashes"

I was talking more about the courtesy we show each other here. If two people are going to post consistently then they should respect each other. This has worked out well. The name thing will happen eventually. Not so much on a BCM 16 player server as it will on BC Online though. But unique names are not out of hand. I once decided to try a text based Fantasy RPG on AOL. It required a unique name. That was tough thinking of one though. Anyway, your email address is unique, your handle on a server (thinking MSN Game Zone here) is unique (isn't it?) so I don't think there is anything stopping anyone from requiring ship's names to be unique. Then again, does it matter? Not really. Not with Thousands of players running around. (50,000 hits on the site? We gonna get A LOT of players) In fact it would be a really cruel tactic to have several ships with the same name running around. "There he goes again, how does he do that?" For now things have worked out. Commander Chavik, from the bridge of the ICV Usagi (an LRT-10 transport) while the ICV Phoenix is under repair.

I've had this problem. Way, way back on the old forum a couple of commanders were nice enough to change the names. Then it happened here but those commanders never posted much. So I kept the name Phoenix. Doesn't seem to be the case here. Two equally vocal commanders vying for the same name. "First named, First taken" is valid. How did the two Galatae's duke it out? One was Galatae and the other was Galatea. May I suggest Blakstar, Blackstarr, Black Star, Blackstar Nebula to name a few? Would this work? ------------------ Commander Chavik Spectre Fleet Commanding Officer, Pre-Commissioning Crew, Starstation Destiny ICV Phoenix Official BC3K Tester "We Shall Arise From The Ashes"

Cruis.in, read the "New America" thread ( http://www.bc3000ad.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000029.html ) and ask for something. I have posted the entire profile here: http://members.aol.com/clind10107/insurgen...entprofile.html It did not retain the formatting (And I didn't bother trying to fix it) but I did provide a link to download the entire Word 6.0 document intact. That seems to work on my end but give me a holler if something is wrong. So here it is until you get a site to place it. Let me know if anything is wrong and I will pull it. Errr, I did replace the incorrect CO with Cmdr. Hope you don't mind. ------------------ Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" Official BC3K Tester [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 02-24-2000).]

No bickering here. Just trying to point something out before a higher power takes notice. quote:Besides, Charles, you asked me why I had CO in there and I answered. No, I asked why you had Combat Officer behind/underneath the motto. That was a deliberate and gentle (I thought) nudge towards pointing that out and correcting the problem. quote:Why is this such a big deal? Because it is incorrect. We would have been in deep cookies if your site had gone up that way. quote:So to quote myself, please pretend that CO means commanding officer for the sake of the profiles. Was that an attempt at saying you would fix it before your site went up? If so, I apologize. quote:It will be adjusted when I compile them into the site. That's all I'm asking. Had you explained that at my first nudge all would be well. (Yes, I am exactly that obtuse sometimes.) So far as my own profile goes it will be several more days. It takes me quite a while to meld things together. No hard feelings here Aramike. ------------------ Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" Official BC3K Tester

Thanks Den, I was going to say the same thing. It would only add confusion. I do prefer "Cmdr" that most people have adopted. The only other point is that it is going to end up as an official site it needs to be correct. I've already corrected it in my profile. Though I did spell it out fully. I'd be just as happy with Cmdr. ------------------ Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" Official BC3K Tester

CO=Combat Officer. That's the term BC3K uses. ------------------ Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" Official BC3K Tester

Was researching this stuff. I just have to ask. Why do you want the Combat Officer's name underneath the ship's motto? ------------------ Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" Official BC3K Tester

I'm still here as well. Now we just need those guys that posted on the "Insurgent Call to Arms" thread located at http://www.bc3000ad.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000015.html . Some have already posted here. Might be a good place to look for those profiles Aramike. ------------------ Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" Official BC3K Tester

That's a rather large order. As far as the commaner goes I have a webpage in the ring tht has a short boigraphy of my character. Up until I defected to the Insurgency. For the ship I really haven't thought that much about it. She was just a standard BC. I have named the command crew for the few stories I write in roleplay. Name and motto are in my sig. Looks like the only thing I am missing is date of commission (??? beats me) and place of construction. Galcom I guess. We really don't have a named shipyard and I haven't thought about it. They are built somewhere but I just haven't thought about it. ------------------ Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" Official BC3K Tester

Thanks Rattler. Just let me close things down at SSF. There are a few purchase orders still outstanding and I'll have to explain them to the new guy. Pack up my office and all that. I'm looking forward to the new assignment and welcome Finder1 as securtity officer. We'll be forging ahead to our Destiny. ------------------ Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" Official BC3K Tester

quote:and having not heard form ANY of the other Command Staff Some of that quote would pertain to me I suppose but I'm sitting here in awe of the structures proposed. Not having been in the military nor even faintly interested I am perfectly happy letting others choose a structure. It gets difficult but given that Rattler is THE base (Rattler's Den/Spectre) commander then any other base (Sygan, New America) commander would be the wing commander equal on the Galcom side. Everything is equivalent yet different as allowed. I believe it iscoming together so far as the "equal/equivalent" rankings ar concerned. Now you know how little I know of rankings and such. Hehe. We can be equivalent yet different. Such is the Insurgency. The man who gets "New America" should probably consider himself a "wing" commander in my opinion. It keeps things sort of equal as far as ranks are concerned. Anyone more knowledgeable than I am is free to kick me to the curb. But I think we are getting somewhere with this. ------------------ Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" Official BC3K Tester [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 02-16-2000).]

Clean Up Crew comments
Charles Lindsey replied to Charles Lindsey's topic in Role Playing Discussions
Ouch, by saying "same venue as before" I was referrerng to having a separate comment thread as before. It was obvious to me this was your story and I didn't intend to throw it open for everyone. Sorry about that. -
Same venue as before Blades? So as not to disturb your story I have started this. Do I get to say such laudible things as "you have matured as a writer" and "the interplay of characters combined with the fulfilling background really lend credence to this story" or am I just stuck saying "Keep it up!"? I like it. Ready for more. Charles

Need a little help. First time playing..
Charles Lindsey replied to Malakie's topic in Battlecruiser Series
Welcome to the game Malakie. Hope you are enjoying it. 1) Go to the "download files" and click the Version control file link. A chart has been added showing how much Radine is used per jump per engine/reactor combo. Or go to http://www.bc3000ad.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000054.html where I poosted a cheat sheet giving the same chart plus the prices and a few upgrade options. 2)You are creaming you own IC's with that juggernaut you are flying. There is not much you can do about that other than choose a different target than you have assigned the IC's too. It can also happen when they are chasing a large target and beat it to the hyperjump exit point. 3) Practice with TacOps some more. I don't have a problem but it does take a while. You could retreive manually with a combination of using tacops to assign waypoints for the shuttles, then jumping into them and doing it yourself; or flying the shuttle all the way in. That's time consuming though. 4)Nope. But you are already doing the best thing by cutting power to launch control. Standard search will get the job done eventually. You could put a couple marines in each shuttle but the ones on search will eventually look inside them as well. With practice and going over the manual some more you'll get a grip on things. Hang in there! ------------------ Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" Official BC3K Tester -
If you can find the readme you can do it. Do exactly what it says in the order it tells you to and it works. I did it over a year ago. The 2.09 demo is self installing and you shouldn't have any problems with it. Free version: not supported 2.09 demo: not supported Retail Ver 2.0 supported (but we will tell you to get 2.09 ) Retail 2.09 supported. Try the 2.09 demo on the downloads page as it contains the up to date features that the free version does not. ------------------ Commander Chavik ICV Phoenix "We Shall Arise From The Ashes" Official BC3K Tester
