quote:I have been seeing some interesting sig's, such as you are at such and such an IP, you are using IE6 etc in sigs. That would be Fox Trot I think. It's cute at first.... Pugwash has been deleting images from sigs like a madman. I personally thank him. The ONLY approved images in a sig are fleet affiliations. Didn't quite work for me. I figured your explanation about the difference between gamesnet and gamesurge took care of that. I was hinting that people could go to the gamesurge homepage like you showed me and use their java applet instead of installing something.
-
I didn't mind going to gamesurge.net and using their java applet.

Political Correctness, what is it?
Charles Lindsey replied to a topic in Politics, Religion & Legal etc
Yes, very politically correct. DeepFreeze has the best I have seen in this thread. Then people do what Jag posted. Do you say the "n" word or say "african american"? Of course using african american is politically correct while using the "n" word is downright offensive. While being politically correct it's also just being polite. Just because it's politically correct doesn't mean it's wrong. Then again sometimes it does get downright silly and I think those are the instances people rant against. Jags Indian example is perfect for this I think. -

Cartoons I Like: Warner Brothers: All Bugs, All Roadrunner, Foghorn Leghorn usually Good, I like the egghead tweety and the chicken hawk. I live the Industrial music with the gophers/chipmunks. Xmen The new batman where Bruce Wayne is old and the kid has that black suit. Don't see that one anymore. Spiderman that was on Sat morning a couple years ago. Ok I misread the model # on your post. The 9600 I see start at $84. Will look at str8buy.com have got a couple things from them lately and they pretty good. Will go ahead and do that because the vid card is the last thing I need. Then I can buckle down and start paying them off. Thanks all. -
Question concerning UC economy
Charles Lindsey replied to basstrombonist02E's topic in Universal Combat Series
http://www.stormpages.com/intercorp/guides/quickstart.html Try that. It's in the web ring. It's Riga's Indie page. Some info is outdated but there is a nice explanation of trade level and station specialties. (Lower brass rules) -

On page two of the "First Impressions" thread quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Actually I released the patch to the 3000AD testers several hours ago, with a view to releasing it on Monday. I am trying to reproduce a problem with upgradeds and saved games. If I can reproduce and fix that one, it should be good to go on Monday night. Tutorials should be finished by tomorrow afternoon I think. Tacit Approval? I think so. Our numbers were core fan base anyway so ... Ehhhh. Time to finish the new Beastie (so named because they are beastly to assemble) and get the game. Now Derek needs the testers. WeeGee where did you find a 9600 Pro for $67 ? I'm gonna spend less than $100 anyway. With both credit cards pushing $1000 it's getting kinda tight. What with auto insurance, dental work, and a trip to New Orleans and all. -
I had fun. Hopefully I was mildly entertaining. Then I had one of those wonderful crashes where everything locked up.

I'm insanely jealous of them. I don't know what to do either. It's not right that the noobs know more about this game than I do. Bless their little idjit hearts. WeeGee I haven't heard idjit since Warner Brothers cartoons. You don't do a Yosemite Sam inpression do you? Last time I bought direct from Dreamcatcher. Even though Gamestop had that special additional campaign I went to Dreamcatcher because they were "helping" Derek. Sigh -
Bump I am in compliance. Five sites are waiting in the Queue?

$ilk posted The Matrix thingy but the link is dead. I'd click yours if it were a link. But pasting that address into IE works.
-
The WHOLE movie? Ouch. I did like that Matrix scene with Neo dodging the bullet though. I think Ep5 posted that. I think that openeing scene with the Star Destroyer (?) would be cool to watch though.

Balor-Bishamon Fleets Combined February Recall
Charles Lindsey replied to ShoHashi's topic in Insurgent Fleets
Sorry Cruis. In but I beat up on Stickman a long time ago and I guess I feel guilty and wanted to make sure it didn't happen again. Here is Derek's official sig format post dated 09/01/00. You have to scroll a bit to get to the actual format. That started out as a rank discussion. -

Charles Lindsey replied to ShoHashi's topic in Insurgent Fleets
You kinda have to read all the current UC threads to piece it together. Derek said he wouldn't mind if we got the game at $19.99. He also metioned the litigation that didn't go his way. This means that Dreamcatcher is free to sell the game at $19.99 and if it fails to meet certain projections in sales and possibly remuneration then Derek can sue for damages. He also warns it's your money. So it is your choice. At the least you'll get to experience it and get some practice. If later you want to buy another copy you could do that too. Might even be a collector copy. Sho: Ummm not really. I need a video card to complete the setup so when I install Windows XP again that hardware profile will be complete. I'd hate to set it up then put in a new vid card and have it freak out again. -

