Wasn't quite the way I intended the thread to start out. Cool stories though. The only thing I went through that even comes close was marching band. Those seniors were tough. Tried to run it close to the military (what I knew about it). Anyway the question I wanted to pose was should the US (or anyone) have mandatory military enlistment. Or if our international members have already been through it how they felt about it. Two years ago my friends hosted (room and board) two 18 year old boys so they could play in a junior league hockey team. One was Canadian who enjoyed hockey. The other also also enjoyed hockey but he was from the Czech Republic and his father sent him here specifically to avoid mandatory military enlistment. So how do you feel about mandatory military enlistment?

Why military type guys would be drawn to a military type game is beyond me but I have come to know, respect, and like many of the military and ex-military guys that post here. Thank you for choosing to protect me. In return I can only promise that I will continue to work and contribute to the economy. It is not much but the most I can do. You are by far making the greater sacrifice. Thank you.

The topics say "Reserved for use by" whichever fleet. Doesn't mean others can't read it. We decided long ago not to post tactics and stuff. It's good for morale to answer roll calls and other things though. However, we do have our own board. Aramike set it up. I thinks it's up to about twenty tumbleweeds now becasue it doesn't get used much. It's not really secret either. I really don't mind the occasional pop in. But then everyone starts popping in and that disrupts threads. So now we are back to square one so it's better not to do it.

pricewatch.com is a good one. Many different vendors. Many good prices. But you have to know exactly what you are doing. Some people like auctions. I don't. I would rather deal with a business. Half.com (which is a subsidiary of EBay) doesn't seem too bad. Other guys know other places to look.

Along with DX 8.1 and media player 7.1 I also checked out the updates page. I got a "critical" update, IE 5.5, and this new driver that I had never seen before. It was a C-Media Electronics Inc. Sound driver. I had never seen that before. I should have known better than to touch it. But I did. I didn't like the new mixer tray icon so I deleted it. Somewhere in all this I was playing Warzone 2100 and trying to install Omicron. I lost sound. Drove me nuts for a few hours. I went through the troubleshooter and did what it said. No go. Ran it again still no go. Right clicked My computer then Device manager tab. Removed the sound device and let windows re-install the device. Still no go. Somehow or another I enabled four speaker balance and un-checked mute. Finally I have sound. Whatever made me check four speaker I have no idea but am glad I did. Yes I have four speakers but the dog had chewed the wires off, they weren't working, and I had forgotten about them. Now the questions. I see yet another "critical" update and another c-media driver update. I'll get the "critical" because it's dated this week. But the sound driver? I wish I could un-install the first one. I wouldn't post but maybe it can be a general warning to someone about the four speaker thing. And it has caused a prob elswhere. Thought I would ask you guys before I put the first post in an otherwise empty forum.

When I did it; it said 5 hrs + some minutes. Go ahead and start. It will realize what it's doing in a minute or so and straighten out. I.E. Drop to about 20 mins.