Ermm Cruis. In? Technically YOUR sig isn't in format. Look at mine, Sho's, or Pugwash's for confirmation. Yours would look better like this: Cmdr. Cruis ICV Valiant, Sygan Startation (Sygan) CEO, Sygan Statstation - Balor Fleet Official Tester. The Battlecruiser Series Sho can coach Stickman on his. (man this stuff is so old) -
Hmmm, with two thousand you could go crazy. Here is a thought. Find a reputable (you have to ask friends about this) shop locally that will build one for you. That way you can take it back for service. Anything Intel 2.0 GHZ or AMD 1600 should do fine. My opinion only. If you are going to collect music you want a BIG hard drive like 120 gigabyte. You definitely want a plain cd drive PLUS the CD Burner drive. I have a friend that burns cd's. She has a 1.0 ghz AMD and it does fine BUT swapping the disks is a chore. I think it would go much faster if she could put the source disk in the cd drive and the target disk in the burner. And to top it all off, her burner drive is the only cd drive in the computer so it does double duty as a standard cd drive and is about worn out. You might want a CD burner/dvd reader drive. That way you could put a dvd in the computer and look at the extra content. I think the kids don't need the zip drive so if it still works good you could take the old machine to that reputable shop you found and tell them to install that in the new machine. Otherwise, have a zip drive installed in the new machine and then you could transfer your information. Get a 19" CRT monitor. Unless you just love the new flat LCD's then you may have to drop back down to 17" or 15". You won't need a new printer unless you just want one. They are pretty cheap now. They practically give them away and rely on ink cartridge sales for profit. That is all I can think of. Anyone feel free to contradict me.

Woohoo! Everyone here. Except Finder1 this time. But Finder1 good. I'm not worried. Echo would like some help up in tech. She wants to buy a new 'puter. Anyone got experience with various OEM's? -
Latest Mars rover report
Charles Lindsey replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Science, Technology & Health
Spirit much healthier now quote: SPIRIT RETURNS Spirit short-circuited on Jan. 22 while preparing to grind the surface of a football shaped rock called Adirondack that lies on the floor of the massive Gusev crater where the rover landed on Jan. 3. The problem arose after the rover's flash memory -- similar to a digital camera's memory sticks and used to store photos taken by Spirit's nine onboard cameras -- had trouble handling the large files, mission manager Jennifer Trosper said. By Monday, the NASA team had the rover back in working order. quote: LostInSpace Makes me wonder if they are using a Windows OS!! Maybe it's Windows ME (Mars Edition). Silly scientists. Don't they know you have to clear the cache every so often? -
http://members.aol.com/clind10107/risk.zip There ya go Cmdr_ Laracuente and Cruis. In . A simple computerized Risk game. It can be set to roll for the nations or it can randomly assigned them.

Ok Splad. You win. An English teacher teaching art and twister in the back room is pretty bad.

Thanks Pugwash. Now watch the thread die a slow and painful death. I need to start on them this week. I can squeeze them in on crud nights. There are plenty of shows I like but there is still a night or so not much is on.

That's what I'm saying. It wasn't much better 20 years ago. I will admit that without a connection to the public school system (read kids) I really can't judge. But from my own experience it doesn't seem much worse and certainly no better from your perspective.

Balor\Bishamon Fleet Combined Rollcall
Charles Lindsey replied to ShoHashi's topic in Insurgent Fleets
YO, Sho! Hellbinder just posted in the "UC Ship it?" thread and I noticed he was Bishamon fleet. Ya might want to PM him and poke him a bit. Cruis. In I don't know what to say. I had hoped BCMG multiplay would take off. Even with our own dreadx hosting a server things seem slow. So what do we need to do? Host our own website like Prime fleet is doing? I have our own website but it's on my member page at AOL. -
Weegee. Splad. Quit yer griping! Be glad you weren't educated 20 years ago. I have an "Advanced Academic Diploma" (the highest you could get) that didn't do squat for me because my school system was so far behind the times I still had to take remedial college courses. You know; the ones numbered 099. Soback: I have read that elsewhere. DeepFreeze: Don't think something provocative is a conspiracy. The general population is dumb. XOR quote:even if that is true, there is still one thing ppl seem to miss... The second you first stepped into a school, you had all the power you needed to be as smart as you ever wanted to be(unless your brain is deformed and you cant think) Exactly. XOR quote:parents should teach their kids to take advantage of their resources at an early age... FLASHBACK!!!!!!! Oh gawd my dad used to make me so angry. I would hear a word like quiescent on TV. I would ask daddy what quiescent meant. He would look me square in the eye and say "quiescent". Then I would whine "but what does it mean?" and he would hand me a dictionary. I would have to figure out how to spell it in the first place then look up quiescent and it would say "marked by inactivity or repose : tranquilly at rest". Oh geez does this never end? What the hell is repose and tranquilly? So I would look THOSE words up. Needless to say I have an extremely large and varied vocabulary. To close; if you are intelligent enough to realize your school system isn't the best do whatever you can to educate yourself. Here is an odd thought. Is there anything keeping you bright young folk from taking online college courses? That would be a hoot if a 16 year old got like an associates degree.
